Introduction: Self-management programs are interesting strategies to prevent or reduce hand commitment in Systemic Sclerosis (SSc). Objective: Describe the current research on self-management hand care program for patients with SSc. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review focusing on self-management programs for SSc. Results: The MEDLINE search allowed the identification of 13 papers, after applying the exclusion criteria, 8 papers was selected for our analyses. Conclusion: Although the small number of studies, there are promising data regarding the benefits of self-management programs for hands in SSc

The purpose of this paper is - by reporting an experience of structuring processes and tools related to the strategic management of R&D in the electricity sector – to show the conditions and potential for improved efficiency, efficacy, and effectiveness in the R&D program set by ANEEL. The methodology is action research. This is because the proposed and tested model is the result of reflection and resolution of critical organizational issues, applied in a public company in the electric power sector. Act No. 9,991 of July 24, 2000 provides for the obligation on the part of concessionaires, permittees, and licensees in the electric power sector to invest part of their operating revenue in research and development (R&D). For the effective implementation of these legal obligations, companies prepare their annual R&D programs, comprising projects that aim at developing innovative solutions for their processes and increasing business efficiency. However, the urgency to comply with the contractual provisions, coupled with the small amount of experience most companies have when it comes to carrying out R&D activities and projects, has led to the gradual formation of a mode of R&D implementation and management that does not favor its optimization and alignment with the goals the utility companies and the sector’s own technological development . The approach proposed in this paper consists of structuring the processes and tools related to the management of R&D driven by innovation (R&D+i) and aligned with with the business strategy. These processes include the adoption of procedures and tools to manage structured, integrated decision-making flows involved in the innovation process, aiming at full alignment with business goals and objectives

This work aims to analyze the similarity and differences between the careers of professors and administrative technician in education (ATE) of Federal Institutions of Education. It is a descriptive research of a qualitative approach, and bibliographic and documentary type. The analysis based on current legislation, including normative provisions at the national level on people management applicable to these institutions, presenting the organization of work, the management of development, and the management of career compensation. In the systematization of the results, it was observed that the main divergences between both studied careers were the minimum requirement, weekly working hours, frequency control, flexibility to change the working hours, vacations, hiring substitute, entry requirements, career development, minimum interstitial for progression, time span, and possibility to leave for stricto sensu post-graduate during the probationary internship. The main contribution of the study is to present the particularities of the careers in these institutions, allowing a reflection on the challenges of the people management area in the implementation of human resources management policies and practices to keep the employees motivated and committed with the organization, despite the divergences presented in the legislation on the analyzed careers

INTRODUCTION: Epstein-Barr virus exposure appears to be an environmental trigger for rheumatoid arthritis that interacts with other risk factors. Relationships among anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies, the shared epitope, and smoking status have been observed in patients with rheumatoid arthritis from different populations. OBJECTIVE: To perform an association analysis of anti-Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen-1 antibodies, anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies, the shared epitope, and smoking status in Brazilian patients with rheumatoid arthritis. METHODS: In a case-control study, 140 rheumatoid arthritis patients and 143 healthy volunteers who were matched for age, sex, and ethnicity were recruited. Anti-Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen-1 antibodies and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies were examined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and shared epitope alleles were identified by genotyping. Smoking information was collected from all subjects. A comparative analysis of anti-Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen-1 antibodies, anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies, the shared epitope, and smoking status was performed in the patient group. Logistic regression analysis models were used to analyze the risk of rheumatoid arthritis. RESULTS: Anti-Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen-1 antibodies were not associated with anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies, shared epitope alleles, or smoking status. Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody positivity was significantly higher in smoking patients with shared epitope alleles (OR = 3.82). In a multivariate logistic regression analysis using stepwise selection, only anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies were found to be independently associated with rheumatoid arthritis (OR = 247.9). CONCLUSION: Anti-Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen-1 antibodies did not increase the risk of rheumatoid arthritis and were not associated with the rheumatoid arthritis risk factors studied. Smoking and shared epitope alleles were correlated with anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide-antibody-positive rheumatoid arthritis. Of the risk factors, only anticyclic citrullinated peptides antibodies were independently associated with rheumatoid arthritis susceptibility
