The Notion of Action in Kotarbiński’s Praxeology

The aim of the paper is to recast main notions of Tadeusz Kotarbiński’s praxeolology in terms of Donald Davidson’s theory of action. The paper focuses also on ontological commitments of both theories. Though Kotarbiński did not admit events in his reistic ontology, in his praxeology conceived actions as compounded entities without any clue how to reduce the parts of action into things. I argue that Kotarbiński’s restrictive ontological reism cannot be maintained in case of praxeology, and propose to admit events as existing objects. This enables to simplify extremely complicated net of Kotarbiński’s concepts and to find the counterparts of the parts of action in Kotarbiński’s sense in Davidson’s theory of action

Criterios parciales de logicidad

The aim of this paper is show a global strategy for defining and connecting logical criteria. Three partial criteria are distinguished: transparency for expressions, topic neutrality for consequence relation, and universality for theories. A global criterion is suggested, and proved to be fulfilled by classical and intuionistic logic.El propósito de este trabajo es mostrar una estrategia general para construir y conectar criterios de logicidad. Ewangelizacja i formacja czytelników tygodnika katolickiego Niedziela na łamach edycji Niedziela. Kościół nad Odrą i Bałtykiem (2016–2020)

The text is a result of a research project titled “The significance of parish-distributed press for the evangelization and formation activities of the Szczecin-Kamień Church (2016–2020).” The project was realized by members of the Department of Media Evangelism of the Institute of Journalism as part of the basic statutory activity of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Cracow. Indicating the need for this research, it is worth noting that already several years ago, the Archdiocesan Archives in Szczecin planned a pastoral study on the topic of “Libraries and parish press in the Szczecin‑Kamień Archdiocese,” which was not implemented. The purpose of this study is to find an answer to the question of whether evangelization and formation of the Niedziela Catholic weekly readers is carried out through the message. The presentation of the 2016–2020 editions of the Szczecin-Kamień Niedziela delivers a positive answer: yes, by learning the thoughts and facts provided, the faithful of the archdiocese were able to engage more consciously and with greater commitment in the works of evangelization and formation that applied to them. The first part of the study is an explanation of what evangelization and formation activities that are mandatory for Catholics consist of and the necessity of using the means of social communication to carry out these activities. The second part describes content filling the eight pages of the weekly message addressed to the Roman Catholic Church on the Oder and Baltic were filled. The message included the teaching of the diocesan bishop, descriptions of the ways in which the faithful engage liturgically, accounts of archdiocesan and parish activities, in addition to the social teaching of August Cardinal Hlond and Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński. The third part of the article juxtaposes elements that make up evangelization and formation activities with content directed to Catholics in the weekly paper distributed in parishes. In this way, it was shown that each reader could not only witness the process of evangelization and formation taking place in the Szczecin-Kamień Archdiocese, but also get involved in it.Tekst należy do publikacji będących wynikiem realizacji projektu badawczego zatytułowanego „Znaczenie pism parafialnych dla ewangelizacyjnej i formacyjnej działalności Kościoła szczecińsko-kamieńskiego (2016–2020)”. Zrealizowany został przez członków Katedry Ewangelizacji Medialnej Instytutu Dziennikarstwa w ramach podstawowej działalności statutowej Wydziału Filozoficznego Akademii Ignatianum w Krakowie. Wskazując potrzebę realizacji tych badań, warto zaznaczyć, że już kilka lat temu w Archiwum Archidiecezjalnym w Szczecinie zaplanowano duszpasterskie badania na temat: „Biblioteki i prasa parafialna w archidiecezji szczecińsko-kamieńskiej”, które nie zostały zrealizowane. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest znalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy przez lekturę katolickiego tygodnika dokonuje się ewangelizacja i formacja odbiorców przekazywanych w nim treści. Prezentacja przykładowych treści edycji szczecińsko-kamieńskiej tygodnika „Niedziela” z lat 2016–2020 przekonuje do pozytywnej odpowiedzi: dzięki poznawaniu przekazywanych myśli i faktów wierni wskazanej archidiecezji mogli bardziej świadomie i z większym zaangażowaniem włączać się w obowiązujące ich działa ewangelizacji i formacji. Pierwszą część opracowania stanowi wytłumaczenie, na czym polegają zarówno obowiązujące katolików działania ewangelizacyjne i formacyjne, jak i konieczność wykorzystywania środków społecznego komunikowania do przeprowadzania tych działań. W drugiej części opisane zostały treści, którymi wypełnionych było osiem stron cotygodniowego przekazu kierowanego do Kościoła nad Odrą i Bałtykiem. Przekaz ten zawierał nauczanie biskupa diecezjalnego, opisy sposobów liturgicznego angażowania się wiernych, relacje z działalności o zasięgu archidiecezjalnym i parafialnym, społeczne nauczanie kard. Augusta Hlonda i kard. Stefana Wyszyńskiego. W trzeciej części artykułu zestawione zostały elementy tworzące działanie ewangelizacyjne i formacyjne z treściami kierowanymi do katolików na łamach rozprowadzanego w parafiach tygodnikach. W ten sposób pokazano, że każdy z czytelników mógł nie tylko dostrzec dokonujący się w archidiecezji szczecińsko-kamieńskiej proces ewangelizacji i formacji, lecz także zaangażować się w niego

Urzędy i urzędnicy w czasach księcia krakowsko-sandomierskiego Bolesława V Wstydliwego

Bolesław the Chaste is one of the longest reigning rulers of Poland. Treacherously murdered in Gąsawa, Leszek the White (the father of Boleslaw V) left his son with many unsettled matters in the field of internal politics. The reasserting of the position of the nobles was ensured by the long period of protective governance when Bolesław was underage. In the area of Bolesław’s court, the Duke’s office was particularly wellformed. Chancellors and vice-chancellors were supported by numerous chaplains and clerics in their work. In the times of the regency in the Chaste’s time and his proper reign of the Duchy of Kraków and Sandomierz, the sources show, for the first time, the appearance of many land and court offices. In the long epoch of Bolesław the Chaste, significant changes in the system and administration of the state were recorded. Court offices were transformed into land offices. The main purpose of the article is to present the changes that have been made, the mechanisms of promotions at offices and discuss the competences and staffing of some offices.Zamordowany w Gąsawie Leszek Biały, ojciec Bolesława V Wstydliwego, zostawił swojemu synowi w spadku wiele nieuporządkowanych spraw w zakresie polityki wewnętrznej. Długie rządy opiekuńcze za małoletniego Bolesława sprzyjały umacnianiu się pozycji możnych. W zakresie dworu księcia szczególnie dobrze ukształtowała się kancelaria. Kanclerze i podkanclerze wspierani byli w swej pracy przez licznych kapelanów i kleryków. W czasie regencji i za właściwych już rządów Bolesława Wstydliwego w księstwie krakowskim i sandomierskim, źródła wykazują pojawienie się po raz pierwszy wielu urzędów ziemskich i dworskich. W długiej epoce Bolesława Wstydliwego utrwalały się doniosłe zmiany w ustroju i administracji państwa. Urzędy dworskie uległy przeobrażeniu w urzędy ziemskie. Is working memory working against suggestion susceptibility? : results from extended version of DRM paradigm

The paper investigates relationship between working memory efficiency, defined as the result of its’ processing & storage capacity (Oberauer et al., 2003) and the tendency to (1) create assosiative memory distortions (false memories, FM); (2) yield under the influence of external, suggesting factors. Both issues were examined using extended version of Deese-Roediger-McDermott procedure (1959, 1995), modified in order to meet the study demands. Suggestion was contained in an ostentatious feedback information the participants (N=88) received during the DRM procedure. Working memory (WM) was measured by standardized tasks (n-back, Jaeggi et al., 2010; automatic-ospan, Unsworth et al., 2005). Study included 3 conditions, differing in the quality of suggestion (positive, negative or neutral). Participants were assigned into 3 groups, depending on results they achieved completing the WM tasks. Obtained results alongside the previously set hypothesis, revealed that (1) WM impacts individuals’ tendency to create false memories in DRM and (2) that the individuals showing higher rates in WM tasks are less willing to yield to suggestion compared to those with lesser ones. It also showed that the greater amount to shift (Gudjonsson, 2003), emerges under the negative suggestion condition (collating positive). Notwithstanding that the interaction effect did not achieve saliency, both analyzed factors (WM and suggesting content) are considered as meaningful to explain memory suggestion susceptibility in presented study. Although, obtained results emphasize the crucial role of WM efficiency, that is believed to decide the magnitude of feedback that is influential in every subject. Medialne opisy kultury jako poszukiwanie jej prawdziwego oblicza

The article confirms the thesis that culture is understood in various ways. There are people who do not know culture and those who want to know more about it. Such a desire stems from the need to solve the problem that arises from different understandings of culture and from the fact that what some people call culture, others call anti-culture. The fact that the media are used in the search for the true image of culture is presented in the article through an analysis of the messages presented in the media. If we assume that the role of the media is to help people to discover the truth by discussing issues that are relevant to people’s lives, we can say that they truly undertake such a task when it comes to culture. The media emphasize the fact that values such as truth, goodness, and beauty are present in culture. All of these values come from God and lead to him. They make mankind need and search for culture continuously. Thanks to them, we can experience holistic development and understand more deeply what the essence of true humanity is. Without these divine values, human life—marked by false anthropocentrism—will always be filled with activities that can be described as “anti-culture.” On the basis of selected texts, the article demonstrates the dependence between recognizing true culture and accepting responsibility for it. This responsibility is expressed in a constant effort to broaden one’s horizons of thought, to engage in various areas of life, and to create—through true uni­versal fraternity—various communities. This way, the proper development of not only culture, but also of humanity can take place. It is also the path which leads to an effective defense against secular humanism, which is so hostile to religion.Niniejsze opracowanie potwierdza tezę o zróżnicowanym pojmowaniu kul­tury. Są ludzie, którzy jej nie znają, i tacy, którzy chcą poznawać ją coraz dokładniej. Pragnienie takie spowodowane jest chęcią rozwiązania problemu, który powstaje przez różne rozumienie kultury oraz przez fakt, że to, co jedni określają terminem kultury, inni nazywają antykulturą. Na podstawie analizy zaprezentowanego przekazu medialnego pokazany został fakt wykorzystywania środków społecznego przekazu do poszukiwa­nia prawdziwego oblicza kultury. Jeśli środki te mają pomagać człowiekowi w docieraniu do prawdy – omawiając aktualne dla ludzkiego życia kwestie – to w temacie kultury rzeczywiście podejmują się takiego zadania. W umieszczanych w mass mediach treściach dotyczących kultury pod­kreślany jest fakt obecnych w niej wartości, takich jak prawda, dobro i piękno. Wszystkie one pochodzą od Boga i do Niego prowadzą. One sprawiają, że człowiek nieustannie potrzebuje i poszukuje kultury. Dzięki nim może bowiem doświadczać integralnego rozwoju i coraz dokładniej rozumieć, na czym polega prawdziwe człowieczeństwo. Z kolei życie człowieka bez tych Bożych wartości, naznaczone fałszywym antropocentryzmem, zawsze wypeł­nione będzie działaniami, które określić można terminem „antykultura”. Na podstawie zaprezentowanych medialnych treści wskazana została zależność rozpoznawania prawdziwej kultury od przyjmowania za nią odpo­wiedzialności. Odpowiedzialność ta wyraża się w nieustannym podejmowa­niu trudu poszerzania horyzontów myślowych, angażowania się w różne dziedziny życia, tworzenia – przez prawdziwe powszechne braterstwo – róż­norodnych wspólnot. W ten sposób realizować się może właściwy rozwój nie tylko kultury, lecz także człowieka. Jest to również droga, na której dokonuje się skuteczna obrona przed wrogim religii laickim humanizmem
