Curriculum transversality in the higher education context

La idea de una enseñanza de calidad que satisfaga a los usuarios del sistema universitario es el entandarte del nuevo modelo de Universidad del siglo XXI. Afrontar este nuevo reto es asumir la existencia de elementos y situaciones que requieren cambios, y una actitud de reto e innovación hacia la mejora del sistema. Tenemos que ofrecer metodologías que se adapten a las distintas situaciones, intereses, ritmos de aprendizaje y circunstancias particulares. En nuestro artículo intentamos dar algunas claves para mejorar los procesos de enseñanza aprendizaje en el marco de la enseñanza universitaria, donde la “transversalidad”, entendida como una estrategia de actuación docente, se nos presenta como un medio para conectar el aprendizaje de los contenidos universitarios con el aprendizaje de los procedimientos y estrategias para aprender más y mejor. Sólo mediante el establecimiento de puentes de unión entre el aprendizaje académico y el aprendizaje natural podremos conseguir que nuestros alumnos universitarios aprendan de una forma más eficaz y por consiguiente conseguir una mayor calidad educativa.The idea of a high quality education that satisfies all the users of the educational system is the goal of the new model of the XXI century university. Aproaching this new challenge is asuming the existence of elements and situations that require multiple changes and an innovative position through the system improvement. Different methods adapted to several and particular situations, interests and learning rithm have to be offered. This article aims to bring some keys that allow to improve learning and teaching processes in the context of the higher education, where “transversality”, understood as a strategy of the teacher role, it is a tool that connects learning of contents to learning of procedures and strategies, in order to learn more and better. An alternative approach to predicting bank credit risk in Europe with Google data

6 p.The aim of this paper is to construct an alternative approach based on a sentiment index to measure bank credit risk in European countries using an alternative approach instead of traditional measures. Specifically, we use Google data for a set of keywords related to bank credit risk to capture investor sentiment. The resulting index shows a great similarity to traditional indexes based on bank CDS. The out-of-sample analysis demonstrates that our sentiment index is helpful for predicting bank credit risk during periods of financial distress, since it enhances the accuracy of the estimations.S

Effect on wear resistance of nanoparticles addition to a powder polyester coating through ball milling

Proceeding of: 13th Coatings Science International Conference (COSI 2017),The wear properties of a textured polyester powder coating with pyrogenic silica nanoparticles addition were evaluated. Raw powders of a commercial, textured polyester organic coating were mixed with low amounts of SiO2 nanoparticles (0.5&-3 wt%) using ball milling, a simple and economical method. Nanoparticles were mixed into the powder of thermoset organic coating for 10 min in a two-body planetary ball mill. Particle size distribution of the powder was measured to evaluate the milling effect. The coatings were applied and cured in an industrial installation on aluminum substrates. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) images of the coatings were taken to analyze the homogeneity of the organic coating. Roughness, gloss and color were measured in order to evaluate their appearance. The effect of nanoparticles on abrasive and erosion wear performances was measured. Pin-on-disk wear tests were carried out. Erosion measurements were performed with free fall of sand on the samples, a test based on ASTM D968 standard. The results showed that the milling process provides a good distribution of nanoparticles as no agglomerates were found. The addition of 0.5 wt% silica nanoparticles allows for improvement of the wear resistance of the coatings.The authors acknowledge the financial support of Interreg SUDOE, through KrEaTive Habitat project (Ref. Naturbanización y desarrollo urbano en el área de influencia del Parque Nacional de Sierra Nevada, Andalucía

El concepto de “naturbanización” explica cómo la presencia de un espacio natural protegido estimula los procesos de urbanización en las áreas de influencia de los parques nacionales y/o naturales. El reconocimiento de la calidad ambiental y paisajística de determinados ámbitos está motivando cambios en las preferencias residenciales, productivas y de ocio por parte de la población, que se muestra cada vez menos dependiente de las dinámicas impuestas por las áreas urbanas. Esta comunicación se centra en el análisis de la dinámica y evolución del espacio construido como síntoma asociado a los procesos de naturbanización. Para ello se han seleccionado tres municipios montanos pertenecientes al área de influencia del parque nacional de Sierra Nevada: Bubión, Cañar y Dúrcal. La cartografía y las fotografías aéreas abarcan medio siglo de cambios significativos en la evolución del espacio contruido, y corresponden a vuelos realizados en 1956, 1980, 1998 y 2004. El equipo de investigación ha desarrollado metodologías bien asentadas sobre tratamiento de información digital y reconocimiento de campo para la elaboración de cartografías interpretativas de los procesos territoriales. Esta metodología se articula gracias a la utilización de un sistema de información geográfica. Con el SIG se ha generado la información, se han representado gráficamente los cambios y, además, ha ayudado a su análisis. Los resultados ofrecerán una clara imagen del crecimiento urbano en los últimos 50 años, tanto el cambio de la superficie total, como los ritmos de crecimiento.The naturbanization concept explains the attraction that protected natural areas exercise towards a section of the population which wishes to live, work and enjoy its free time in surroundings with a high environmental value. This contribution refers to the analysis and evolution of residential development, new buildings and urban sprawl, as factors associated to naturbanization processes. For that authors have selected theree rural villages on the mountains, belonging to the influence area of Sierra Nevada National Park: Bubión, Cañar y Dúrcal. Maps and aerial photographs cover half of a century of signifi cativally changes in building development, based on images taken in 1956, 1980, 1998 y 2004. The research group has development methodologies for remote sening and fi ledwork. These metholologies are based on geographical information systems. A política urbana em Madri: um relato provisório

Different stages of urban policies in Madris is our central reflexion of this article, trying to identify periods of internal coherence according to the city model pursuit and the actions developed. The description of actions is completed with an analysis of main key points in order to understand the difference and similitudes of the city model implemented by different governments even from the same party. Therefore, different factors are taken into account: if urban policiy is centered in the internal logic of the city, or if by contrary is oriented to a global context; if city is thought as a political space or mainly as a place for beneficts, or if the leadership of the different stages is local or is belongs to other government levels.El artículo reflexiona sobre las diferentes etapas por las que ha transcurrido la política urbana de la ciudad de Madrid, tratando de delimitar fases que presenten coherencia interna respecto del modelo de ciudad que se persigue y las acciones que se impulsan. La descripción de acciones se completa con una reflexión sobre las claves que permitirían entender las diferencias y similitudes en el modelo de ciudad que plantean distintos gobiernos que pertenecen al mismo partido político. Así se consideran diversos factores: si la política urbana se concentra en la lógica interna de la propia ciudad o se orienta hacia una lógica global; si se considera la ciudad como un espacio político o como un espacio de oportunidades económicas o si el protagonismo o liderazgo de las distintas fases es local o de otros niveles de gobierno.O artigo reflexiona sobre as diferentes etapas pelas quais transcorreu a política urbana da cidade de Madri, buscando delimitar fases que apresentem coerência interna face ao modelo de cidade buscado e as ações impulsionadas.
