Adaptive Multi-Pattern Fast Block-Matching Algorithm Based on Motion Classification Techniques
Motion estimation is the most time-consuming subsystem in a video codec. Thus, more efficient methods of motion estimation should be investigated. Real video sequences usually exhibit a wide-range of motion content as well as different degrees of detail, which become particularly difficult to manage by typical block-matching algorithms. Recent developments in the area of motion estimation have focused on the adaptation to video contents. Adaptive thresholds and multi-pattern search algorithms have shown to achieve good performance when they success to adjust to motion characteristics. This paper proposes an adaptive algorithm, called MCS, that makes use of an especially tailored classifier that detects some motion cues and chooses the search pattern that best fits to them. Specifically, a hierarchical structure of binary linear classifiers is proposed. Our experimental results show that MCS notably reduces the computational cost with respect to an state-of-the-art method while maintaining the qualityPublicad
In the centuries VI or VII rapidly changes the structure of the colloquial language. It goes from being a common Latin more or less unified to submit Romanesque varieties. The latin, practically already only under its written form, became a kind of cultural superlengua that plays the important role of written language and literary. In many other regions that had never known the latin as the language itself now assume it as a cultural, scientific and literary vehicle
Topological representation for monadic implication algebras
In this paper, every monadic implication algebra is represented as a union of a unique family of monadic filters of a suitable monadic Boolean algebra. Inspired by this representation, we introduce the notion of a monadic implication space, we give a topological representation for monadic implication algebras and we prove a dual equivalence between the category of monadic implication algebras and the category of monadic implication spaces.Fil: Abad, Manuel. Optimization of modular wiring harnesses by means of regression models for temperature prediction of wire bundles
Automotive wiring harnesses have become heavier and more complex due to their increasing number of electrical components. It is now desired to reduce their mass of copper. For this purpose, experimentation can be partially replaced by simulation, but it is still impossible to exhaustively simulate all of the combinations of modular wiring harness. This proposed approach consists of carrying out simulations using the FEM method and using their results to create regression models. Polynomial formulae can give the same information as simulations within a clearly reduced time and satisfying accuracy. An optimization algorithm introduced in this study will use them to assign new cable cross-sections of harnesses considering their currents and the ambient temperature.Postprint (author's final draft

Quality assurance mechanisms in agrifood: The case of the Spanish fresh meat sector
The largest fresh meat brand names in Spain are analyzed here to study how quality is signaled in agribusiness and how the underlying quality -assurance organizations work. Results show, first, that organizational form varies according to the specialization of the brand name. Publicly-controlled brand names are grounded on market contracting with individual producers, providing stronger incentives. In contrast, private brands rely more on hierarchy, taking advantage of its superiority in solving specific coordination problems. Second, the seemingly redundant coexistence of several quality indicators for a given product is explained in efficiency terms. Multiple brands are shown to be complementary, given their specialization in guaranteeing different attributes of the product.Quality assurance, co-branding, agriculture, vertical integration, contracts
