Robot trajectory generation, simulation and execution for shotcrete automation

Shotcrete is a widely used civil and mining engineering method that consists of projecting concrete at high-speed using specialized equipment. Nowadays, the trajectory of the projection nozzle is still controlled by an operator (manually or by teleoperation). Automating this process has the potential to improve shotcrete efficiency, quality, and worker safety. This report details the work done within the RoboShot@FRC project, to automate the generation and execution of trajectories for robot-based application of shotcrete in the reinforcement of railway tunnels. The developed work focused on two main components: one that generates a set of poses based on an input mesh of the surface to be shotcreted (path generation program), and another one that simulates the shotcrete process. Extensive tests were done in a simulated environment, and some tests were also performed in real robots. Ensinar pelo Projecto O ensino e aprendizagem de Projecto de Arquitectura, contrariamente ao que a designação da disciplina deixaria supor, não é uma aplicação prática (o projecto) de uma teoria prévia (a arquitectura). It moves in a complex field that calls for implicit knowledge, personal experience, critical conscience, reflection- in-action, or operative synthesis, the Architectural Design Studio is a discipline of synthesis that resorts to social sciences, and as arts and humanities, or sciences and technologies, to build a transforming narrative argument. Albeit showing, a strong practical approach, its main goal is a theoretical construction of architecture. 2nd Reuse of Modernist Buildings Workshop: Coimbra Modern City today: from functional buildings to community spaces

After the 1st RMB Student Workshop 2017 in the region of Marl (Germany), the 2nd edition worked in Coimbra, a historical university city in the centre of Portugal. Airway and Respiratory Devices in the Prevention of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia

Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is the most common ICU-acquired infection among patients under mechanical ventilation (MV). It may occur in up to 50% of mechanically ventilated patients and is associated with an increased duration of MV, antibiotic consumption, increased morbidity, and mortality. VAP prevention is a multifaceted priority of the intensive care team. The use of specialized artificial airways and other devices can have an impact on the prevention of VAP. However, these devices can also have adverse effects, and aspects of their efficacy in the prevention of VAP are still a matter of debate.
