Spurious Relationship of AR(P) Stable Sequences in Presence of Trends Breaks

This paper analyzes spurious regression phenomenon involving AR(p) stable processes with trend breaks. It shows that when those time series are used in ordinary least squares regression, the convenient t-ratios procedures wrongly indicate that the spurious relationship is present as the pair of independent stable series contains trend changes. The spurious relationship becomes stronger as the sample size approaches to infinite. As a result, spurious effects might occur more often than we previously believed as they can arise even between AR(p) stable series in present of trend breaks

An Approach on the Evaluation of LNG Tank Container Transportation Safety

As a clean energy source, liquefied natural gas (LNG) has been widely accepted all around the world. As away to transport LNG, tank container transportation is becoming more and more popular. However, how to carry outsafety management for the whole transportation process of tank container is a problem troubling the whole industry.Therefore, this paper proposes a model based on the Recurrent Neural Networks(RNN) to evaluate the safetyperformance. First, find the factors affecting the safety of LNG transport by sea and construct an index system. Next,design a questionnaire and get scores from supporting experts. Then, this paper utilize the trained RNN to judge the safetystatue of LNG tank transportation. Through the comparison of training results and the final score got from experts, theresult shows that the MAE is negligible and prove the effectiveness of the RNN. Finally, a case study was conducted.From the analysis of the training results, it is known that enterprise safety management plays an important role intransportation safety and a better safety management systemwill greatly reduce the probability of accidents and improvethe transportation safety

Political connection and business transformation in family firms:evidence from China

We investigate the impact of family ownership on core business transformation and the moderating role of political connections in this relation through a Probit model, conditional Logit model, and Heckman selection model with instrumental variable using data from Chinese listed companies covering 2001–2010. The results demonstrate that, compared with non-family firms, family firms are more likely to transform their core business, enter strongly correlative industries and non-regulated industries, and adopt a mergers and acquisitions (M&A) mode. Furthermore, compared with politically non-connected family firms, family firms with political connections are more likely to conduct business transformation and adopt M&A rather than an internal cultivation mode to realize transformation. In addition, political connections make family firms more likely to enter weakly correlative industries and increase their chances of entering government-regulated industries

Research on the vibration damping performance of hydro-pneumatic suspension of mine dump truck

The working environment of mine dump truck is relatively harsh, thus the suspension system with poor performance will directly affect driver's driving comfort and physical and mental health. An oil cylinder is one of the key components of the hydro-pneumatic suspension system, however, the high friction levels between cylinder and piston would lead to ‘friction locking’ phenomenon in the practical application. In order to improve the vibration damping performance of hydro-pneumatic suspension system and enhance the comfortability of whole vehicle, a 110 t mine dump truck was studied by theoretical and experimental method. The results of this study show that increasing the length of cylinder guide can effectively decrease the cylinder vibration transmission rate and improve the driving comfortability of vehicle
