Object-Based Greenhouse Classification from GeoEye-1 and WorldView-2 Stereo Imagery

Remote sensing technologies have been commonly used to perform greenhouse detection and mapping. In this research, stereo pairs acquired by very high-resolution optical satellites GeoEye-1 (GE1) and WorldView-2 (WV2) have been utilized to carry out the land cover classification of an agricultural area through an object-based image analysis approach, paying special attention to greenhouses extraction. The main novelty of this work lies in the joint use of single-source stereo-photogrammetrically derived heights and multispectral information from both panchromatic and pan-sharpened orthoimages. The main features tested in this research can be grouped into different categories, such as basic spectral information, elevation data (normalized digital surface model; nDSM), band indexes and ratios, texture and shape geometry. Furthermore, spectral information was based on both single orthoimages and multiangle orthoimages. The overall accuracy attained by applying nearest neighbor and support vector machine classifiers to the four multispectral bands of GE1 were very similar to those computed from WV2, for either four or eight multispectral bands. Height data, in the form of nDSM, were the most important feature for greenhouse classification. The best overall accuracy values were close to 90%, and they were not improved by using multiangle orthoimages

Hinge parties in Mexico and the Use of Social Networks and Media Technologies: A comparison between Partido Verde Ecologista, Partido Nueva Alianza and Partido Movimiento Ciudadano

Since the beginning of the new century in México, the traditional party system was affected by a new model of actors: the hinge parties. They are small political parties: Partido Verde Ecologista, Partido Nueva Alianza and Partido Movimiento Ciudadano, which have allied to traditional parties in electoral periods, even though they do not necessarily share ideological affinities. This strategy results have evolved positively for some of them, which have managed to overcome the electoral barrier and, consequently, maintain their official recognition as parties; some others had won federal, regional or local elections as a coalition. These hinge parties present an interesting paradox. They use intensively new media and social networks, and don´t have the traditional organizational model based on territories, instead they have virtual interaction and developed online tools in their internal and external communications. Nevertheless, they have a segmented, clientele and corporate type of electorate. They are also part of the political system, so they don´t present themselves as an alternative to the traditional parties. This paper aims to compare between these three parties; and how, when and who (inside) use these tools, how do their organization structures are affected by these? and how did the media and social networks influence on the electoral campaigns?Desde el comienzo del nuevo siglo en México, el sistema de partidos tradicional se vio afectado por una nuevo modelo de actores: las partes de bunion. Son pequeños partidos políticos: Partido Verde Ecologista, Partido Nueva Alianza y Partido Movimiento Ciudadano, que se han aliado a los partidos tradicionales en períodos electorales, a pesar de que no necesariamente comparten afinidades ideológicas. Esta estrategia los resultados han evolucionado positivamente para algunos de ellos, que han logrado superar el barrera y, en consecuencia, mantener su reconocimiento oficial como partes; algunos otros habrían ganado elecciones federales, regionales o locales como una coalición

Contribución al estudio de las apendicitis en colombia

En el ánimo de contribuír al estudio de las apendicitis en nuestropaís escribimos estas líneas y repetimos ahora lo que expresamos, hace algún tiempo, en el "Repertorio de Medicina y Cirugía": "Si todos, poco o mucho, reuniéramos los resultados de nuestras observaciones, haríamos obra muy presentable y, sobre todo, obra nacional". Esta contribución, llena de la mejor voluntad, es la resultante del deber en que estamos de trabajar. Ella no significa lo que es o pueda ser el estudio de la apendicitis en Colombia, ni es tampoco el análisis de elementos que tiendan a la busca o a la demostración de determinado hecho; solamente son datos, como si dijéramos, argollas dispersas de una cadena, pero eslabones utilizables si se unen a los de altos quilates y finamente labrados que pueden presentar los demás médicos del país

Characterisation of the fabrication process of freestanding SU-8 microstructures integrated in printing circuit board in microelectromechanical systems

The characterisation of the fabrication process to develop freestanding SU-8 structures integrated in printing circuit board in microelectromechanical systems (PCBMEMS) technology is presented. SU-8 microcantilevers, microbridges, microchannels and micromembranes have been fabricated following the described procedure. Adherence between FR4 substrate and SU-8 has been examined using the destructive blister method, evaluating the surface energy. Residual thermal stress has also been analysed for this integration and compared when using other substrates. Moreover, an estimation of the copper wet etching with cupric chloride has been performed in order to understand how this isotropic etching affects the geometry of the copper structures. Finally, stiction has been observed and examined, estimating the adhesion energy responsible for this effect

Constant rate thermal analysis for thermal stability studies of polymers

This paper explores the relationship between the shapes of temperature-time curves obtained from experimental data recorded by means of constant rate thermal analysis (CRTA) and the kinetic model followed by the thermal degradation reaction. A detailed shape analysis of CRTA curves has been performed as a function of the most common kinetic models. The analysis has been validated with simulated data, and with experimental data recorded from the thermal degradation of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), poly(1,4-butylene terephthalate) (PBT), polyethylene (PE) and poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). The resulting temperature-time profiles indicate that the studied polymers decompose through phase boundary, random scission, diffusion and nucleation mechanisms respectively. The results here presented demonstrate that the strong dependence of the temperature-time profile on the reaction mechanism would allow the real kinetic model obeyed by a reaction to be discerned from a single CRTA curve.Junta de Andalucía TEP-03002Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación MAT 2008-06619/MA
