Relativistic quantum dynamics of scalar bosons under a full vector Coulomb interaction

The relativistic quantum dynamics of scalar bosons in the background of a full vector coupling (minimal plus nonminimal vector couplings) is explored in the context of the Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau formalism. The Coulomb phase shift is determined for a general mixing of couplings and it is shown that the space component of the nonminimal coupling is a {\it sine qua non} condition for the exact closed-form scattering amplitude. It follows that the Rutherford cross section vanishes in the absence of the time component of the minimal coupling. Bound-state solutions obtained from the poles of the partial scattering amplitude show that the time component of the minimal coupling plays an essential role. The bound-state solutions depend on the nonminimal coupling and the spectrum consists of particles or antiparticles depending on the sign of the time component of the minimal coupling without chance for pair production even in the presence of strong couplings. MOSAIX: a tool to built large mosaics from GALEX images

Large sky surveys are providing a huge amount of information for studies of the interstellar medium, the galactic structure or the cosmic web. Setting into a common frame information coming from different wavelengths, over large fields of view, is needed for this kind of research. GALEX is the only nearly all-sky survey at ultraviolet wavelengths and contains fundamental information for all types of studies. GALEX field of view is circular embedded in a squared matrix of 3840 x 3840 pixels. This fact makes it hard to get GALEX images properly overlapped with the existing astronomical tools such as Aladin or Montage. We developed our own software for this purpose. Trapping neutral fermions with kink-like potentials

The intrinsically relativistic problem of neutral fermions subject to kink--like potentials ($\sim \mathrm{tanh} \gamma x$) is investigated and the exact bound-state solutions are found. Apart from the lonely hump solutions for $E=\pm mc^{2}$, the problem is mapped into the exactly solvable Surm-Liouville problem with a modified P\"{o}schl-Teller potential. An apparent paradox concerning the uncertainty principle is solved by resorting to the concepts of effective mass and effective Compton wavelength.Comment: 13 page

Signatures of diffuse interstellar gas in the Galaxy Evolution Explorer all sky survey

The all sky survey run by the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX AIS) mapped about 85% of the Galaxy at ultraviolet (UV) wavelengths and detected the diffuse UV background produced by the scattering of the radiation from OBA stars by interstellar dust grains. Against this background, diffuse weak structures are detected as well as the UV counterparts to nebulae and molecular clouds. To make full profit of the survey, unsupervised and semi-supervised procedures need to be implemented. The main objective of this work is to implement and analyze the results of the method developed by us for the blind detection of ISM features in the GALEX AIS . Most ISM features are detected at very low signal levels (dark filaments, globules) against the already faint UV background. We have defined an index, the UV background fluctuations index (or UBF index), to identify areas of the sky where these fluctuations are detected. The algorithm is applied to the images obtained in the FUV (1344 -1786 Angstroms) band since this is less polluted by stellar sources, facilitating the automated detection. The UBF index is shown to be sensitive to the main star forming regions within the Gould's Belt, as well as to some prominent loops like Loop I or the Eridanus and Monogem areas. MULTILETRAMENTOS EM AULAS DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA: PRODUÇÃO DE CURTAS-METRAGENS

A experiência relatada neste texto objetivou aprimorar os usos da leitura e, principalmente, da escrita, numa perspectiva multimodal, por parte dos alunos, a partir da produção de curtas-metragens. A proposta, embasada nos fundamentos teóricos a respeito da Pedagogia dos Multiletramentos, conceito cunhado pelo Grupo de Nova Londres (GNL), ocorreu em aulas de Língua Portuguesa, com alunos que cursavam o 9º ano do Ensino Fundamental, em uma escola pública de Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais). A partir de quatro etapas aplicadas: I- Contextualização da proposta, II. Leitura e escolha dos textos literários, III. Produção textual multimodal, IV. Circulação dos curtas e avaliação, as quais foram detalhadamente descritas e analisadas, foi possível evidenciar a relevância da leitura e da escrita, por meio das múltiplas linguagens, de modo contextualizado, crítico e criativo. Por essa razão, para além do objetivo citado, acredita-se na possibilidade de que este relato de experiência possa guiar professores, principalmente os de língua materna, na concretização de uma prática escolar de produção textual que não se limite à linguagem verbal

Artrópodes infestantes de plantas comercializadas em supermercados no Distrito Federal, Brasil

Many Brazilian supermarkets offer ornamental and fruit plants for sale, and many become infested by insects and other arthropods during commercialization. This work reflects the importance of knowing the pests that occur in these plants, to verify possible dissemination of these arthropods to other areas. This study was carried out with monthly visits to five supermarkets chosen at random in the Federal District, Brazil. The plants were identified and visually inspected for the presence of insects and other arthropods. The collected specimens were preserved in jars containing 70% alcohol. Their respective levels of infestation and damage were also observed and noted. Each specimen collected was identified according to specific books and keys for each taxonomic group collected. As a result, 65 plants were found to be infested with insects and mites. Of these, 48 contained sucking insects (Hemiptera) and 17 had spider mites (Tetranychus urticae Koch). Although the insects found are relatively common and have already been reported to be associated with several ornamental plants, this is the first work that records the occurrence of arthropods in ornamentals sold in commercial establishments.Os principais mercados brasileiros oferecem plantas ornamentais e frutíferas para a venda e muitas delas acabam sendo infestadas por insetos e outros artrópodes durante a comercialização. Esse trabalho reflete a importância de se conhecer as pragas que ocorrem nessas plantas, com o propósito de verificar um possível meio de disseminação desses animais para outras áreas. O presente trabalho foi realizado com visitas mensais em cinco supermercados escolhidos de forma aleatória situados no Distrito Federal, Brasil. As plantas foram identificadas e inspecionadas visualmente quanto à presença de insetos e outros artrópodes. Os espécimes coletados foram preservados em potes contendo álcool 70% e seus respectivos níveis de infestação e danos também foram observados e anotados. A identificação de cada exemplar coletado foi feita de acordo com livros e chaves específicas para cada grupo taxonômico encontrado. Como resultado, foram encontradas 65 plantas infestadas com insetos e ácaros. Destas, 48 continham insetos sugadores (Hemiptera) e 17 estavam com ácaro-rajado (Tetranychus urticae Koch). Apesar dos insetos encontrados serem relativamente comuns e já terem sido relatados associados a várias plantas ornamentais, esse é o primeiro trabalho que registra a ocorrência de artrópodes em ornamentais vendidas em estabelecimentos comerciais

MULTILETRAMENTOS NA PRODUÇÃO DO GÊNERO DISCURSIVO MARCADOR DE PÁGINA

Este estudo, fundamentado nas teorias a respeito dos multiletramentos e dos gêneros discursivos, objetivou caracterizar e analisar como uma docente de Língua Portuguesa explorou a escrita do gênero discursivo multimodal marcador de página, em um evento de letramento, com alunos dos Anos Finais do Ensino Fundamental. Com isso se intencionou problematizar possibilidades e desafios que emergem de práticas dessa natureza em prol dos multiletramentos. Do ponto de vista metodológico, a investigação ocorreu por meio da observação participante da prática de uma professora em três turmas de 8º ano, em uma escola pública de Ouro Preto (Minas Gerais). A partir disso, foi perceptível depreender possibilidades didáticas e discursivas, por exemplo, referentes à valorização das múltiplas linguagens em uma prática social de produção de um gênero discursivo composto por um projeto gráfico-visual. Além disso, foi possível discutir entraves inerentes às práticas multiletradas no ensino de Língua Portuguesa, como a escolarização de um gênero discursivo, o que implica mudanças de tecnologias e de recursos usados em processos de escrita
