    Nidan Parivarjan is the first step towards Chikitsa of any disease. Shukra has an important functions, Shukra provides Dhairya, Prasannata (happiness), Bala (strength), Praharsh and Bija for Garbhotpatti. Due to modern life style Dhatu poshan gets vitiated. The result of Dushit dhatu poshan, Shukra dhatu is not nourished in proper way that is quantity and quality which leads to Shukra kshaya. It reflects in following symptoms of Shukra kshaya are Dourbalya, Pandutva, Medhravedana, Vrishanvedana, Shukra avisarga, Chirat praseka, Maithuna ashakti. Also the qualitative and quantitative vitiation of Shukra dhatu results in infertility. The aim is to study the aetiopathogenesis of Shukrakshaya. The Study of total 30 male patient was carried out after appropriate consultation. Subjective parameters are Pandutva, Dourbalya, Medhravedana, Vrushanvedana. Objective parameters are Semen volume, Sperm count, Sperm motility, Sperm morphology, Haemospermia. Vata and Pitta Dosha are main Doshas in the Samprapti of Shukrakshaya. Due to Hetu sevan vata and Pitta prakopa occurs and it affects Dhatuposhana and leads to Shukra dhatu kshaya. Aharajhetus, Viharajhetus, Manasikhetus and several other factors plays main role in Shukrakshaya

    Anticancer Activities of Plant Secondary Metabolites: Rice Callus Suspension Culture as a New Paradigm

    Plant natural products including alkaloids, polyphenols, terpenoids and flavonoids have been reported to exert anticancer activity by targeting various metabolic pathways. The biological pathways regulated by plant products can serve as novel drug targets. Plant natural compounds or their derivatives used for cancer treatment and some novel plant-based compounds which are used in clinical trials were discussed. Callus suspension culture with secondary metabolites can provide a continuous source of plant pharmaceuticals without time and space limitations. Previous research has shown that rice callus suspension culture can kill \u3e95% cancer cells with no significant effect on the growth of normal cells. The role of candidate genes and metabolites which are likely to be involved in the process and their potential to serve as anticancer and anti-inflammatory agents were discussed. Large scale production of plant callus suspension culture and its constituents can be achieved using elicitors which enhance specific secondary metabolites combined with bioprocess technology

    Chemometric Characterization of Strawberries and Blueberries according to Their Phenolic Profile: Combined Effect of Cultivar and Cultivation System

    Chemical characterizations of leaves and fruits that were obtained from organically and integrally produced strawberries ('Favette', 'Alba', and 'Clery') and blueberries ('Bluecrop', 'Duke', and 'Nui') from western Serbia were undertaken in this study. Phenolic analysis was done while using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to a linear ion trap-Orbitrap hybrid mass analyzer, while total phenolic content (TPC), total anthocyanin content (TAC), and radical-scavenging activity (RSA) by spectrophotometry. In general, leaves and fruits from blueberry showed higher levels of TPC and TAC as compared to strawberry. These chemical traits were larger in organic grown fruits and larger in leaves than fruits. The most abundant phenolics in leaves and fruits of blueberry was 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid, followed by quercetin 3-O-galactoside, while catechin, quercetin, and kaempferol 3-O-glucosid were dominant in the leaves and fruits of strawberry. cis, trans-Abscisic acid was detected in all fruit samples, but not in leaves. Blueberries (both fruits and leaves) were separated from strawberries, but only organic blueberry fruits were distinguished from integrated fruits, according to principal component analysis. Quercetin, kaempferol, 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid, ferulic acid, caffeic acid, catechin, p-coumaric acid, and p-hydroxybenzoic acid were the most influential phenolic compounds for the separation. Much higher contents of TPC, RSA, TAC, quercetin 3-O-galactoside, and quercetin were found in fruits and TPC, RSA, catechin, p-hydroxybenzoicacid, p-coumaricacid, and ferulic acid in leaves in all three blueberry cultivars and the strawberry cultivar 'Clery'. These phenolic compounds are good sources of antioxidant compounds with potentially high beneficial effects on human health

    Globally, the reliance of large-scale industries (LSI) on suppliers' performance has increased. Majority of single tier managed small-scale industries (STSSI) in manufacturing sector are last tier ancillaries to LSIs. Implementing quality management system to fulfil the requirements of customers is the challenge for STSSIs. This paper identifies and prioritises the LSIs' requirements, based on the actual documents specifying their 'supplier quality system assessment criteria' and 'vendor rating' criteria. Also; strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat (SWOT) factors pertaining to STSSIs, and, affecting development of quality management system have been identified and analysed. This Indian context study further presents the 'quality management model' for STSSIs by benchmarking LSIs requirements and using strengths and weakness factors advantageously.     Security of secret data is major concern in today’s digitized world. It is an important task to preserve the secret data from the probable threats, during the transmission. Various techniques [1,2,3,4,5,6] have been proposed in literature for secure transmission of data but not much work has been done on the secret transmission of images which is one of the difficult task to accomplish. One of the secret sharing schemes [11,7] which are used in literature to share the image transmission side can be applied either by using Blakeley's secret sharing scheme [2]) or Shamir's scheme [1] for sharing a secret. In this paper Shamir’s secret sharing scheme is analyzed and implemented on a fingerprint biometric trait. The motivation for secret sharing [1,2] comes from the concept of secure key management. The schemes allow a user to divide portions of a secret among a participants group. Any t or more participants from a participants group of n members can cooperate to regain the original secret while (t-1) or fewer participants cannot reveal anything about the original secret

    Antiglycation, Antioxidant and Antidiabetic Activity of Strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) Fruits during Ripening Stages

    ABSTRACT In present study, antiglycation, anti-oxidant and anti-diabetic potential of three different stages [Green (I), Greenish White (II), Whitish Red (III)] of strawberry was investigated. Time bound antiglycation activity of the extract was assayed by incubating guanosine with glucose or fructose with or without extract. To determine the anti-oxidant activity, antioxidant enzyme assays (Catalase, Peroxidase, Polyphenol oxidase) and free radical scavenging assays (Xanthine oxidase, superoxide anion free radical scavenging) were performed while anti-diabetic assays were carried out through measurement of inhibition of α-glucosidase and α-amylase activities. Maximum UV absorbance for glycation reactions was observed for 24 hrs. The superoxide scavenging activity of 100 µg fruit extract of stage I, II and III was found to be 4.35%, 18.74% and 16.28% respectively. Xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity showed a maximum percent inhibition of 60.68% at concentration of 702.46 µg ± 1.53 at stage III. IC 50 value for α-glucosidase and α -amylase activity at stage III was found to be 154.27 µg ± 33.12 and 195.28 µg ± 13.30 respectively. Present study demonstrates that strawberry during ripening stages exhibits potent antiglycation, antioxidant and anti-diabetic activities. Ripening stages of strawberry should further be investigated for mechanisms of antiglycation, antioxidant and anti-diabetic activities for management of diabetes

    Comprehensive evaluation of in vitro antioxidant activity, total phenols and chemical profiles of two commercially important strawberry varieties

    Strawberry is one of the most popular fruits globally because of its color, texture, and aroma. Previous studies have shown that the fruits are rich in antioxidant compounds like flavonoids, anthocyanins and proanthocyanins. We, for the first time, comprehensively evaluated the total phenol content, and antioxidant activity (based on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free-radical scavenging, anti-lipid peroxidation and ferric reduction potential (FRP) assay) of two popular strawberry cultivars namely, Sweet Charlie and Camarosa, at four different fruit developmental stages. A significant decrease in phenol content (nearly 89%) was observed in ripened fruits as compared to green fruits. The antioxidant potential, as evidenced by DPPH and FRP assays, increased gradually during fruit maturation with dose-dependent increase in activity. The EC50 values for DPPH and FRP assays ranged from 23.71±6.40% to 296.85±3.50% and 120.06±4.9μg to 219.50±1.0μg, respectively. The anti-lipid peroxidation assay also revealed a steady increase in activity from green to red fruit. The HPLC-DAD profiling of fruits revealed stage-specific chemical patterns during the four stages of fruit development. We studied the changes in concentrations of Chlorogenic acid, Catechin, Rutin and Quercetin during fruit developmental stages. It was clearly demonstrated that the antioxidant activity varied during fruit maturation stages. Maximum antioxidants were found to accumulate during the fruit ripening stage. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of such a comprehensive analysis of antioxidant potential of strawberry fruits from commercial varieties in India

    Agricultural water management practices to improve the climate resilience of irrigated agriculture in India

    The projected implications of climate change for water and agriculture to meet diverse and competitive water demands requires smart water management solutions. Science- and evidence-based, agricultural water management (AWM) can significantly contribute to reduce unsustainable water use and help enhance water resilience and adaptation to climate change. This paper presents a brief overview of potential AWM practices focusing on enhancing water resilience, increasing yields, and wherever possible, reducing emissions. This is achieved via increased land and water use efficiency, water and energy savings, and improved water productivity with considerable scope to improve agricultural resilience. In this context, the prioritization of a location-specific portfolio of smart AWM practices to make the right investment decisions is very important. We present two distinct and complementary approaches to prioritize AWM practices in this paper: one follows stakeholder analysis to build a prioritized portfolio of climate-smart AWM practices and the other employs a simple water balance-based approach to prioritize interventions. The way forward in mainstreaming and scaling out context-specific climate-smart AWM interventions is also discussed with a focus on capacity building, water management extension services, and the mobilization of resources through the convergence of institutions and co-financing from relevant development schemes
