Impact on the Hipparcos2-UCAC4 geometric relation from some physical properties of the stars

[EN] The aim of this paper is the study of the impact that the consideration of different physical properties as magnitude and spectral type of stars has on the geometric relations between Hipparcos2 and UCAC4. In this sense, the pairs of residuals ¿¿ ¿ and ¿¿ can be considered as functions of (¿, ¿, r) and for each fixed r, we can fit a vector field on the sphere from which to obtain its components in the VSH basis. The same can be done by grouping the stars considering their magnitudes, spectral types (or mixing them) and then studying the variations in the mentioned geometry. We must not forget that ¿¿ ¿ and ¿¿ are numerical random variables whose regression on the magnitude m, for example, can be estimated. The results will be computed taking into account r as well as the physical mentionThis work was supported by a grant UJI-B2016-18Marco, FJ.; Martínez Uso, MJ.; López, JA. (2018). Procrastination: the poor time management among university students

[EN] Academic procrastination is a fact related to the delay or postpone of academic work until last minute. This phenomenon is evident in a vast majority of university students, and its occurrence is increasing. In order to analyse possible causes and/or solutions, we studied if longer time for accomplishing an assignment incentives or avoids procrastination among university students. Results showed that both short and long time-frame groups tended to procrastinate in the same way. Additionally, academic grades did not revealed differences between groups, as the procrastination was the same between groups. Thus, this study shows that even with longer period of time to accomplish a task, university students tend to procrastinate, and thus seem to have a negative effect on their assignment grades. Therefore, it seems a current problem and measures should be developed in order to solve it.This project has received funding from the Vicerectorado de Estudios, Calidad y Acreditación of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) under Proyectos de Innovación y Mejora Educativa programme (PIME/2017/B/010) and the School of Agricultural Engineering and Environment (ETSIAMN) of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).http://ocs.editorial.upv.es/index.php/HEAD/HEAD18Naturil-Alfonso, C.; Peñaranda, D.; Vicente, J.; Marco-Jiménez, F. ASOCIACION DEL INDICE NEUTROFILO-LINFOCITO Y MORTALIDAD EN PACIENTES CON ENFERMEDAD RENAL CRONICA EN HEMODIALISIS DEL HOSPITAL GENERAL DE ECATEPEC DR JOSE MA RODRIGUEZ

    Get PDF

Multidisciplinary approach to describe Trebouxia diversity within lichenized fungi Buellia zo-haryi from the Canary Islands.

[EN] The Canary Islands are famous for their extraordinary biodiversity; however, lichenized algae have only been studied partially. Buellia zoharyi is a circum-Mediterranean/Macaronesian species that usually occurs in semi-arid areas of the Mediterranean, but occasionally some interesting communities of this species grow on basaltic lava flows in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Tenerife. Those three locations showed similar ecological conditions, but different mean annual temperatures. Here we applied a multidisciplinary approach to describe microalgae diversity from B. zoharyi covering the entire described range of distribution in the Canary Islands. Photobionts were characterized in symbiosis using molecular and microscopic techniques. Different Trebouxia spp. were detected as primary photobiont in each island (Trebouxia cretacea-Fuerteventura, T. asymmetrica-Lanzarote and Trebouxia sp. `arnoldoi '-Tenerife). Coexistence of various Trebouxia spp. within a thallus were detected by using specific primers-PCR. Those three photobionts were isolated and cultured under laboratory conditions. Different phytohormone profiles were obtained in the isolated strains which suggest different internal signalling needs. In addition, we characterized the response of the isolated strains to different temperatures using chlorophyll fluorescence. T. asymmetrica did not modify their F-v/fm values with respect to temperature acclimation. In contrast, Trebouxia sp. `arnoldoi'and T. cretacea were more sensitive to changes in growing temperature decreasing Fv/fm at 17 degrees C. Our results indicate that B. zoharyi is flexible regarding the photobiont choice depending on the region, and suggest that bioclimatic factors could influence the myco/photobiont association patterns.Funding for field and laboratory work for this study was provided by the Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad (MINECO and FEDER, Spain) (CGL2016-79158-P) and Prometeo Excellence in Research Program (Generalitat Valenciana, Spain) (PROMETEOII/2013/021; PROMETEO/2017/039). This paper presents the control of a direct rotary dryer based on nonlinear optimization. This methodology allows the dynamic self-tuning of PI or PID controller, clearly improving process control over the classic tuning approach. Process control is done through Matlab via computer simulation and verification through a pilot process, which allows us to appreciate the potential of the proposed dynamic tuning. The results, response time and dynamic control allow us to scale future research from the laboratory (pilot scale) to industrial processes.http://ref.scielo.org/swb3h

Here, we review the recent advances towards the use of organs from embryonic donors, antecedent investigations, and the latest work from our own laboratory exploring the utility for transplantation of embryonic kidney as an organ replacement therapy. In addition, we have recently reported, for the first time, that it is possible to create a long-term biobank of kidney precursors as an unlimited source of organs for xenotransplantation, facilitating inventory control and the distribution of organs

OBJECTIVE: Depression is a frequent and chronic condition with high levels of functional disability. Brazilian Medical Association Guidelines project proposed guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of the most common medical disorders. The objective of this paper is to present the original document that originated the abbreviated version available at the electronic address of Brazilian Medical Association. METHODS: This paper was based on guidelines developed in other countries and systematic reviews, randomized clinical trials and when absent, observational studies and recommendations from experts. Brazilian Medical Association proposed this methodology for the whole project. RESULTS: The following aspects are presented: prevalence, demographics, disability, diagnostics and sub-diagnosis, efficacy of pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment, costs and side-effects of different classes of available drugs in Brazil. Planning of different phases of treatment is22 also discussed. CONCLUSIONS: Guidelines are a good tool helping clinical decisions and are a reference for an attitude based on levels of evidence.OBJETIVO: A depressão é uma condição freqüente e crônica associada a níveis altos de incapacitação funcional.
