STRATEGY MANAGEMENT IN A MULTI-AGENT SYSTEM USING NEURAL NETWORKS FOR INDUCTIVE AND EXPERIENCE-BASED LEARNING
Intelligent agents and multi-agent systems prove to be a promising paradigm for solving problems in a distributed, cooperative way. Neural networks are a classical solution for ensuring the learning ability of agents. In this paper, we analyse a multi-agent system where agents use different training algorithms and different topologies for their neural networks, which they use to solve classification and regression problems provided by a user. Out of the three training algorithms under investigation, Backpropagation, Quickprop and Rprop, the first demonstrates inferior performance to the other two when considered in isolation. However, by optimizing the strategy of accepting or rejecting tasks, Backpropagation agents succeed in outperforming the other types of agents in terms of the total utility gained. This strategy is learned also with a neural network, by processing the results of past experiences. Therefore, we show a way in which agents can use neural network models for both external purposes and internal ones.agents, learning, neural networks, strategy management multi-agent system.
Adaptive multiagent system for seismic emergency management
Presently, most multiagent frameworks are typically programmed in Java. Since the JADE platform has been recently ported to .NET, we used it to create an adaptive multiagent system where the knowledge base of the agents is managed using the CLIPS language, also called from .NET. The multiagent system is applied to create seismic risk scenarios, simulations of emergency situations, in which different parties, modeled as adaptive agents, interact and cooperate.adaptive systems, risk management, seisms.
Design patterns for multi-agent simulations
The advent of mobile agent technology has brought along a few difficulties in designing a stable, efficient and scalable system for a certain problem. Agent-based simulations prove to be powerful tools for economic analyses. In this paper we aim at describing a set of design patterns which were specifically built for agents and multi-agent systems. The details of each design pattern discussed are presented and the possible applications and known issues are noted. In order to aid the software designers, we provide some examples of the basic implementation of these patterns using the JADE multi-agent framework.intelligent agent, multi-agent design, multi-agent simulation.

Large Eddy Simulation for high pressure flows: Model extension for compressible liquids
[EN] The present study gives a general outline for the fluid-dynamical calculation of flows at high pressure conditions. The main idea is to present a mathematical description of high pressure processes in liquids at compressible conditions, quantifying the effect of density variations on the flow pattern due to those pressure variations. The improved mathematical approach is coupled to a Large Eddy Simulation (LES) solver. The main code was developed by OpenSource Ltd. for OpenFOAM, and the authors have introduced the additional expressions in order to calculate particular variables. For validating the code improvement, the LES solver is applied to a modern common-rail nozzle injector used in diesel engines. Results have been compared against other calculations that assumed constant properties and simultaneously validated with experimental data. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd.This work has been funded by MINISTERIO DE CIENCIA E INNOVACION from Spain, in the framework of the project “ESTUDIO TEORICO EXPERIMENTAL DE LA INFLUENCIA DEL COMBUSTIBLE SOBRE LA CAVITACION Y EL DESARROLLO DEL CHORRO EVAPORATIVO”, Reference No. TRA2010-17564.

Study of liquid and vapor phase behavior on Diesel sprays for heavy duty engine nozzles
A lot of effort has been put in the past years into the understanding of the delivery and development of diesel sprays in engine-like conditions as it has been proved to be a very important step for the design of better and cleaner commercial engines. Due to the bigger share of passenger cars engines over heavy duty engines, the research has been mainly focused on the investigation using small nozzles. This paper studies two nozzles with diameters representative of those that can be encountered in heavy duty engines, with the objective of corroborating the conclusions gathered for small nozzles representative of passenger car engines. The experimental data have been acquired by state-of-the-art techniques and equipment, and serves two purposes: further the understanding of the physics involved in the injection event and spray evaporation; and provide a dataset to CFD models that can accurately predict the behavior of the injection event.
The tests were performed in a constant pressure flow vessel that allows to simulate engine-like conditions (1000 K and 15 Mpa) with continuous flow. The injection system tested is a novel, common-rail, solenoid-actuated injector for heavy duty applications which operates up to 220 Mpa. All experiments were performed in non-reacting conditions. The extended test matrix allowed to determine the influence of several parameters such as rail pressure, gas temperature, gas density, and nozzle geometry on the air-fuel mixing and evaporation process, by analyzing the spray penetration and spreading angle. Mie scattering and double-pass Schlieren optical configurations have been used to measure global liquid and vapor penetration, respectively.
The data proves that spray penetration at low temperature can be up to 15% faster than spray penetration at high temperature conditions at the same density for the nozzles experi-mented, which limits the usability of low temperature experiments to infer the behavior of the injector at high temperature conditions. The data also shows that the nozzle with the biggest diameter provided the highest value of stabilized liquid length as expected. Also, when vapor phase is reached, the temperature has negligible effect on the global diesel spray morphology, and no influence on the tip penetration or on the spreading angle. This work was sponsored by "Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad" in the frame of the project "Estudio de la interaction chorro-pared en condiciones realistas de motor (SPRAY WALL)" reference TRA2015-67679-c2-1-R. Psychometric Evaluation of the Happiness Scale of Lima in a Mexican Sample
Mexico among the happiest countries in the world despite their low scores
on virtually all elements that provide well-being, requires psychosocial
indicators that explain the happiness of Mexicans. The objective of this
study was to determine the psychometric properties of the lime happiness
scale (LHS) in a heterogeneous Mexican sample. The LHS considers
happiness as a multidimensional behavior with an important cultural
burden for the Latino population. Exploratory factorial analysis and
confirmatory factor analysis were performed using the structural equations
method. The studies were carried out with two heterogeneous samples
of 600 Mexicans each. The results obtained led to the identification
of a bifactorial model where positive affect correlates positively with

The main objective of this study was to analyze the technical information in academic networks on
vermiculture and the opportunities offered by its production for livestock agroecosystem
revitalization; therefore, data was collected from different repositories of universities in Latin
America and scientific journals to obtain enough information that allows us to continue studying it in depth. Many of the studies used in this work were from Escuela Superior Poiltécnica de Chimborazo, Escuela Superior Politécnica Agropecuaria de Manabi, Universidad Técnica Estatal de Quevedo, and Universidad Técnica de Babahoyo. Waste products (cattle, guinea pig, sheep, poultry, and swine manure) were used, obtaining the best results with cattle manure (12,500 young earthworms/m2 at 120 days and 14,028 young earthworms/m2 with the addition of actinomycetes). On the other hand, the quality of humus produced will be closely related to the food supplied to the animals from which
the manure is obtained. Cattle manure presents the best balance of nutrients. Besides, it has good
palatability, and it is easy to be assimilated by worms, obtaining the highest amount of humus
(60kg/m2). A positive cost/benefit ratio was attained with the substrates used in this study, but cattle
manure with six months maturity. Guinea pig and poultry manure showed the lowest positive values
because of the reduced humus content, which was reflected in costs. It is concluded that humus made
from cattle manure shows the best characteristics both in quantity and quality. Therefore, it is
recommended to use this substrate to produce humus, always considering the soil requirements
