    Update review on five top clinical applications of human amniotic membrane in regenerative medicine

    Due to the increasing number of studies performed in the field of regenerative medicine during the last two decades, more analytic studies are still needed to clarify the future prospect of this area of science. The main aim of this research was to review the clinical applications of human Amniotic membrane in the field of regenerative medicine critically. Furthermore, in the light of increasing numbers of available products derived from amniotic membrane, we aimed look in depth to see whether regenerative medicine research strategies have a place in the clinical setting. More specifically, in the present study, we attempted to provide insight on developing the new indication for more research and in the next step, for market leaders companies to expand cost-effectiveness of new derived AM products. 20 companies or distributers have offered some commercial products in this field. Survey on more than 90 clinical trials in last five years showed dermatology (and more specific wound healing), orthopedic, and ophthalmology are heavily biased toward multibillion dollar industry. Moreover, urology and dentistry with fewer numbers of clinical data in comparison with the above-mentioned areas, currently are in the path of translation (especially dentistry). In addition, otolaryngology and oncology with the lowest number showed more potential of research thorough understanding the properties that will help guiding the use of AM-derived products in these two areas in future. More than 50% of clinical studies were done or are developing in USA, which have the biggest share in market products. Subsequently, China, Egypt, India, Iran, and Germany with the ongoing clinical trials in different phases may have more approved products in near future

    National Maternal Mortality Surveillance System in Iran

    "nFinding the root causes of maternal mortality plays a significant role in identifying the status of development in the society and in expressing the current situation of maternal health and the adoption of appropriate measures towards its improve­ment. With   the above in mind and for the purpose of fulfillment of objectives and national and international commitments, the National Maternal Mortality Surveillance System was designed in 2000 and implemented from 2001 through out the coun­try in Iran. Implementation of this program aimed at identifying the  factors contributing to maternal mortality during prena­tal, delivery and postnatal periods through discovering the process that each mother has followed until her death, identify­ing avoidable causes of death and designing interventions in order to solve problems and prevent occurring of simi­lar deaths

    Nationwide Report on the Findings of Integrated School Health Screening Program in Iran

    Background: Screening of students´ health problems could lead to timely prevention and control of many health disorders. This study aimed to determine the nationwide prevalence of common disorders through school health screening program in Iran Methods: This cross-sectional national screening program was conducted in 2007-2008 among first- and third-grade- students in primary schools, first- grade-students of middle and high schools of all provinces in Iran.Results: Data were obtained from 3,124,021 (81.9%) students reported from the whole country classified into 33 geographical zones. Of total students studied, 12.48% had weight abnormalities, 4.77% had visual disorders, 3.95 % had head lice, 2.24% had behavioral disorders, and 0.6% had hearing disorders. Among students studied, 0.4%, 0.7%, 0.4% and0.8% had endocrine, psychological, neurological and genitourinary disorders, respectively. In addition, 2.1%, 1.9%, 1.8%, 0.8%0.5%, 0.3% and 0.3% of students had ear, nose & pharynx disorder, anemia ,skin & hair , cardiac ,abdominal, vertebral and lung problems, respectively. In elementary schools;57.6% of first-grade- students with at least one disorder were managed in outpatient settings and 6% of them were hospitalized for more investigation. Among third- grade- students of elementary schools, these values corresponded to 13.2% and 1.1%, respectively. Among first grade students of middle and high schools, this prevalence was 58.5% and 44.6% and 1.2% and 0.3% of students were hospitalized for more investigation.Conclusion: This integrated school screening program revealed a considerably high prevalence of health disorders among school students. These results might help health policy makers to design future health promoting programs

    A New Silicon Drift Detector System for Kaonic Atom Measurements

    The kaonic deuterium measurement at J-PARC and DAΦNE will provide a piece of information still missing to the antikaon-nucleon interaction close to threshold, providing valuable information to answer one of the most fundamental problems in hadron physics today - to the yet unsolved puzzle of how the hadron mass is generated. For this a new X-ray detector system has been developed to measure the shift and width of the 2p → 1s transition of kaonic deuterium with a precision of 60 eV and 140 eV, respectively
