Bailout Embeddings, Targeting of KAM Orbits, and the Control of Hamiltonian Chaos
We present a novel technique, which we term bailout embedding, that can be
used to target orbits having particular properties out of all orbits in a flow
or map. We explicitly construct a bailout embedding for Hamiltonian systems so
as to target KAM orbits. We show how the bailout dynamics is able to lock onto
extremely small KAM islands in an ergodic sea.Comment: 3 figures, 9 subpanel

Analysis of molecular changes induced by mineral trioxide aggregate on sPLA2
The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of MTA on the structure and enzymatic activity of sPLA2 in order to provide subsidies for improvement in the formulation of the product. MTA powder was incubated for 60 min in the presence of sPLA2 and was analyzed by chromatography, electrospray mass (ESI-MS) and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). It was find that the elution profile, retention time, and fragmentation of sPLA2 were altered after treatment with MTA. Calcium was the MTA component that most amplified the inflammatory signal. Significant interactions were found between MTA and sPLA2, which could aid in our understanding of the mechanisms of action of MTA during the inflammatory process and it may facilitate the structural modification of MTA, thereby improving its biological safety and consequently the rate of the treatment success305453458The authors wish to thank the National Laboratory of Synchrotron Light (LNLS - Brazil) for the use of their facility and equipment and to Brazilian division of the IADR (SBPqO), which partially supported this study through PRONAC award. Plasmodium vivax gametocytes in the bone marrow of an acute malaria patient and changes in the erythroid miRNA profile
Plasmodium vivax is the most widely distributed human malaria parasite and responsible for large amounts of disease and burden [1]. The presence of P. vivax in the bone marrow was first noticed in the late 19th century [2], and examinations of sternal bone marrow aspirates were performed as an accessory to examinations of peripheral blood in malaria, including P. vivax [3]. Since then, little progress has been made in studying P. vivax infections in this tissue. One report explored accumulation of dyserythropoietic cells in anaemic infected patients [4]. In addition, two case studies reported P. vivax infections after autologous bone marrow transplantation [5][6], and a third one documented an accidental P. vivax infection due to bone marrow transplantation between a malaria-infected donor and a malaria-free receptor [7]. In Brazil, one patient with persistent thrombocytopaenia and an enlarged spleen was diagnosed with chronic P. vivax malaria after the finding of schizonts in the bone marrow aspirate [8]. In all these reports and case studies, however, parasite loads and life stages found in the bone marrow were not investigated, and no molecular tools were available to rule out mixed infections or to characterize specific parasite stages

Engram-specific transcriptome profiling of contextual memory consolidation
Sparse populations of neurons in the dentate gyrus (DG) of the hippocampus are causally
implicated in the encoding of contextual fear memories. However, engram-specific molecular
mechanisms underlying memory consolidation remain largely unknown. Here we perform
unbiased RNA sequencing of DG engram neurons 24 h after contextual fear conditioning to
identify transcriptome changes specific to memory consolidation. DG engram neurons exhibit
a highly distinct pattern of gene expression, in which CREB-dependent transcription features
prominently (P = 6.2 × 10−13), including Atf3 (P = 2.4 × 10−41), Penk (P = 1.3 × 10−15), and
Kcnq3 (P = 3.1 × 10−12). Moreover, we validate the functional relevance of the RNAseq
findings by establishing the causal requirement of intact CREB function specifically within the
DG engram during memory consolidation, and identify a novel group of CREB target genes
involved in the encoding of long-term memory
