    Impact of marketing strategy on customer retention in handloom industry

    Marketing strategies and customer retentions occupy predominant place in marketing literatures. This research attempts to know the relationship between marketing strategies and customer retention in handloom industry. This study selected a nonprobability sampling technique i.e. convenience sampling to collect data from a sample size of 100 customers. The method of data collection is based upon questionnaire. Results revealed that all the items had alpha values more than 0.7 which assures the test reliability of items taken into this study. In this study, correlation is used to know the relationships between marketing strategies such as product, price, place & promotion and customer retention. It has been identified that correlation coefficient of product was 0. 795. There is strong positive relationship between people and customer satisfaction. It can also be recognized that this dimension has highest value of person correlation when compared with other variables. Correlation coefficient of Promotion was 0.577. There is strong positive relationship between product and customer retention. Correlation coefficient of price was 0.492. There is moderate positive relationship between above price and customer satisfaction. As well as, correlation coefficient of place was 0.369. There is moderate positive relationship between place and customer retention. Results of multiple linear regression analysis revealed that value of adjusted R square equals 0.728 explaining around 73% of variation. Marketing mix such as product, price, place and promotion explain around 73% of variation on customer retention

    Plastic pellets are considered as marine debris pollutants (Gregory, 1977). They can be defined as small granules or raw materials that will be melted and molded into plastic products that can be found stranded on the beaches all over the world. It has several shapes and colors. Their shapes are in the form of tablet, oblong, cylindrical, spherical and disk shape, whereas the color are white including clear and transparent, black, blue, yellow, purple, red, green, brown, grey and pink. Usually, plastic pellets (Fig. 1) can be found in the environment due to the spillage during shipping loading and unloading. Since, plastic pellets are made of plastic, which is primary synthetic organic polymer derived from petroleum. Therefore, when it is exposed to UV radiation in sunlight and water from the ocean, this polymer will break into smaller pieces. This process will take time to occur naturally

    Stress intensity factors for surface cracks in round bar under single and combined loadings

    This paper numerically discusses stress in-tensity factor (SIF) calculations for surface cracks in round bars subjected to single and combined loadings. Different crack aspect ratios, a/b, ranging from 0.0 to 1.2 and the relative crack depth, a/D, in the range of 0.1 to 0.6 are considered. Since the torsion loading is non-symmetrical, the whole finite element model has been constructed, and the loadings have been remotely applied to the model. The equivalent SIF, F∗EQ is then used to combine the individual SIF from the bending or tension with torsion loadings. Then, it is compared with the combined SIF, F∗FE obtained numerically using the finite element analysis under similar loadings. It is found that the equivalent SIF method successfully predicts the combined SIF, F∗EQ for Mode I when compared with F∗FE . However, some discrepancies between the results, determined from the two different approaches, occur when FIII is involved. Meanwhile, it is also noted that the F∗FE is higher than the F∗EQ due to the difference in crack face interactions and de-formations

    Unsteady magnetoconvective flow of bionanofluid with zero mass flux boundary condition

    Induced magnetic field stagnation point flow for unsteady two-dimensional laminar forced convection of water based nanofluid containing microorganisms along a vertical plate has been investigated. We have incorporated zero mass flux boundary condition to get physically realistic results. The boundary layer equations with three independent variables are transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations by using appropriate similarity transformations. The derived equations are then solved numerically by using Maple which use the fourth-fifth order Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg algorithm to solve the system of similarity differential equations. The effects of the governing parameters on the dimensionless velocity, induced magnetic field, temperature, nanoparticle volume fraction, density of motile microorganisms, skin friction coefficient, local Nusselt number and motile density of microorganisms transfer rate are illustrated graphically and tabular form. It is found that the controlling parameters strongly affect the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics. We compare our numerical results with published results for some limiting cases and found excellent agreement

    Finite element analysis of j-integral for surface cracks in round bars under combined mode i loading

    This paper numerically discusses the role of J-integral along the surface crack front in cylindrical bar under combined mode I loading. It is also verified the analytical model derived from the first part of this paper by comparing the results obtained numerically using ANSYS finite element program. It is found that the proposed model capable to predict the J-integral successfully along the crack front but not for the area away from the deepest crack depth. This is probably due to the fact that the problem of singularity

    Proteomic profiling of urine for the detection of colon cancer.

    BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer is the second most common cause of cancer related death in the developed world. To date, no blood or stool biomarkers with both high sensitivity and specificity for potentially curable early stage disease have been validated for clinical use. SELDI and MALDI profiling are being used increasingly to search for biomarkers in both blood and urine. Both techniques provide information predominantly on the low molecular weight proteome (<15 kDa). There have been several reports that colorectal cancer is associated with changes in the serum proteome that are detectable by SELDI and we hypothesised that proteomic changes would also be detectable in urine. RESULTS: We collected urine from 67 patients with colorectal cancer and 72 non-cancer control subjects, diluted to a constant protein concentration and generated MALDI and SELDI spectra. The intensities of 19 peaks differed significantly between cancer and non-cancer patients by both t-tests and after adjusting for confounders using multiple linear regressions. Logistic regression classifiers based on peak intensities identified colorectal cancer with up to 78% sensitivity at 87% specificity. We identified and independently quantified 3 of the discriminatory peaks using synthetic stable isotope peptides (an 1885 Da fragment of fibrinogen and hepcidin-20) or ELISA (beta2-microglobulin). CONCLUSION: Changes in the urine proteome may aid in the early detection of colorectal cancer

    Diffusion in an Expanding Plasma using AdS/CFT

    We consider the diffusion of a non-relativistic heavy quark of fixed mass M, in a one-dimensionally expanding and strongly coupled plasma using the AdS/CFT duality. The Green's function constructed around a static string embedded in a background with a moving horizon, is identified with the noise correlation function in a Langevin approach. The (electric) noise decorrelation is of order 1/T(\tau) while the velocity de-correlation is of order MD(\tau)/T(\tau). For MD>1, the diffusion regime is segregated and the energy loss is Langevin-like. The time dependent diffusion constant D(\tau) asymptotes its adiabatic limit 2/\pi\sqrt{\lambda} T(\tau) when \tau/\tau_0=(1/3\eta_0\tau_0)^3 where \eta_0 is the drag coefficient at the initial proper time \tau_0.Comment: 19 pages, 2 figures, minor corrections, version to appear in JHE

    Ovulation rate and early embryonic survival rate in female rabbits of a synthetic line and a local Algerian population

    [EN] A higher litter size at birth has been reported in female rabbits from a Synthetic line than in those of the Local Algerian population. The aim of this work was to analyse whether this difference in litter size was due to a higher ovulation rate and/or embryonic survival rate in Synthetic line than in Local Algerian population. In total, 24 multiparous female rabbits from Synthetic line and 23 from Local population were used in this experiment. Litter size at birth was recorded up to the first 3 parities. Litter size was 20% higher in Synthetic line than Local population. At their 4th gestation, the females were euthanized at 72 h post coitum. Synthetic line females had 50% more ova and embryos than those of Local population (+4.42 ova and +3.92 embryos, respectively). Synthetic line displayed a lower percentage of normal embryos and a larger number of unfertilized oocytes than Local population (–2.81% and +0.64 oocytes, respectively), but differences were not relevant. Synthetic line showed a lesser embryonic stage of development at 72 h post coitum, showing a higher percentage of early morulae (31.50 vs. 8.50%) and a lower percentage of compact morulae (51.45 vs. 78.65%) than Local population. No relevant difference was found for early embryonic survival rate between Synthetic line and Local population.     CLIL approach in encouraging self-efficacy amongst Malaysian gifted students for Arabic tasks accomplishment

    CLIL approach refers to Content and Language Integrated Learning. This paper discusses the self-efficacy of Malaysian Gifted Students (MGS) at GENIUS@Pintar Negara in understanding Arabic tasks in the classroom, for example, understanding the Arabic terms in the lesson of Haji. These terms are; a) dam tertib and takdir, b) dam tertib and ta’dil, c) dam takhyir and takdir, d) dam takhyir and ta’dil. Besides, by employing the CLIL, the MGS can improve themselves because the CLIL approach encourages their self-efficacy to completely deal with the language task. The present study employs; qualitative study by using an interview, verbal report, and observation. This method is an instrument to answer two research questions. a) How the individual of MGS adapts his/ her situation to understand the four Arabic terms of the dam in Haji after undergo the three principles stages of classroom task in CLIL? b) What is the best method to memorize the four Arabic terms of the dam in Haji? In this study, three participants took part in the pilot study, and seven participants took part in the actual study. The present study revealed that the MGS in the Pusat GENIUS@Pintar Negara prefer to be independent learners by using the internet to understand the four Arabic terms and memorize by using keywords related to the four Arabic terms in performing Haji
