Role of Androgens in Cardiovascular Diseases in Men: A Comprehensive Review

    Get PDF
The present knowledge on the androgens role in cardiovascular physiology is not fully completed. It remains unclear whether low serum testosterone concentrations in men are an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) or a marker of the presence of CVD. However, we demonstrated that endogenous testosterone levels may be implicated in CVDs. Androgens role in modulating cardiovascular function is one of the highest importances, given that its deficiency is strongly associated with hypertension, atherosclerosis, diabetes, obesity, and cardiac hypertrophy. Although significant and independent association between testosterone levels and cardiovascular events in elderly men have not been confirmed in large prospective studies, cross-sectional studies, however, suggested that low testosterone levels in elderly men are associated with CVDs. The results of androgen therapy are not also conclusive. Perhaps, the effects of testosterone treatment of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity have not been extensively examined in control studies. Data on male animal experimentation of the effect of testosterone replacement therapy are either neutral or beneficial on the development of atherosclerosis. Since circulatory androgen levels modulation is expected to cause many other side effects, it seems to be essential to develop a strategy to target androgen receptor for better treating the CVDs

An Approach for Design Search Engine Architecture for Document Summarization

Query focused multi document summarization is an emerging area of research. A lot of work has already been done on the subject and a lot more is going on. The following document outlines the effort done by us in this particular field. This work proposes an approach to address automatic Multi Document text summarization in response to a query given by a user. For the explosion of information in the World Wide Web, this work proposed a new method of query-focused multi-documents summarization using genetic algorithm, search engine are used to extract relevant documents and genetic algorithm is used to extract the sentences to form a summary, and it is based on a fitness function formed by three factors: query-focused feature, importance feature, and non-redundancy feature. Experimental result shows that the proposed summarization method can improve the performance of summary, genetic algorithm is efficient. We have developed a very powerful search engine one. On the same note, it also has a great potential for growth. It can be easily applied for systems with not only a few documents but for very large systems with a large number of documents

Multiple roles for basement membrane proteins in cancer progression and EMT

    No full text
Metastasis or the progression of malignancy poses a major challenge in cancer therapy and is the principal reason for increased mortality. The epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of the basement membrane (BM) allows cells of epithelial phenotype to transform into a mesenchymal-like (quasi-mesenchymal) phenotype and metastasize via the lymphovascular system through a metastatic cascade by intravasation and extravasation. This helps in the progression of carcinoma from the primary site to distant organs. Collagen, laminin, and integrin are the prime components of BM and help in tumor cell metastasis, which makes them ideal cancer drug targets. Further, recent studies have shown that collagen, laminin, and integrin can be used as a biomarker for metastatic cells. In this review, we have summarized the current knowledge of such therapeutics, which are either currently in preclinical or clinical stages and could be promising cancer therapeutics.Data availability: Not applicableScientific Research at Majmaah University [R-2022-117]Dr. Niraj Kumar Jha is thankful to Sharda University for the infra-structure and facility.
