    Bow-Tie Microstrip Antenna Design

    Get PDF
In this paper, the bow-tie microstrip antennas have been designed with two different angles of 40° and 80°. An investigaton on the effect of the angle to the return loss and radiation patterns had been carried out. The impedance matching network with the niicrostrip transmission line feeding was used in this study. Simulation and measurement results for the return loss and radiation patterns were presented

Effects of Solder Temperature on Pin Through-Hole during Wave Soldering: Thermal-Fluid Structure Interaction Analysis

    Get PDF
An efficient simulation technique was proposed to examine the thermal-fluid structure interaction in the effects of solder temperature on pin through-hole during wave soldering. This study investigated the capillary flow behavior as well as the displacement, temperature distribution, and von Mises stress of a pin passed through a solder material. A single pin throughhole connector mounted on a printed circuit board (PCB) was simulated using a 3D model solved by FLUENT. The ABAQUS solver was employed to analyze the pin structure at solder temperatures of 456.15 K (183∘C)

The Mediating Effect of Job Satisfaction on Employee Loyalty: A Case Study of a Developer Company in Malaysia

Employees’ loyalty is being described as the ability of the employee or staff members of the organization to stay and contribute well in their jobs for such a long term. In the recent years, resignation of employees did show an increment in many companies in Malaysia. This research specifically study on a developer company which is one of the constructions developers company in Johor, Malaysia The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors of training, rewards and benefits and working condition as determinants toward employee loyalty and how job satisfaction mediate the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables as the factors that influence the employee loyalty in organizations. A stratified sampling method was adopted as the sampling method and questionnaires is chosen as the research instrument adopted previous researcher and adopt it into this research. Respondents of this research consists of 155 respondents who are employees of the developer company. In general, we conclude that employee loyalty in the developer company has positive relation between the working condition, rewards and benefits, training and job satisfaction and confirms the partial mediation of Job Satisfaction between the independent variables, rewards/benefits and training with employee loyalty.     Keywords: Employee Satisfaction, Employee Loyalty, Working Condition, Training, Malaysi

Effect of Spiral Split Ring Resonator (S-SRR)structure on Truncated Pyramidal Microwave Absorber Design

    Get PDF
This paper discusses on the effect of the spiral split ring resonator on the truncated pyramidal microwave absorber. Split ring resonator (SRR) structure can potentially be incorporated onto the truncated pyramidal microwave absorber to increase the reflection loss performance. There are many ways to increase the pyramidal microwave absorber performance. The ways are focusing the new hybrid shapes, using high carbon material, and adding the left handed material structure on the pyramid microwave absorber. Left handed material or metamaterial is an artificial material that does not exist in the real nature like FR4, Taconic, Rogers or RT Duriod. There are many types of left handed material that had been used by several researchers such as split ring resonator (SRR), and photonic band gap (PBG), electromagnetic band gap (EBG) and artificial magnetic conductor (AMC). In this research, spiral split ring resonator (S-SRR) is used to increase the microwave absorber performance. It has the potential to increase the reflection loss or 811 results of the microwave absorber at the several frequencies

Investigating Maturity State and Internal Properties of Fruits Using Non-destructive Techniques-a Review

    Get PDF
The evaluation of internal condition of the fruit via destructive techniques mostly damaged the internal and external fruit structure. However, there are several non-destructive techniques available could be applied in the agricultural industry, specifically for observing internal fruit conditions. Different kinds of internal conditions of fruits are evaluated in terms of their quality and ripeness levels. These non-destructive techniques include fruit evaluation via ultrasonic measurement techniques, light spectroscopy, imaging via Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and X-Ray, computer vision, electric nose and also vibration. The capabilities and the effectiveness of these techniques towards fruit monitoring are thoroughly discussed. Besides, the drawback of these non-destructive technique has been analysed

Strength Investigation of Thick Welded T-Joint using Finite Element Modelling

    Get PDF
The paper discusses the computation of finite element modelling (FEM) of a thick welded joint as a high load transfer joint. The FEM utilises MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN software programs to predict and simulate the critical area of a welded joint. The elasticity limit for the specimen was determined and stress distribution was achieved in the joint to indicate critical parts of a welded T-joint and predict the critical locations for crack initiation in this kind of joint. Simulation and experimental results show good in agreement and the sources of some differences in these results are discussed.Defence Science Journal, 2010, 60(1), pp.112-118, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.60.11

Factors Towards Voluntary Turnover Among Employees in Malaysia Banking Institution

    Get PDF
Voluntary Turnover refers to the decision of an employee to leave their organization based on their own intention and self-control. Thus this condition may give negative affects to one organization in terms of monetary, productivity and time deficit. The paper aimed to explore the relationship between factors namely job satisfaction, career adaptability, turnover intention and pay towards voluntary turnover in the banking sector. Self-administered questionnaire is distributed conveniently among respondents from several departments known as Human Resources, Marketing, Retail Rehabilitation, Branch Operation Processing, Treasury and Investigation Audit. The study uses SPSS (Scientific Package for Social Sciences) to specified frequencies distribution, reliability analysis, correlation coefficient (Pearson’s) and regression analysis. The analysis proved that there is a significant relationship between voluntary turnover and three independent variables (turnover intention, job satisfaction and pay). The result revealed that the turnover intention is the most influence factor toward voluntary turnover.     Keywords: Voluntary Turnover; Job Satisfaction; Career Adaptability; Turnover Intention; Pa

Effect of piezoelectric fan mode shape on the heat transfer characteristics

    Get PDF
Piezoelectric fans with their low noise and power consumption, are an effective means of enhancing heat transfer and is a viable alternative to the natural convection process. Several studies have been extensively carried out at the fundamental resonance mode. In this work, three-dimensional numerical studies on the effect of first, second and third mode shapes driven at frequency and the tip amplitude of the first mode are accomplished to investigate their effects on the heat transfer characteristics. The experimental and numerical model of the first mode shows a reasonably good agreement between them. The results showed that the increase in the mode number decreased the induced air flow velocity on the top of the heated surface, thus impeding the cooling capabilities at higher mode number. The vibrating blade of the first mode produced a pair of asymmetric vortex of opposite circulation around front and the back the piezofan tip, which disappear with the increase of mode number. It is thus established from this work that higher mode of vibrations is ineffective and therefore the fundamental resonance mode is suggested for all practical piezofan applications
