Glauber Rocha no caminho da televisão

    Get PDF
This article aims to analyze the intellectual trajectory of Glauber Rocha, from his political and cultural experiences over the years 1970 to become a TV presenter. In his film production done abroad it is possible to realize an approach to television language, a kind of preparation for activity that would develop. Besides the films, intellectual production expressed in books, newspapers and magazines was the reason for analysis. In 1979, the Bahian filmmaker had an experience in program Abertura aired by Tupi Network. Despite being only 9 months in the air, his participation was intense, setting one of the most significant moments of Brazilian television in the 70s.Esse artigo tem como proposta analisar a trajetória intelectual de Glauber Rocha, partindo de suas experiências políticas e culturais ao longo dos anos 1970 até se tornar apresentador de televisão.

Ascidia sydneiensis Stimpson, 1855 is a solitary ascidian (Order Phlebobranchia) first described in the China Sea and Japan. Recently, it has been recorded in subtropical and tropical regions and is abundant in the Caribbean (Rocha et al., 2005; Worms, 2020). In Brazil, it was first recorded in the São Paulo State (Bjornberg, 1956) and ranges from Ceará to Santa Catarina (Rodrigues, 1962; Rocha and Nasser, 1998; Rocha and Costa, 2005; Rocha and Kremmer, 2005; Rocha et al., 2012). On the coast of Rio de Janeiro State, it was recorded at Ilha Grande Bay, Sepetiba Bay, Arraial do Cabo, and Búzios (Marins et al., 2010; Granthon-Costa et al., 2016)

    Get PDF

Reduced salivary flow and colonization by mutans streptococci in children with Down syndrome

OBJECTIVES: Although individuals with Down syndrome have considerable oral disease, the prevalence of dental caries in this group is low. The present study aimed to compare known risk factors for dental caries development in children with Down syndrome and a matched population (siblings). In both populations, the number of acidogenic microorganisms, such as mutans streptococci, lactobacilli and Candida species, and the paraffin-stimulated pH, flow rate and IgA concentration in whole saliva were evaluated and compared. METHOD: Saliva was collected, and the caries index was evaluated in 45 sibling pairs aged between 6 and 18 years old. The salivary IgA concentration was determined by immunoturbidimetry. Salivary mutans streptococci, lactobacilli and Candida species were quantified on mitis salivarius agar containing bacitracin and 20% sucrose, rogosa agar supplemented with glacial acetic acid and sabouraud agar supplemented with chloramphenicol, respectively. RESULTS: Down syndrome children had a higher caries-free rate (

Classic Ehlers-Danlos syndrome: Case report and brief review of literature

Easy bruising in children represents a diagnostic conundrum. Although trauma (accidental or not) and bleeding disturbances are the most common causes, other rarer etiologies should be considered in differential diagnosis. When a 4-year-old male patient presented with a history of bruising and hematomas after slight injuries coagulopathy and physical abuse were suspected. However, the presence of skin hyperextensibility, generalized joint hypermobility, atrophic and "cigarette paper" scars, pes planus, piezogenic pedal papules, and similar clinical picture in the mother, maternal uncle and grandfather, suggested a diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, classic type. Genetic study revealed a heterozygous variant (c.379C>T) in exon 3 of the COL5A1 gene, not previously described in the literature, confirming the clinical suspicion. The authors intend to draw attention to this rare and diagnostically challenging condition that should be correctly diagnosed for the early adoption of preventive measures.</p

The Pathophysiological Aspects of Cerebral Diseases

Introduction. Cerebrovascular disorders are the main causes of heavy burden health worldwide, also, it is critical to understand the pathophysiological mechanism and then trying to prevent the neurological sequels. Objective. To discuss the inflammatory and oxidative stress aspects associated to the cerebrovascular diseases, focusing on biomarkers, also the role of omega oils, and the intracellular molecular network associated to the tissue burden on those conditions. Results. One of the most promising biomarkers it is Neuron-Specific Enolase (NSE). Serum NSE levels were elevated in stroke-patients compared to the non-stroke controls. Also, studies have demonstrated that in specific ratio omega oils 3, 6 and 9 can ameliorate the inflammatory and oxidative stress in nervous tissue and could be useful to the inflammatory and oxidative stress negative effects of cerebrovascular diseases. In addition, the study of the molecular mechanisms is essential to understand which molecules could be addressed in cascade of events preventing the permanent damage on the nervous tissue. Final considerations. The studies on cerebrovascular disorders must precisely identify the mechanisms and key molecules involved and improve the time of diagnostics and prognostics reducing the negative impacts of those conditions
