Between silences and whispers: the question of the access to information about the 'insane', an analysis of medical records of Jurujuba psychiatric hospital

Buscando identificar os aspectos informativas de prontuários de pacientes internados por motivações sociais no Hospital Psiquiátrico de Jurujuba em 1953 e de concepções foucaultianas sobre a construção da ‘loucura’ e do ‘louco’ na sua forte relação com modelo de sociedade, esta pesquisa indagou: se a loucura é uma construção social, que na modernidade implicou em segregação, qual a função do documento médico nesse processo? Espera-se que apresentem um conteúdo informativo sobre as doenças (viés informativo). Mas os prontuários daquela instituição não apresentaram-se informativos sobre a loucura. O conflito entre um esperado viés informativo do documento e os nossos resultados levou a proposta de que faz-se necessário um exame mais holístico do valor político e social do documento médico. Propõe-se um exame mais ampliado do documento, enquanto materialidade recortada de determinado acontecimento, com função de modelação e controle, dentro de um dispositivo maior de verdade: o conhecimento e as instituições médico-científicas. O acesso à informação sobre os pacientes, se consequência de um processo de organização eficaz de conjuntos documentais em arquivos médicos, inicia-se pela escrita sobre o paciente que age como sentença (interne-se ou dê-se alta), mas há um silêncio sobre as práticas médicas de tratamento, pelo menos no período e na instituição investigada, que torna o sujeito internado objeto de práticas indescritíveis. Ao final da pesquisa conclui-se que aqueles documentos sobre o louco têm, pelo menos, três vieses passíveis de análise: o da autoria da escrita; o do objeto da escrita, e o viés institucional, ou sobre como o documento institui em alguns casos, na nossa sociedade, relações de poder. Um quarto viés que atravessa todos os outros, o do regime burocrático no qual estamos inseridos e que, por algum motivo, precisa passar pelo caminho do documento para cristalizar o seu poder.Looking for to identify the informative aspects of medical records of patients admitted for social motivations in the Psychiatric Hospital of Jurujuba in 1953 and Foucault's ideas about the construction of 'insanity' and 'insane' in its strong relationship with model of society, the research asked: if insanity is a social construction, which in modern times resulted in segregation, which the function of the medical document in this process? It’s expected these documents present an informational content about insanity diseases (information bias). But the records of that institution did not show up information about it. The conflict between an expected bias informative document and our results led to the proposal that a more holistic examination of the political and social value of medical document. It is proposed a broader examination of the document, while materiality originated from a particular event, functioning to modeling and control within a larger device truth: the knowledge and medical and scientific institutions. If the access to information about patients is a result of an effective process of organizing documentary sets in medical files, it starts for the writings on the patient who acts as a sentence (if interne-or give up high), but there is silence about medical treatment practices, at least in the period and investigated institution, which makes the hospitalized person an object of unspeakable practices. At the end of the study it was concluded that those documents on the insane have at least three biases analyzable: the writing authorship; the object of this write; and the institutional bias, or how the document establishing in some cases, in our society, power relations. A fourth bias that runs through all the others, the bureaucratic regime in which we operate and that, for some reason, need to go through the document path to crystallize their power

Uma proposta de serviço de referência virtual para as bibliotecas da Universidade Federal Fluminense

: O serviço de referência é uma função vital em qualquer biblioteca. O advento da internet trouxe vários benefícios para os bibliotecários abrindo um leque de possibilidades para o trabalho do bibliotecário de referência. Considerando que várias bibliotecas utilizam as mídias sociais, sites e emails, com o propósito de se relacionar com seus usuários, a utilização de uma política de serviço de referência virtual, que delineie diretrizes para esta prática, é de extrema importância. Contudo, várias bibliotecas não possuem uma política para o serviço de referência virtual. Assim, o presente trabalho apresenta uma proposta de serviço de referência virtual para as bibliotecas da Universidade Federal Fluminense. Informational practices in Portal Geledés: stories and representations about black women

Analisa o conteúdo produzido e compartilhado nas postagens sobre as mulheres negras na plataforma digital Geledés –Instituto da Mulher Negra. Descreve a importância em discutir como as mulheres são representadas naquele portal e pretende evidenciar o papel social da informação, a fim de oportunizar as discussões para a transformação das condições em que vivem os sujeitos. Discute a presença datemática racial e de gênero noâmbito da Ciência da Informação (CI) ao tratar das práticas informacionais, na sua imbricação entre a informação e os sujeitos que a produzem e disseminam, assim como as relações de poder que se revelam a partir de apagamentos e silenciamentos de identidades de grupos sociais. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza básica, exploratória-descritiva e abordagem qualitativa que busca contribuir para a reflexão no âmbito social e promover discussões sobre a representação das mulheres negras nas postagens publicadas no portal. Emprega a metodologia da Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin para postagens que tratam de temáticas referentes às questões de raça e gênero, suas intersecções e,como se evidenciam neste portal. Objetiva compreender como são constituídas as representações sociais sobre mulheres negras a partir postagens compartilhadas no portal Geledés. A análise de conteúdo foi efetivada a partirdasetapas de leitura, compreensão, agrupamento e codificação dos conteúdos produzidos de acordo com as categorias de análise emergidas docorpus da pesquisa que evidenciaram as práticas informacionais na web na forma de interação desses sujeitos noespaço, com o uso de diferentes hipermídias como possibilidade de ampliar e validar os seus discursos sobre as mulheres negras que se valeram de experiências e diferentes relatos, fossem depoimentos, notícias, entrevistas. Utiliza outras linguagens comunicacionais como alternativa de ampliação do conhecimento e ratificação das suas falas sobre a representação das mulheres negras. O estudo exploratório na web evidenciou a manifestação dessas mulheres em um espaço não somente de partilha, mas de proposição de novos discursos em que se permitem visibilizar as vozes das mulheres, ao narrar as experiências de uma representação social instituída que naturaliza histórica e cotidianamente um lugar negro e feminino de subjugaçãoparacontrapor essa representação a uma nova, estruturada em um pensamento coletivo a partir de relatos que firmam nesse espaço coletivo e transversal uma identidade coletiva e solidária, para revelar e construir alicerces às suas subjetividades e igualdade de direitos.It analyzes the content produced and shared in the posts about black women on the digital platform Geledés –Instituto da Mulher Negra. It describes the importance of discussing how women are represented on that portal and intends to highlight the social role of information, in order to provide opportunities for discussions to transform the conditions in which the subjects live. Discusses the presence of racial and gender themes in the scope of Information Science (CI) when dealing with informational practices, in their imbrication between information and the subjects who produce and disseminate it, as well as the power relations that are revealed from of erasures and silencing of social group identities. This is a basic, exploratory-descriptive research with a qualitative approach that seeks to contribute to reflection in the social sphere and promote discussions on the representation of black women in the posts published on the portal. It uses the methodology of Bardin's Content Analysis for poststhat deal with themes related to race and gender issues, their intersections and, as evidenced in this portal. It aims to understand how social representations about black women are constituted from posts shared on the Geledés portal.The content analysis was carried out from the stages of reading, understanding, grouping and coding of the contents produced according to the categories of analysis emerged from the research corpus that evidenced the informational practices on the web in the form of interaction of these subjects in space, with the use of different hypermedia as a possibility to expand and validate their discourses on black women who drew on experiences and different reports, whether testimonials, news, interviews. It uses other communicational languages as an alternative to expand knowledge and ratify its statements about the representation of black women. The exploratory study on the web showed the manifestation of these women in a space not only of sharing, but of proposing new discourses in which women's voices are allowed to be made visible, when narrating the experiences of an instituted social representation that historically and daily naturalizes a place. black and feminine of subjugation to oppose this representation to a new one, structured in a collective thought from reports that establish in this collective and transversal space a collective and solidary identity, to reveal and build foundations for their subjectivities and equality of rights

Tattoo: a information record on the body?

No contemporâneo ocidental, a modificação corporal pode servir como um meio de rememoração subjetiva ou informativa através de símbolos, adornos e demais manifestações de cunho pessoal, objetivando representar algo para si ou para o outro. As conexões entre informação e tatuagem fo- ram abordadas a partir da visão de tatuadores sobre o corpo como um diário do indivíduo que as carrega na epiderme. Metodologicamente, o estudo é qualitativo, exploratório, de natureza básica e utiliza o método da história oral. Empiricamente, foram entrevistados três tatuadores da cidade de Porto Alegre, de modo a averiguar o ato de tatuar-se (ou a outrem) como um registro informacional. A análise das entrevistas semiestruturadas evidenciou que há diferentes razões que levam pessoas a se tatuarem e os entrevistados consideram a tatuagem como um registro de história pessoal. Algu- mas enunciações revelam uma intenção de informar e outras tributam o ato de tatuar-se como moda ou registro particular de memória, sem intencionalidade de informar a terceiros. Conclui-se que a tatuagem pode ser considerada ora como um registro subjetivo de memória e afeto íntimo não dire- cionado para outras pessoas, ora como uma oferta comunicacional de significado a outrem.In the contemporary Western, the corporal modification can serve as a means of subjective or in- formative remembrance through symbols, adornments and other personal manifestations, aiming to represent something for oneself or for the other. The connections between information and tattoo were approached from the view of tattoo artists about the body as a diary of the individual who car- ries them into the epidermis. Methodologically, the study has qualitative, exploratory, basic and uses the oral history method. Empirically, three tattoo artists from the city of Porto Alegre were inter- viewed, in order to investigate the act of tattooing to yourself (or other) as an informational record. The analysis of the semi-structured interviews showed that there are different reasons that lead peo- ple to tattoo themselves and those interviewed consider the tattoo as a personal history record. Some enunciations reveal an intention to inform and others tax the act of tattooing as a fashion or private memory record, without the intention of informing others. It is concluded that the tattoo may be con- sidered sometimes as a subjective record of intimate memory and affection not directed at other people, sometimes as a communicational offer of meaning to others

Archives as places of memory through archival diffusion

Este artigo visa fazer uma reflexão sobre como a difusão arquivística pode auxiliar na efetivação dos arquivos enquanto lugares de memória. Problematiza esta visão, uma vez que ressalta a importância dos arquivos como espaços para disseminação de informações e memória. Da mesma forma, contri- bui para as pesquisas em torno da difusão arquivística, propondo uma análise sobre a importância desta função no processo de efetivação dos arquivos como espaços com duplo papel de lugar de informação e de memória coletiva e individual. A metodologia utilizada é qualitativa com uma pes- quisa bibliográfica, que utilizou como fontes de informação livros e artigos sobre o tema. Observou- se que os lugares de memória não são impostos, são construídos a partir de uma identificação das pessoas com o lugar, já que a afirmação de uma identidade e o sentimento de identificação e perten- cimento com um lugar são basilares para a efetivação de um lugar como de memória. Entende-se que a aura simbólica necessária para efetivação dos arquivos como lugares de memória, perpassa o tratamento adequado do acervo custodiado nas instituições. Quanto às conclusões, percebe-se nos arquivos todas as ferramentas para que estes sejam eleitos como lugares de memória. No entanto, compreende-se que a difusão é condição de possibilidade necessária e fundamental no processo de efetivação dos arquivos como lugares de memória.This article aims to reflect on how archival diffusion can help to make archives effective as places of memory. It problematizes this view, since it emphasizes the importance of archives as spaces for the dissemination of information and memory. Likewise, it contributes to research on archival diffusion, proposing an analysis of the importance of this function in the process of making archives effective as spaces with a dual role as a place of information and collective and individual memory. The method- ology used is qualitative with bibliographical research that used as sources of information books and articles on the subject. It was observed that places of memory are not imposed, they are built from an identification of people with the place, since the affirmation of an identity and the feeling of identifi- cation and belonging to a place are fundamental for the realization of a place. as from memory. It is understood that the symbolic aura necessary for the realization of the archives as places of memory, permeates the proper treatment of the collection held in the institutions. As for the conclusions, one can see in the archives all the tools for them to be elected as places of memory. However, it is under- stood that diffusion is a necessary and fundamental condition of possibility in the process of making archives effective as places of memory

O ESTUDO DA MEMÓRIA SOCIAL NA GRADUAÇÃO EM CIÊNCIA DA INFORMAÇÃO: Um relato de experiência

O presente trabalho apresenta um relato de experiência docente junto à disciplina Informação e Memória Social, do Departamento de Ciência da Informação da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. A disciplina é ofertada como matéria obrigatória no currículo do curso de graduação em Museologia e como eletiva nos currículos dos cursos de Arquivologia, Biblioteconomia, Jornalismo, Publicidade e Propaganda, Relações Públicas e História da Arte. Com base nessa experiência didática no decorrer do semestre 2017/2, descrevem-se os principais autores e conceitos estudados, a sistemática das aulas e a metodologia de avaliação aplicada aos discentes. O conteúdo programático inclui referências sobre memória, esquecimento, memória neurofisiológica, falsas memórias, memória coletiva, memória social, memória e história, direito à memória, memória institucional, memória virtual, nostalgia e noções sobre a dimensão política da memória e o patrimônio, sempre tendo em vista o papel das práticas informacionais nos processos mnemônicos. A partir dessa experiência, são apresentadas formas de se trabalhar os autores e as teorias do campo de estudo em Memória Social na área da Ciência da Informação, de modo a evidenciar as suas principais contribuições para a área, sempre buscando uma abordagem pedagógica atualizada aos nativos da era digital

Evolution of seed dispersal in the Cerrado biome : ecological and phylogenetic considerations

The investigation of the phylogeny of a group of organisms has the potential to identify ecological and evolutionary processes that have been occurring within a community. Seed dispersal is a key process in the life cycle of vegetation and reflects different reproductive strategies of plants to a set of ecological and evolutionary factors. Knowing the dispersal syndromes and fruits types of a plant community may help elucidate plant-animal interactions and colonization strategies of plants. We investigated dispersal syndromes and fruit types in Cerrado formations as a parameter for understanding the evolution of angiosperm reproductive strategies in this mega-diverse tropical biome. To do this we identified and mapped the distribution of different parameters associated with seed dispersal on a phylogeny of Cerrado angiosperms genera and tested the presence of phylogenetic signal. The results showed that there were strong relationships between fruit types, seed dispersal strategies and vegetation life forms and that these traits were closely related to angiosperms phylogeny and, together, contribute to the evolution of plants in the forest, savanna and grassland formations of the Cerrado biome
