[EN] All creation, work or aesthetic product require a medium that can contains, expresses, and moves even transports it; also, that guarantees its conservation, as long as the intention, ideas and concepts under which it has been thought and produced, carried out, as well as incorporating the characteristics that allow its storage and exhibition, even in later re_conceptualizations and poetics derived from its putting into circulation. The environment and the conditions in which it unfolds, the context, are an essential part of the act, action or object made with intention and aesthetic sense. It happens, however, that certain human activities not thought of or carried out with such an intention of producing a contemporary aesthetic sense or not (although the history of art allows us to have a false or strange sensation of simultaneity), for example religious activities, or those referred to food or consumer goods industries, or logistics, among many others, have a close relationship with the function and spiritual dimension of people and the societies they constitute and even their expectations, also with the transmission of a kind of desire for a better life beyond what is biologically estimated and probable, or of a more defined and better "labeled" diet... of a better organized and faster shipment, and of the transport and storage of bodies, including corpses (in their diversity, alimentary or sepulchral), of the organization of the home and its universe of needs. Through socio_economic, political_religious and symbolic regimes, their diverse communicative connectors -languages and media-, these activities and their discourses generate derivations and interweavings that excite creativity and the production of aesthetic critical sense and the use of referents, materials, expressions and narratives that become part of the series of meaning in the field of artistic creation and its specificities; about the contaminations inherent in the post-medial, Anthropocenic (quaternary period), ways of life and of the post-industrial and digital societies known as “advanced”, that is, those where the tertiary (services) and quaternary (research and development) sectors displace the transformation of the raw material. In a certain way, there is a phenomenon of pure connection, and a wide casuistry of re_connection: concepts, materials and operations that at a certain moment and under very different space-time, functional and symbolic parameters converge, again and now -hic et nunc- to approximate a different and diffracted reality of aesthetic-scientific knowledge placed at the service of communities, groups and broader sectors of the population (leisure).[ES] Toda creación y producto estético requiere de un medio que lo exprese y contenga, también que garantice su conservación, en tanto la intención o el concepto bajo el que se haya pensado y producido, así como incorporar las características que permitan su almacenaje y exposición, incluso en su conceptualización y poética.El medio, por tanto, es parte esencial de la acción, acto u objeto elaborado con intención y sentido estético.Sucede, sin embargo, que ciertas actividades humanas no pensadas o realizadas con tal intención de producción de sentido estético contemporáneo, por ejemplo, las religiosas o referidas a industrias alimentarias, entre otras muchas, tienen una estrecha relación con la función y la dimensión espiritual de las personas y las sociedades que estas constituyen y sus expectativas, y con la transmisión de un anhelo de vida más allá de la biológicamente estimada y probable, o de una alimentación más definida y mejor "etiquetada". A través de regímenes simbólicos diversos, generan, estas actividades y sus discursos, derivaciones y conexiones que excitan la creatividad y producción de sentido estético y el empleo de referentes, materiales y narrativas que pasan a formar parte de las series de sentido del campo de la creación artística.El almacenamiento y la conservación de productos, en términos generales, con independencia de categorías o funciones específicas, es esencial para la preservación, no ya del objeto en sí, también del conocimiento y la transmisión del mismo.Una imagen intensa e interesante durante la pandemia ha sido la que hemos podido vivir y ver en supermercados o en nuestros hogares: estantes vacíos, congeladores llenos y casas que se reorganizaban para superar el estrés del confinamiento y garantizar la habitabilidad de las unidades de habitabilidad.Ciertos ejemplos de estas derivaciones, tan históricos como contemporáneos, y extremamente actuales, son los casos de la momificación en la antigua civilización egipcia (una manera religiosa de almacenamiento y conservación -ALCO), ritual funerario que afecta y genera todo un universo mitológico y espectacular en lo literario, cinematográfico y en la cultura del comic, Caballero Luna (Marvel.1975 / 2022), o en la obra de artistas como Allan Maccollum y los surrogates del Perro de Pompeya (1991) (versión del resto arqueológico del año 79 d.C.); también en la obra de Ai Wei Wei y sus vasijas coloreadas (2006) (Colored Vases): jarrones de la dinastía Ham sumergidos en pintura) o en los proyectos de George Maciunas, One Year (1973/74) (envases de alimentos consumidos durante un año. 1973 / 74), entre otros muchos.El objetivo de esta investigación es trazar una serie de recorridos que sirvan para mostrar un paisaje en el cual la producción de sentido estético se ve atravesada por las necesidades múltiples del cuerpo social e individual y genera objetos de conocimiento que asumen en su constitución conceptual, poética y formal la conservación y el almacenamiento, como atributos y factores determinantes de su propia entidad estética.Maldonado Gómez, J. Images on the run *. Entropy, uncertainty and gravitation in the aesthetic analysis of visual meaning production (Reflections on a text by Robert Smithson)

[EN] In Artforum art magazine (June 1966) Robert Smithson (New Jersey, 1938) writes a disturbing and radical essay entitled Entropy and the new monuments. The essay analyzes the work of a series of artists and the conceptions involved in the production of the creators cited therein; also, of how such productions are inscribed in a certain space-time context. Smithson develops a series of concepts, which have been treated by him and by other authors and artists, in an intense and interesting way in conceptual, poetic and plastic terms, but at the same time with a scientific rigor calibrated in an exotic, strange way. and diffuse, but very suggestive and inspiring. Among the concepts used is entropy, which is both simple and enigmatic, but also complex and essential. The concept of entropy is relevant in semiotic terms to understand the inevitable interactions between different fields of knowledge and the structuring of both language and communicative action and its derivation. In this article, we analyze some of the concepts and definitions used by Smithson and other authors, artists or not, and the relevance they have for working with images, the production of meaning through them, and the constant retro-adjustment (retroreading, etc.) that we must apply to avoid, or at least slow down, the disappearance (degree of visibility) or leakage of the images constituted or conformed, independently of their nature. That is to say, an attempt is made to investigate the trend, through the generation and translation of mathematical physical matemas, among other tools, of the alleged images to the fugue both of their potential linguistic and plastic sense, visually (their disappearance, distancing or equilibrium), and the factors that make images and their production, emission and reception, independent and liberated knowledge objects with a high metaphorical potential, and therefore, linked with concepts and dynamics such as entropy, uncertainty and gravitation.[ES] En la revista de arte Artforum de junio de 1966 Robert Smithson (New Jersey, 1938) escribe un inquietante y radical ensayo que llevaba por título Entropía y los nuevos monumentos. El ensayo analiza el trabajo de una serie de artistas y las concepciones implicadas en la producción de los creadores citados en el mismo; también de cómo se inscriben en un determinado contexto espaciotemporal tales producciones. Smithson desarrolla una serie de conceptos, que han sido tratados tanto por él como por otros autores y artistas, de una manera intensa e interesante en términos conceptuales, poéticos y plásticos, pero a la vez con un rigor científico calibrado de una manera exótica, extraña y difusa, pero muy sugerente e inspiradora. Entre los conceptos empleados se encuentra el de entropía, que es a la vez sencillo y enigmático, pero también complejo y esencial. El concepto de entropía es relevante en términos semióticos para comprender las interacciones inevitables entre diferentes campos de conocimiento y la estructuración tanto del lenguaje como de la acción comunicativa y su deriva. En el presente artículo se analizan algunos de los conceptos y definiciones empleados por Smithson y otros autores, artistas o no, y la relevancia que estos tienen para el trabajo con imágenes, la producción de sentido a través de estas, y el constante retroajuste (retrolectura, etc…) que debemos aplicar para evitar, o al menos ralentizar, la desaparición (grado de visibilidad) o fuga de las imágenes constituidas o conformadas, independientemente de su naturaleza. Es decir, se intenta investigar la tendencia, a través de la generación y traslación de matemas físico matemáticos, entre otras herramientas, de las pretendidas imágenes a la fuga tanto de su potencial sentido lingüístico como plástica, visualmente (su desaparición, alejamiento o momento de equilibrio), y los factores que hacen de las imágenes y su producción, emisión y recepción, objetos de conocimiento independientes y liberados con un alto potencial metafórico, y por consiguiente, enlazados con conceptos y dinámicas tales como entropía, incertidumbre y gravitación.Maldonado Gómez, J. Investigación cualitativa en educación: reexaminando sus teorías, prácticas y desarrollos en una era científico-política

Since it entered education in the mid-20th century, qualitative research has been a well-established methodology among educational researchers. Its strength lies in its nature, scope, and methodological flexibility to understand education's cultural, social, political and moral phenomena. Between the 1970s and 1980s, the relevance and superiority of quantitative vs. qualitative research in education were debated in academic forums. The paradigm debate was so intense that it reached political discussions. In 2002, the National Research Council (NRC) of the United States of America recommended the Federal Department of Education the exclusion of qualitative research from federal funds because it was not considered scientific research. A similar situation was observed in England and Australia. Since then, qualitative research has continued to develop as a model of educational research with the support of private funds. This paper revisits qualitative education research and examines its developments to reposition itself as a legitimate model of scholarly research in a political-scientific era.Desde su aparición en la educación a mediados del siglo XX, la investigación cualitativa ha sido una metodología plenamente asentada entre los investigadores de la educación. Su principal valor reside en su naturaleza, alcance y flexibilidad metodológica, que permite comprender los fenómenos culturales, sociales, políticos y éticos de la educación. Entre los años setenta y ochenta del siglo XX fue muy debatido en los foros académicos la idoneidad y superioridad de la investigación cuantitativa frente a la cualitativa en el mundo educativo. La polémica sobre los paradigmas fue tan intenso que llegó incluso a los debates políticos. En 2002, el National Research Council (NRC) de los Estados Unidos recomendó al Federal Department of Education la exclusión de la investigación cualitativa de cualquier asignación de fondos federales al no considerarla dentro del concpeto de investigación científica. Una situación similar ocurrió en Reino Unido y Australia. Desde entonces, la investigación cualitativa ha continuado desarrollándose como modelo de investigación educativa, pero únicamente con el apoyo de fondos privados. Este artículo revisa la situación actual de la investigación educativa cualitativa y examina su evolución con el fin de reposicionarla como un modelo legítimo de investigación académica en una era político-científica

Capital público, actividad económica privada y efectos desbordamiento: Un análisis por Comunidades Autónomas de los sectores Industria y Construcción en España

En este trabajo se presenta una valoración del impacto de la infraestructura pública sobre la actividad privada española en los sectores de Industria y Construcción por CC.AA. para el período 1980-1993. El enfoque utilizado consiste en la estimación de una función de costes transcendental logarítmica, obteniendo resultados, entre otros, de la productividad del capital público y privado a corto y a largo plazo. Además, a diferencia de otros estudios, se considera la posible existencia de efectos desbordamiento del capital público entre regiones. Classification-JEL : D21, H54, O47. Unisite ATP hydrolysis by soluble Rhodospirillum rubrum F1–ATPase is accelerated by Ca2+

AbstractAt saturating concentrations of ATP, soluble F1 from the Rhodospirillum rubrum (RF1) exhibits a higher rate of hydrolysis with Ca2+ than with Mg2+. The mechanisms involved in the expression of a higher catalytic activity with Ca2+ were explored by measuring the ATPase activity of RF1 at substiochiometric concentrations of ATP (unisite conditions). At a ratio of 0.25 [γ-32P]ATP per RF1, the enzyme exhibited a 50 times higher hydrolytic rate with Ca2+ than with Mg2+. The rate of [γ-32P]ATP binding to RF1 was in the same range with the two divalent metal ions. Centrifugation–filtration of RF1 exposed to substoichiometric [γ-32P]ATP concentrations and Mg2+ through Sephadex columns yielded an enzyme that contained [γ-32P]ATP and [32P]phosphate in a stoichiometry that was close to one. In the presence of Ca2+, the eluted enzyme did not contain [γ-32P]ATP nor [32P]phosphate. This indicated that the rate of product release was faster with Ca2+ than with Mg2+. It was also observed that the ratio of multisite to unisite hydrolysis rates was of similar magnitude with both divalent cations. This suggests that they do not affect differently the cooperative mechanisms that may exist between catalytic sites. In consequence, the higher ATPase activity of RF1 in presence of Ca2+ strongly suggests that the retention time of products is decreased in the presence of this cation

Síndrome urticariforme en lactante postingesta de pescado de mar: a propósito de un caso

Los alérgenos son antígenos que pueden desencadenar una respuesta inmunológica exagerada en individuos sensibles, dentro de ellos los más frecuentes están representados por alimentos del mar, particularmente pescado, que contiene proteínas causantes de las reacciones inmunológicas-vasculares que conllevan a la aparición de los característicos habones y, ocasionalmente, episodio de anafilaxia. Se presenta el caso de un lactante mayor masculino de 12 meses de edad, quien presentó inicio de enfermedad actual hora y media postingesta de pescado de mar, caracterizada por lesiones eritematosas y pruriginosas extendidas. En el examen físico se evidenciaron habones de múltiples tamaños, confluentes, en cuello, tronco y extremidades, sin compromiso de otro órgano. Se indicó hidrocortisona por vía intravenosa, cediendo el cuadro a los 30 minutos después de su administración. En el presente trabajo se enfatiza la importancia del reconocimiento de los posibles alérgenos causales, así como del diagnóstico temprano y manejo terapéutico preciso, con el fin de evitar complicaciones en el paciente. Can a corporate well-being programme maintain the strengths of the healthy employee in times of COVID-19 and extensive remote working? An empirical case study.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the increase of working-from-home have drastically changed many aspects of work life, causing very negative effects on employees' physical and psycho-social well-being. Healthy organisations have healthy employees, who have at least five psycho-social strengths of engagement, self-efficacy, resilience, optimism and hope, which are reinforced by physical activity, relating to each other in a positive way and leading to numerous benefits for the company. These strengths are being weakened by the pandemic, and the aim of this empirical study is to analyse through a case study the effects of an updated corporate wellness programme in times of pandemic on these strengths of the healthy employee. The sample was of 251 employees, 91 women and 160 men. The instruments used were the International Physical Activity Questionnaire and the adaptation of the Healthy and Resilient Organization questionnaire. The results indicated that workers with high physical activity, higher seniority, well guided by supervisors, as well as a comprehensive (multi-component) well-being programme, not only physical but also psycho-social, and with the use of different digital tools (an App is not enough), can mitigate these negative effects. Whereas companies are grappling with reduced employee engagement among other harmful psychosocial and physical effects, this case study suggests that a good corporate well-being programme could help mitigate these detrimental consequences for their workforce and be helpful for the company to adapt to this rapidly changing workplace

Why fly blind? Event-based visual guidance for ornithopter robot flight

Under licence Creative Commons - Green Open Access (IEEE).The development of perception and control methods that allow bird-scale flapping-wing robots (a.k.a. ornithopters) to perform autonomously is an under-researched area. This paper presents a fully onboard event-based method for ornithopter robot visual guidance. The method uses event cameras to exploit their fast response and robustness against motion blur in order to feed the ornithopter control loop at high rates (100 Hz). The proposed scheme visually guides the robot using line features extracted in the event image plane and controls the flight by actuating over the horizontal and vertical tail deflections. It has been validated on board a real ornithopter robot with real-time computation in low-cost hardware. Calibración de instrumentos de evaluación-clasificación en matemáticas en la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano

Item Response Theory, IRT, is a valuable methodology for analyzing the quality of the instruments utilized in assessment of academic achievement. This article presents an implementation of the mentioned theory, particularly of the Rasch model, in order to calibrate items and the instrument used in the classification test for the Basic Mathematics subject at Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano. 509 responses chains of students, obtained in the june 2011 application, were analyzed with a set of 45 items, through eight case studies that are showing progressive steps of calibration. Criteria of validity of items and of whole instrument were defined and utilized, to select groups of responses chains and items that were finally used in the determination of parameters which then allowed the classification of assessed students by the test.La Teoría de Respuesta al Ítem, TRI, es una metodología valiosa para el análisis de la calidad de los instrumentos utilizados en evaluaciones de logro académico. En este artículo se presenta una implementación de la teoría mencionada, particularmente del modelo de Rasch, con el propósito de calibrar los ítems y el instrumento que se emplean en la prueba clasificatoria para la asignatura de Matemáticas Básicas en la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano. Se analizaron 509 cadenas de respuestas de estudiantes, obtenidas en la aplicación de junio de 2011, con un conjunto de 45 ítems, a través de ocho casos de estudio que van mostrando progresivamente los pasos de la calibración. Se definieron y utilizaron criterios de validez de los ítems y del instrumento en su conjunto, para seleccionar los grupos de cadenas de respuestas y de ítems que finalmente fueron empleados en la determinación de los parámetros que permitieron luego la clasificación de los estudiantes evaluados mediante la prueba

Inflammatory markers and bone mass in children with overweight/obesity: the role of muscular fitness

Objectives To examine which inflammatory markers are associated with bone mass and whether this association varies according to muscular fitness in children with overweight/obesity. Methods Plasma interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), epidermal growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF), and C-reactive protein were analyzed in 55 children aged 8–11 years. A muscular fitness score was computed. Bone mineral content (BMC) of the total body-less head (TBLH) and lumbar spine (LS) were assessed using dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry. Results IL-6 (β = −0.136) and VEGF (β = −0.099) were associated with TBLH BMC, while TNF-α (β = −0.345) and IL-1β (β = 0.212) were associated with LS BMC (P < 0.05). The interaction effect of muscular fitness showed a trend in the association of VEGF with TBLH BMC (P = 0.122) and TNF-α with LS BMC (P = 0.057). Stratified analyses by muscular fitness levels showed an inverse association of VEGF with TBLH BMC (β = −0.152) and TNF-α with LS BMC (β = −0.491) in the low-fitness group, while no association was found in the high-fitness group. Conclusion IL-6, VEGF, TNF-α, and IL-1β are significantly associated with bone mass. Higher muscular fitness may attenuate the adverse effect of high VEGF and TNF-α on bone mass
