CDM Accelerating Cosmology as an Alternative to LCDM model
A new accelerating cosmology driven only by baryons plus cold dark matter
(CDM) is proposed in the framework of general relativity. In this model the
present accelerating stage of the Universe is powered by the negative pressure
describing the gravitationally-induced particle production of cold dark matter
particles. This kind of scenario has only one free parameter and the
differential equation governing the evolution of the scale factor is exactly
the same of the CDM model. For a spatially flat Universe, as predicted
by inflation (), it is found that the
effectively observed matter density parameter is ,
where is the constant parameter specifying the CDM particle creation
rate. The supernovae test based on the Union data (2008) requires so that as independently derived from weak
gravitational lensing, the large scale structure and other complementary
observations.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure
Growth, Yield, And Postharvest Quality In Eggplant Produced Under Different Foliar Fertilizer (spirulina Platensis) Treatments
This study evaluated the growth, yield, and postharvest quality of eggplant grown under different foliar fertilizer treatments with Spirufert® (Spirulina platensis). The treatments consisted of four fertilizer concentrations applied at four phenological stages: M1 (10, 15, 25, and 35 g L-1), M2 (15, 20, 30, and 40 g L-1), M3 (20, 25, 35, and 45 g L-1), and M4 (control plants, water spraying only). For Postharvest experiments were conducted in a 4 x 5 factorial design corresponding to the four treatments in the field experiment and five storage times. Spirufert® applied at lower concentrations (M1) resulted in greater fruit yield without affecting the foliar concentrations of N, P, K, and Na. Higher fertilizer concentrations (M3) increased vegetative growth but reduced eggplant yield. Fruit color parameters and soluble solids contents were not affected by fertilizer application, but pulp firmness was more stable in M1 fruits stored for up to six days.3763893390
Caracterización química del aceite de barú y su subproducto de la región noroeste de Minas Gerais, Brasil
This study investigated baru oil and partially defatted baru flour from the northwest region of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The physicochemical characterization of the oil was made by determining the fatty acid profile using gas chromatography, lutein, and α- and β- carotenes by means of high-performance liquid chromatography, and total carotenoids by spectrophotometry. The flour was analyzed for its chemical composition, fiber, and mineral contents. Baru oil presented excellent quality parameters and high contents in unsaturated fatty acids and carotenoids. The flour showed relevant levels of proteins, lipids, and dietary fiber, in addition to having representative mineral contents for food such as manganese, magnesium, and copper. Thus, baru oil and the by-product of its extraction offer a rich chemical composition, and their application may add nutritional value to foods in addition to reducing negative environmental impacts.

Reconstruction of field theory from excitation spectra of defects
We show how to reconstruct a field theory from the spectrum of bound states
on a topological defect. We apply our recipe to the case of kinks in 1+1
dimensions with one or two bound states. Our recipe successfully yields the
sine-Gordon and field theories when suitable bound state
spectra are assumed. The recipe can also be used to globally reconstruct the
inflaton potential of inflationary cosmology if the inflaton produces a
topological defect. We discuss how defects can provide ``smoking gun'' evidence
for a class of inflationary models.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures. Included proof (Appendix B) that wall

Influence of chlorhexidine and zinc oxide in calcium hydroxide pastes on pH changes in external root surface
The objective of this study was to assess the influence of chlorhexidine (liquid and gel) and zinc oxide in calcium hydroxide (CH) pastes on root pH in simulated external resorption. One hundred human anterior teeth with a single root canal were selected. After decoronation and root canal instrumentation, the specimens were divided into 4 experimental groups and 1 control group (without intracanal paste): CH + saline (CH+S), CH + 2% chlorhexidine liquid (CH+ CHX), CH + 2% chlorhexidine gel (CH+ CHXg), and CH + 2% chlorhexidine gel + zinc oxide (CH+ CHXg+ZnO). pH was measured using a microelectrode at 3 and 24 h, and 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks after inserting intracanal pastes. Data were analyzed statistically using an ANOVA and Tukey's test (p < 0.05). The CH+CHXg+ZnO group had the highest pH values throughout (p < 0.05). The CH+S and CH+ CHX groups had the highest pH values after 1 week and the CH+ CHXg group after 2 weeks. CH+ CHXg maintained the highest pH until the fourth week compared with CH+ CHX (p < 0.05). The control group remained at a neutral pH at all evaluated times. It can be concluded that chlorhexidine solution or gel maintained the alkaline pH of CH, and chlorhexidine gel allowed a slower decrease in pH over time. CH+ CHXg+ZnO showed the highest pH values and was an effective intracanal medication for maintaining alkaline root pH in the area of resorption3
Resolution of Overlapping Branes
We obtain singularity resolutions for various overlapping brane
configurations, including those of two heterotic 5-branes, type II 5-branes or
D4-branes. In these solutions, the ``harmonic'' function H for each brane
component depends only on the associated four-dimensional relative transverse
space. The resolution is achieved by replacing these transverse spaces with
Eguchi-Hanson or Taub-NUT spaces, both of which admit a normalisable self-dual
(or anti-self-dual) harmonic 2-form. Due to the manner in which the interaction
terms for the form fields modify their Bianchi identities or equations of
motion, these normalisable harmonic 2-forms provide regular sources for the
branes. We also obtain resolved 5-branes and D4-branes wrapped on S^1, which is
fibred over the transverse Eguchi-Hanson or Taub-NUT spaces. The T-duality
invariance of the NS-NS 5-brane is retained after the resolution. The resolved
5-branes and D4-branes provide regular supergravity duals of certain
supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories in five and four dimensions.Comment: Latex, 13 pages, typo corrected, references added, resolved D4-brane
