    Get PDF
The article analyzes the municipal Bogotá administrations, that were really successful in the implementation of security policies and citizen coexistence, during the period 1995-2003; which have been taken as referents for the implementation of local programs in Latin America. Nevertheless, the results must be interpreted with more caution and less lightness, because this case is not a finished model but a process in construction. The article contains the indicators of reduction of the crime in Bogotá; a reflection on the developed policies of security during the mentioned period; and an interpretation of the past facts, that offers suggestions. Assessing Digital Competence of Future Teachers: Design and Validation of a Questionnaire Adapted to Italian at the University of Bologna

The article presents the validation of a questionnaire designed to assess the digital competences of future teachers at the University of Bologna, specifically targeting students in the Pedagogy, Primary Education, and Early Childhood Education programs at the Giovanni Maria Bertin Faculty. Given the increasing use of technology in various domains, measuring individuals' digital competences is crucial, especially for future educators. Thequestionnaire was based on Cabero-Almenara et al., (2020) "Cuestionario de Competencia Digital para Futuros Maestros" (CCDFM) and was adapted to Italian for this study. The validation process included cultural adaptation, expert review, and a pilot test. To ensure the reliability of the collected data, analysis techniques such as reliability analysis using Cronbach's α coefficient, assessment of sampling adequacy through KMO, and Bartlett's sphericity tests were applied. Additionally, factorial analysis and factorial rotation were used to examine the item structure in each dimension of the questionnaire, along with factorial load tests to assess the relationship of each item with its respective factor. In an era where technological integration in education is paramount, this validated instrument holds promise for enhancing teacher preparation and refining methodologies for assessing digital competences. The study's results underscore its significance for both education professionals and researchers, reaffirming its potential to contribute to the advancement of practices in teacher training and broader research on digital competence

Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin Mucoadhesive Delivery System for Helicobacter pylori Infection in a Mouse Model: Characterization, Pharmacokinetics, and Efficacy

    Get PDF
Helicobacter pylori is the main pathogen responsible for gastric ulcers and a predisposing factor of stomach cancer. Although current treatment is usually successful, it requires high doses and frequent administration. An innovative mucoadhesive system (Mucolast®) loaded with amoxicillin and clarithromycin is proposed to improve the efficacy of treatment against H. pylori. The drug product was optimized based on its viscoelastic properties to obtain long-term stability of the vehicle. The drug release mechanisms were different for both antibiotics based on their solubilization status. A systemic and stomach pharmacokinetic profile was obtained after three different doses were administered to mice, obtaining similar systemic exposure levels but an increase in drug concentration in the stomach. The efficacy results in mice infected with H. pylori also demonstrated the superiority of the antibiotics when administered in Mucolast®, as shown by the bacterial count in stomach tissue and under histopathological and biochemical evaluation. The proposed treatment was efficacious and safe and is presented as a realistic alternative to current treatment options to improve patient compliance and to reduce bacterial resistance.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación. Quality of Life and Autonomy in Patients with Intermittent Bladder Catheterization Trained by Specialized Nurses

Intermittent bladder catheterization (IBC) involves regular urine draining using a catheter, which is removed immediately after urinary elimination. It allows for the patient's urological health to be managed and their renal function to be preserved, and it promotes autonomy. Compliance with the prescribed number of daily catheterizations, which must be conducted by the patient, and infection prevention measures are crucial. To identify the patients requiring IBC, and to determine their adherence (whether they followed the prescribed guidelines and their difficulty in carrying out the procedure, as well as to assess how the IBC influences their quality of life and state of mind after receiving self-care training from a specialized nurse), we carried out a prospective, multicenter observational study in 24 Spanish hospitals with one month of monitoring and a sample of 99 patients. The sources of information were the patients' clinical records, the King's Health Questionnaire, the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), and the hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS). Descriptive and bivariate statistics were used to analyses the paired data. After recruitment (n = 99), 79 patients completed the questionnaire at a mean age of 35.2 years (SD = 20.5 years). In total, 53.5% (53) of the sample consisted of men and 32.3% (32) had neurological damage as the reason for prescription; 67% (67.7) performed self-catheterization and 86.7% adhered to the IBC. After one month of monitoring, a statistically significant improvement in quality of life was observed in all criteria, with the exception of personal relationships (p < 0.005), as well as an improvement in anxiety and depression levels (p < 0.001). Patients who require IBC show good adherence to the IBC with a significant percentage of self-catheterization. After one month of IBC, a significant improvement in the patients' quality of life and mood was observed. These results could be attributed to adequate patient training and adequate personalization of the IBC materials by the specialized nurses
