    Get PDF
This paper presents the performances of circular polarization (CP) array textile antenna in different bending condition. The antenna composed four circular patches in array formation where the patches composes a cross slot at the centre of the patch. In flat condition, a good bandwidth (2.06 GHz – 2.49 GHz), axial ratio (2.38 GHz – 2.62 GHz) with realized gain of 3.09 dB is presented and compared with other bending condition to suits with application of rectenna for energy harvesting system and antenna for monitoring system

The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in physical fitness for gender in the wetland area of Negara Hulu Sungai Selatan District. The method used in this study is the pre-experimental method. The purpose of the pre-experiment is to obtain information that is an approximation of the information that can be obtained by the actual experiment in circumstances where it is not possible to control and manipulate all the relevant variables. The design in this study uses The One Group Pretest-Posttest design, which means that a group of subjects is subjected to treatment for a certain period of time, while measurements are made before and after treatment is given and the effect of treatment is measured from the difference between the initial measurement (O1) and the final measurement (O2). The population in this study were women in the wetlands of Negara District, while the sample size was 35 people. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in physical fitness in women in the wetlands of Negara Hulu Sungai Selatan District. The benefits of physical fitness are currently very well recognized by the community, as evidenced by the development of fitness centers and sports activities that are widely held, all of which stem from the pursuit of physical fitness

Protective effect of tadalafil in diabetic nephropathy induced rat model

    Get PDF
Background: Among various mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy (DN), abnormalities in renal nitric oxide (NO) generation has attracted a lot of attention. Tadalafil, a competitive inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 commonly used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction was suggested to play a potential prophylactic role for DN. However, this role has not been fully elucidated. The present study was designed to explore the potential beneficial effect of low- dose tadalafil on the progression of diabetic nephropathy in streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rat model. Methods: After injection of STZ and verifying establishment of diabetes, rats were divided into 4 groups: control, diabetic-control, tadalafil-treated non-diabetic, and tadalafil-treated diabetic groups. Biochemical and hemodynamic parameters affecting the renal function such as blood glucose level, serum level of urea and creatinine, renal blood flow, urine volume, urinary albumin excretion, Na+ and K+ excretion, renal level of nitrite and nitrate, plus renal tissues antioxidant parameters (total antioxidant capacity, superoxide dismutase activity and glutathione content) were detected 8 weeks after administration of tadalafil. Histopathological and electron microscopy examination were performed. Results: Our results demonstrated that tadalafil attenuated the glycemic, renal biochemical, microscopic and ultramicroscopic changes/injuries caused by STZ- induced diabetes. Tadalafil could effectively increase renal blood flow and ameliorate glomerular basement membrane thickening. Conclusions: From the results it can be concluded that tadalafil protects rats against streptozotocin-induced DN possibly, in part, through its effect on renal nitric oxide level and its antioxidant activity

Improving Flexural Behavior of Textile Reinforced Concrete One Way Slab by Removing Weft Yarns with Different Percentages

    Get PDF
Textile reinforced concrete that developed at recent years is composed of the continuous textile fabric incorporated into the cementitious matrix. The geometry of the textile reinforcements has a great influence on the TRC overall behavior since it affects the bond efficiency perfectly. The effect of weft yarns removing on the flexural behavior of (1500 × 500 × 50) mm one way slabs was investigated, eight layers of the carbon fabric were used with (50%, 67% and 75%) removing of weft yarns in addition to one specimen without removing. The four one- way slabs were casted by hand lay-up method, cured for (28) days and tested in flexure using four points method. The bending capacity and the bond efficiency factor were calculated according to the conditions of the equilibrium models by comparing with experimental results. The results revealed that with higher removing proportion there was a perfect improvement in the flexural capacity, higher first crack load, eminent post cracking stiffness, higher average concrete strain and lower ultimate mid span deflection and higher toughness and ductility. Furthermore, the results clarified that there is an optimum percent of weft yarns removing at which the damage occurrence around the weft yarns is significantly reduced, and this negative effect constriction overcome the positive anchoring effect

RHODOMYRTUS TOMENTOSA: A PHYTOCHEMICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL REVIEW

Rhodomyrtus tomentosa is a common wood, prevalent in areas with undemanding soil conditions and resistant toward pests and diseases. The plant can be found in China, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Literature and artwork indicate that R. tomentosa played an important holistic role in the daily lives of several ancient cultures, providing medicinal benefits. R. tomentosa exhibits a wide spectrum of pharmacological effects and has been used to treat colic diarrhea, wounds, heartburn, abscesses, gynecopathy, and as a pain killer. R. tomentosa was used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat urinary tract infection. 42 compounds have been isolated from this plant and structurally elucidated. They comprise phloroglucinol, flavonoid, terpenoid, anthracene glycoside, tannin, and other compounds. Rhodomyrtone, a member of the acylphloroglucinols demonstrated a significant activity against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria. Rhodomyrtone exhibited both antimicrobial and anti-infective activities. Several biological activities have been documented as antibacterial, antifungal, antimalarial, osteogenic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory. R. tomentosa has been studied extensively for alternative antimicrobial agents. Although rhodomyrtone exhibited potential activity with a very low minimum inhibitory concentration value, the mechanisms of action of this compound are still unclear. Furthermore, toxicity studies on it extract to validate pharmacological activities are required. Keywords: Rhodomyrtus tomentosa, Kemunting, Phytochemical, Pharmacological, Biological activities, Chemical constituents

Modeling and simulation of thermoelectric generator (TEG) performance parameters evaluation

    Get PDF
Nowadays, thermoelectric module is widely used for industrial application to produce electricity energy from wasted heat energy. This paper discusses thermoelectric generator (TEG) modeling and simulation to attain improvement. There are several methods to model the thermoelectric generator: finite element method (FEM) model, circuit equivalent model and mathematical/computer model. In order to perform FEM modeling analysis, any engineer should acquire high level of knowledge in material engineering. Circuit equivalent model is using electrical circuit analogy to describe heat transfer and electrical behavior in TEG. In this work, mathematical derivation from circuit equivalent model is used in computer model by using Simulink (Matlab). The result from computer model is an alternative model for electrical or electronics engineers to study and doing future improvements on TEG performance
