Ni idiotas ni energúmenos, pero sí hipócritas : falsos primos y contrapréstamos en griego moderno

Heredero de una larga tradición que forma parte de nuestra cultura, el griego moderno presenta una serie de peculiaridades que derivan del uso que las lenguas occidentales hicieron del griego clásico y que ha dado como resultado la existencia de un amplio vocabulario de origen griego en todas ellas. Sin embargo, conocer dicho vocabulario no supone una ayuda para un alumno de griego moderno. Bien al contrario, se trata más bien del fenómeno conocido como falsos amigos, puesto que estos términos creados en Occidente entran en contradicción con su significado en griego moderno. Al mismo tiempo, algunos de estos términos han regresado al griego como préstamos del inglés o del francés, es decir, se han convertido en contrapréstamos. El presente artículo analiza y plantea la incidencia de estas falsas amistades en el aprendizaje del griego moderno.Present-day expression of a long tradition, modern Greek stands apart from other European languages by the fact that western culture used classical Greek to create many words which today belong to our linguistic and cultural tradition. Nevertheless, to know these words does not imply to know Greek, because these western neologisms do not really match present-day Greek meanings. That is why we can identify them as false friends. Some of these western creations did even return to Greek as borrowings from French or English, so becoming back-borrowings, whose meaning either differs from the original one which modern Greek retains or has no sense at all. A small place, by Jamaica Kincaid: envisioning literary tourism in Antigua

This work departs from a reading of the novelistic essay A small place (1988), by Jamaica Kincaid, to analyse the representation of the tourism industry and of tourists in Antigua (the author's birthplace). From there, we present Kincaid's text as ?tourist literature? (Hendrix, 2014), also aiming to contribute to the examination of tourism-centred literary texts. Within the context of literature and tourism studies as well as comparative studies, this paper examines Kincaid's literary text in order to consider the promotion of literary tourism in Antigua. This example is then considered in light of recent contributions from literary tourism, space production, community-based tourism, mass tourism as well as responsible and sustainable tourism. Literary heritage as a resource for the tourism industry could bring tourists and locals closer and conspire to break down barriers between the largely dark-skinned hosts and the white tourists in Antigua

Long-term results between interval surgery and follow-up after percutaneous cholecystostomy: a retrospective cohort study

Introduction: Although cholecystectomy is the treatment of choice for acute cholecystitis (AC), in patients with high surgical risk percutaneous cholecystostomy (PC) is chosen in some cases. The aim of this report is to follow up these patients and evaluate biliary recurrences after PC. Methods: A descriptive retrospective study was carried out in a third level hospital from August 2005 to December 2014. All patients diagnosed with acute lithiasis cholecystitis who were indicated as initial treatment with antibiotic therapy and PC echo-guided were included. Patients requiring emergent cholecystectomy during hospital and those who died during the AC episode were excluded. After hospital discharge, the patients were divided into two groups group 1 (interval cholecystectomy) and group 2 (no surgery). Results: From the 86 healed patients, there were 8 losses in the follow-up, so 78 patients were analyzed group 1 (n = 12) and group 2 (n = 66

Regionalization of fish production in Mexico based on production value data in MXN pesos.

Objective: Generate a fishing regionalization activity in Mexico based on the economic criteria due to thevalue of fishery production.Design/Methodology/Approach: Socioeconomic data was taken as well as analyzed from the StatisticalYearbook of Aquaculture and Fisheries of fisheries in Mexico. Subsequently, the findings were organizedin a database with geospatial referent reclassified into nominal or ordinal qualitative statistical values. Thereclassification process was done through the use of a Geographic Information System, specifically withArcview 3.2 software, which allowed the generation of geostatistical analysis procedures through the use ofthe Kriging tool.Results: The results are displayed in a visually referenced database shown on a map constructed by datavectorization. The regionalization map of fisheries in Mexico is based on economic criteria of production valueclassified in four zones with different fishing priority.Limitations/implications: The lack of studies and social, economic and productive indexes of the Mexicanfishery is a limitation in the work of regionalization of fishing activity.Findings/conclusions: The efficiency of the use of Kriging as a multispecific analysis tool can be proven.The proposed regionalization is based solely on the monetary value, an item that has a greater weight inthe decisions made by the institutions, due to its importance in terms of Mexico’s Gross Domestic Product.These criteria together with the use of computational tools allowed the geolocalized regional categorizationof zones with similar characteristics classified into four fishing regions according to their degree of economicimportance: low, medium, high and main

Health status and productivity of sheep fed coffee pulp during fattening

The objective of this study was to evaluate the productivity and health of fattening lambs fed different levels of coffee pulp in their diets. Thirty-five crossbred lambs with an average weight of 21.8 kg were fed isoproteic and isoenergetic diets with different percentages of coffee pulp (T0: control; T1: 7%; T2: 14%, T3: 21% and T4: 28%), the base diet was formulated with corn, soybean meal, alfalfa stubble, molasses, urea and mineral salt. The fattening period was 98 days. Productivity was measured by weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion. At the beginning and end of the study, blood samples were taken to determine the health status using a biochemical profile and blood count. Analysis of variance was performed using the initial weight as the covariate for the productive variables and the initial values of the analytes in the blood chemistry and hematological analysis tests. The coffee pulp did not affect productivity, although the amount of neutrophils decreased (P<0.05) as the coffee pulp in the diet increased. In all treatments, urea exceeded the reference values, whereas creatinine was below the reference values. We concluded that the inclusion of up to 28% coffee pulp in the diet did not affect the productive parameters, decreases the neutrophil count without affect health status of lambs during fattening

2030 agenda and its considerations in the framework of artisanal fishing cooperatives in Mexico

Objective: Analyze the objectives proposed by the UN, linking them in a theoretical and practical way with the real situation of artisanal fishing cooperativism in Mexico, opposing the theoretical scope of the 2030 Agenda vs. the real praxis of artisanal fishing communities. Design/methodology/approach: Through the application of a Participatory Rapid Assessment Workshop, the points of the 2030 Agenda were discussed with three artisanal fishing communities in Mexico. The participants got to know in a theoretical way the objectives presented by the UN, they selected those that, in their opinion, are an important and punctual part of their fishing activity, to later analyze these objectives and compare them with their practical reality.   Results: Conclusions, proposals and points were obtained by the social subjects recognizing as a general argument that for the Mexican artisanal fishing cooperativism the objectives of the 2030 Agenda are possible as long as the action strategy promotes a cooperative culture with community values ??and social bond, respect for their environment and way of life, as well as the sustainability of the sea as an object of work. Limitations of the study/implications: The main implication was the enormous importance that exists in bringing the theoretical considerations of international organizations and decision makers to the social base where these proposals operate. , since these spaces create discussions that allow the necessary theoretical-practical analysis in the social sciences. Finding/conclusions: The neoliberal global economic system is the main disagreement of the 2030 Agenda. The Agenda encourages developed countries to support underdeveloped countries with knowledge, technology and investments to achieve sustainability, but it does not recognize local knowledge, uses and customs of developing countries as an effective alternative.Objective: To analyze the objectives proposed by the UN, linking them in a theoretical and practical way with the real condition of artisanal fishing cooperatives in Mexico, contrasting the theoretical scope of the 2030 Agenda vs. the real praxis of the communities of artisanal fishermen. Results: Conclusions and clarifications were obtained from the social subjects in which it was recognized as a general argument that for the Mexican artisanal fishing cooperatives framework the objectives of the 2030 Agenda are possible as long as the action strategy promotes a cooperative culture with community values and social bonds; respect for their environment and way of life; as well as the sustainability of the ocean as their means of work. Limitations / Implications of the study: the main implication noticed was the enormous importance that exists towards delivering theoretical considerations from international organizations and decision makers, to the social base who operates these proposals. These spaces create discussions that allow the theoretical analysis of practical needs which is mandatory in the social sciences. Findings / Conclusions: The neoliberal globalized economic system is the main disagreement for the 2030 Agenda. The 2030 Agenda encourages developed countries to support under-developed countries with knowledge, technology and investments to achieve sustainability. However, the Agenda does not recognize local knowledge, use forms and customs in those developing countries, as effective operational alternatives

Síntesis de ADN durante el crecimiento compensatorio renal temprano, en ratones adultos

El término nefrectomía (Nx) refiere a la extracción quirúrgica de uno de los riñones. Posterior a esta, por medio de diferentes mecanismos dependientes del sexo y de la zona analizada, el riñón contra- lateral sufre un aumento en su tamaño intentando compensar funcionalmente dicha falencia, lo que se conoce macroscópicamente como nefromegalia compensadora. En trabajos previos, analizando el componente proliferativo del crecimiento compensatorio renal (CCR) en ratones adultos, hemos observado que a las 26 horas post- Nx, los valores de actividad mitótica de las células de los túbulos contorneados y rectos aumentan con respecto a los controles y a los a los de las 10 horas post cirugía.Facultad de Ciencias Médica
