ABSTRACTGiven the heterogeneous theoretical universe orienting the construction of the concept of skills in the field of Administration, we noticed the lack of a unifying source of concepts and ways of implementation of organizational skills. The multiplicity, followed to terminological and conceptual confusion of organizational skills can lead to inadequacies also within its operation. It is precisely this gap that this article aims to start filling, in order to describe and discuss progress and challenges of the implementation of organizational skills concepts in Business Administration field, in the course of 15 years (1997-2012). The research in six databases, considering certain keywords, revealed 31 studies closely related to the interests of this article, surrounded on the following topics: Conceptualization and Organizational Skills Classification; Training and Development of Organizational Skills and Management Models based on Skills. Through the explanations presented in this work, we state that the central matters for the theoretical and empirical body cohesion of the thematic are the recognition of the influence of external variables and the need for alignment between business strategy and skills. Moreover, the alignment of resources, individual skills and collective skills is very important. We must consider that, to make sense, the skills require a holistic perspective that permeates the entire organization. In order to do so, a critical element is communication. The common understanding by the users on the significance of this management model and on its ability to improve current practices with reliable and valid benefits is fundamental. The main contribution of this work is to make an effort to go further in this understanding

Brief ACT protocol in at-risk adolescents with conduct disorder and impulsivity

The aim of this preliminary research is to explore the effect of a brief protocol based on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) applied to five adolescents (15-17 years old) with conduct disorder and impulsivity, who had received treatment for the last few years without positive results. Problematic behaviors were aggressive, impulsive, and oppositional reactions at school, home, and neighborhood (e.g., drugs or alcohol consumption, legal violations, oppositionist and defiant reactions, etc.). A brief ACT protocol was designed to functionally suit the presence of impulsivity and the absence of self-control repertory of these adolescents as well as the resistance to psychological treatment. The brief protocol was focused on four aspects: (a) to set a context between the therapist and the adolescents to promote the sense of personal responsibility, (b) to confront the adolescents with the effect of their behavior regulation (pros and cons) and the experience of creative hopelessness, (c) to clarify personally important valued directions, and (d) to promote defusion skills so that the adolescents could take charge of their private experiences and choose actions according to their values. Four 90-min, individual sessions were implemented over two weeks. Participants and teachersâ reports obtained before, during, and after the treatment implementation showed a high positive change. In addition, 1-year follow-up information showed an important change in a wide range of areas such as family, social relationships, school achievement, and occupational status. These results suggest that brief ACT protocols can have a great impact on at-risk population. Limitations were discussed

Neotropical Otters as Promoters of Environmental Awareness

Otter species can be used as flagship to promote the protection of aquatic environments in regions where they are known or regularly seen. In a previous study on the perceptions of local communities about the Neotropical otter (Lontra longicaudis) in Central-South São Paulo State, Brazil, we identified knowledge gaps and population groups with potential for conflict with the species. We also assessed the species local distribution and found that habitat quality was deteriorating, due to aquatic contamination by urban waste and antibiotics and destruction of the riparian vegetation. To tackle this situation, with financial support from the National Geographic Society, we designed and implemented an awareness campaign having the Neotropical otter as a flagship species (“Projeto Neolontra“). The project goals were to: i) raise awareness on aquatic species and habitats valuing the previews information given by the population; ii) prevent the intensification of human-otter conflicts; and, additionally, iii) complete the assessment of otter distribution in the region, building on local knowledge and field campaigns. For that we conducted 27 talks to 1337 attendees between August and October 2017 and produced awareness materials (posters, t-shirts, handouts), informally delivering science-based information to local populations. With this project we were able to link societal challenges, biodiversity conservation principles, and education actions, involving local partners and institutions, contributing to empower their role within the community and influencing decision makers on issues such as water use, riparian habitats preservation, urban waste effects, and medications disposal needs

In this paper the results of the maternal ancestry analyses of two individuals buried in the Chimpay archaeological site (Negro river valley) at the end of the 19th century are presented. This site is a double burial of an adult woman accompanied by varied and abundant funerary goods, and of a man wearing an Argentinian military uniform. In previous works based on the analysis of archaeological, bioarchaeological and ethnohistorical evidence, it was proposed as the main hypothesis that the context represents the burial of a Mapuche military leader. Nevertheless, the ancestry of these individuals has not been reliably confirmed so far. In order to test the main hypothesis, we present here the results of the analysis of the maternal ancestry of both individuals through the study of the HVR I sequence of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). As result we obtained the presence of the D1g subhaplogroup in the man and the B2 haplogroup in the woman. The first is highly frequent in archaeological and modern samples from northern Patagonia and the Chilean Araucanía, and the second in current Huiliches, Pehuenches, Tehuelches and Mapuches populations. These results allow us to confirm the Native American ancestry of both individuals and, therefore, to reinforce the idea that Chimpay represents a burial of a Mapuche military leader.
