This work seeks to understand how photojournalism takes place within the Instagram social network of a religious institution, based on the General Theory of the Imaginary, proposed by Gilbert Durand. The objective is to understand the symbolic movement promoted by the photographs published in the Vatican's account on the social network. We use Nelson Traquina and Wagner Silva e Souza's notions of news-value about affects. One-year publications were collected, from August 2020 to August 2021, totaling 143 publications. From this set, after using the exclusion criteria, an empirical body with 134 publications was defined. The analysis was based on the mapping of the symptoms in the images. It is concluded that the understanding of the news of this religious institution is directly related to belief, but the content is democratic and can be understood even without specific religious initiation

Concluímos que é possível avaliar todos os pacientes internados quando estabelecemos protocolos com condutas padronizadas, e identificar a gravidade do estado nutricional priorizando o atendimento de forma qualitativa baseado nos níveis assistenciaisWhen a patient is admitted it is important to define his nutritional diagnosis, since hospital stay may lead to worsening of nutritional status. There is evidence in the literature that patients with early and adequate nutritional intervention have improvement in clinical and nutritional results. This study had a cross-sectional design, with the aim of identifying the nutritional status of adult patients evaluated up to 72 hours after hospital admission, using an evaluation protocol to determine the level of nutritional care (NC). A total of 17,836 patients were evaluated, 59% clinical and 41% surgical. Of these, 32% were classified as NC 3 and NC 4 (higher nutritional impairment) and 68% as NC 1A, NC and NC 2. Weight and height data were recorded in 63% of medical records. In conclusion, it is possible to evaluate all hospitalized patients when there are protocols with standardized conducts, and to identify nutritional status severity by prioritizing care qualitatively based on care levels

Evidence that otoliths, mineral-rich limestone concrescences present in the inner ear of bone fishes, can accelerate bone formation in vivo has been previously reported. The goal of this work was the development, characterization, and evaluation of the cytocompatibility of otoliths-incorporated sodium alginate and gelatin scaffolds. Cynoscion acoupaderived otoliths were characterized by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (FRX), particle size, free lime, and weight loss by calcination. Furthermore, otoliths were incorporated into sodium alginate (ALG/OTL-s) or gelatin (GEL/OTL-s) scaffolds, previously developed by freeze-drying. Then, the scaffolds were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA/DTG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), infrared spectroscopy with Fourier transform (FTIR), swelling tests, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Cytotoxicity assays were run against J774.G8 macrophages and MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts. Data obtained from TGA/DTG, DSC, and FTIR analyses confirmed the interaction between otoliths and the polymeric scaffolds. SEM showed the homogeneous porous 3D structure rich in otolith micro-fragments in both scaffolds. Swelling of the GEL/OTL-s (63.54±3.0%) was greater than of ALG/OTL-s (13.36±9.9%) (p0.05) and significantly higher than that treated with Triton-X (p0.05). However, by 48 h, only ALG/OTL-s showed growth similar to control (p>0.05), whereas GEL/OTL showed a significantly lower growth index (p<0.05). In conclusion, the physicochemical profiles suggest proper interaction between the otoliths and the two developed polymeric 3D scaffolds. Moreover, both materials showed cytocompatibility with J774.G8 macrophages but the growth of MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts was higher when exposed to ALG/OTL-s. These data suggest that sodium alginate/otoliths scaffolds are potential biomaterials to be used in bone regeneration applications. We would like to thank the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and the Foundation for Research and Technological Innovation Support of the State of Sergipe for the financial support in this study. Get PDF

Epiphytes are hyper-diverse and one of the frequently undervalued life forms in plant surveys and biodiversity inventories. Epiphytes of the Atlantic Forest, one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world, have high endemism and radiated recently in the Pliocene. We aimed to (1) compile an extensive Atlantic Forest data set on vascular, non-vascular plants (including hemiepiphytes), and lichen epiphyte species occurrence and abundance; (2) describe the epiphyte distribution in the Atlantic Forest, in order to indicate future sampling efforts. Our work presents the first epiphyte data set with information on abundance and occurrence of epiphyte phorophyte species. All data compiled here come from three main sources provided by the authors: published sources (comprising peer-reviewed articles, books, and theses), unpublished data, and herbarium data. We compiled a data set composed of 2,095 species, from 89,270 holo/hemiepiphyte records, in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, recorded from 1824 to early 2018. Most of the records were from qualitative data (occurrence only, 88%), well distributed throughout the Atlantic Forest. For quantitative records, the most common sampling method was individual trees (71%), followed by plot sampling (19%), and transect sampling (10%). Angiosperms (81%) were the most frequently registered group, and Bromeliaceae and Orchidaceae were the families with the greatest number of records (27,272 and 21,945, respectively). Ferns and Lycophytes presented fewer records than Angiosperms, and Polypodiaceae were the most recorded family, and more concentrated in the Southern and Southeastern regions. Data on non-vascular plants and lichens were scarce, with a few disjunct records concentrated in the Northeastern region of the Atlantic Forest. For all non-vascular plant records, Lejeuneaceae, a family of liverworts, was the most recorded family. We hope that our effort to organize scattered epiphyte data help advance the knowledge of epiphyte ecology, as well as our understanding of macroecological and biogeographical patterns in the Atlantic Forest. Sustainable development indicators for the textile sector

    No full text
The textile sector, in its productive activities, causes impacts to the environmental health, and there is a lack of specific indicators to measure them, besides the importance of these indicators mentioned by Agenda 21, the Global Compact, ISO 14000 and the legislation. Due to this proposition, a construction of a sustainable development indicators list, based on participative basis, was developed covering the environmental, social and economic dimensions to help getting to know the textile sector situation, limited to the state of São Paulo. The method Delphi was used to build the indicators with the participation of 45 stakeholder representatives. The survey began with 30 indicators from Perform Sustainability Performance Benchmarking. After the pre-testing, and three round panels, 92 indicators were chosen (13 economic, 23 social and 56 environmental indicators). There was a meeting to validate the indicators with 15 stakeholders who approved 26 indicators (9 economic, 12 socials and 5 environmental indicators). The interest of sectors management to incorporate these indicators was identified through The Collective Subject Discourse methodology. The São Paulo Textile Industry Association managers see the sustainable development indicators as important elements for the sector, but only for future application. There is a possibility to implement a pilot project using these indicators in the region of Americana, and divulge to the sector through the Environmental Textile Chamber from Cetesb
