A Model for Calculation of a Productivity Bonus

A productivity bonus represents a defrayal that some working places extents to their workers, in order to gratificate them due to the accomplishment of some productive goals or objectives. It depends upon any organization the establishment of some method to calculate this payment and to define on which variables the calculation would be based upon. The objective of this document concerns the raising of a mathematical model that could be deployed towards the computation of this quantity. A mathematical analysis is carried out on top of the basic structure of a given fixed set of an enterprise process performance metrics, or key performance indicators (KPIs). The model takes as inputs the goals and control limits (parameter values of the metrics that are commonly found on many organizations) (Duke, 2013), their value accomplishment result, and a free parameter. A typical real life example is exposed, as a case of study, where it is applied this calculation scheme; as the result, a productivity bonus was successfully calculated, so concluding that this result can be a useful device to carry out this task

Formulación matemática de ecuaciones de dimensionamiento de costura de tubería helicoidal

Se describe la formulación matemática y la aplicación en la industria metal mecánica de un conjunto de ecuaciones destinadas al cálculo de longitud de costura, ángulo de inclinación de costura, rotación y cantidad de lámina utilizada en el proceso de fabricación de tubería helicoidal (principales variables críticas de proceso); a partir de datos conocidos: diámetro, longitud de tubería, y ancho de lámina utilizada para su producción. La necesidad de estas ecuaciones surge debido a la premura de contar con información precisa sobre dichas variables críticas para el control de procesos y poder efectuar la predicción de sus valores ante cualquier modificación de parámetros. Se investigó en libros de matemáticas, en normas de fabricación aplicables y en la red; no se encontró la información requerida por lo que se procedió a llevar a cabo esta formulación

Alternative Representation for Binomials and Multinomies and Coefficient Calculation

Polynomials play an important role in many fields of mathematics as well as in other areas such as physics and engineering. Binomials and multinomies represent a special kind of polynomials, regarded as a wide frame of study by some mathematical branches such as discrete mathematics. Under this subject a novel method was recently developed that addresses the task of performing the calculation of binomial and multinomial coefficients, by means of the setting of an arrangement of sequences of summations. The document unfolded hereby aims to be an extension of that work. Through this document, firstly it will be deemed an equation resultant from that work, targeted at binomial calculations, and will be extended to the multinomial instance. Afterwards a theoretical case of study will be presented, to expose the application of this framework. And lastly an algorithm will be raised to set it up on a computer algebra system (CAS), and some practical examples will be bestowed

Performance and emissions of an agricultural diesel engine fuelled with different diesel and methyl ester blends

This paper shows the results of an investigation carried out to assess the application of different fuels produced by blending diesel fuel with methyl ester obtained from mixture of 75% (v/v) sunflower oil and 25% (v/v) used cooking oil on a Kubota agricultural indirect injection diesel engine, natural aspirated, and with a rated horsepower of 19.7 kW. Seven fuels, namely diesel fuel; 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 50:50, 25:75 and 0:100 (%v/v) blends were prepared and tested for the performance of the diesel engine in accordance with the standardised OECD test code 2. The test results showed that the performance of the engine was satisfactory without a significant reduction in power output and torque with blends smaller than 50%. Fuel consumptions with biodiesel were higher than that when fuelled with diesel but differences were not very marked up to 30% blends. As the reduction of the engine thermal efficiency was less than the corresponding reduction in heating value of the different biodiesel blends, the latter resulted in a more complete combustion in comparison with diesel fuel. The oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions were found to be reduced as the biodiesel concentration increase, particularly with 70% and 100% blends. The emissions of carbon monoxide (CO) were lower and increased at a lower rate with the oxygen concentration of the exhaust as the biodiesel blends were equal or higher than 50%

Applying energy performance-based design in early design stages: a methodological framework for integrating multiple BPS tools.

In current architectural practice some important changes are taking place because of the development of numerous Building Performance Simulations (BPS) tools to support design decisions during early phases of the design process. Many difficulties still persist, however, not necessarily due to the limitations of the available technology, but to the lack of appropriate methodologies to use the existing tools to improve the decision making process, particularly at the early design stages. Cuando percibimos cómo los adolescentes interaccionan con el grupo de iguales, quizás debamos pararnos a pensar sobre el ambiente familiar en donde se han educado. Cuáles han sido las condiciones que han estado influyendo en su desarrollo: la manera de interaccionar de sus padres y madres, el ambiente afectivo que se respira, los o el modelo educativo que se ha fomentado, etc. En definitiva, cuáles han sido las circunstancias que han podido influir, en la forma que ha adoptado el adolescente, para desenvolverse e interaccionar con el entorno que lo rodea, y por tanto, cuál ha podido ser la causa o causas que hayan ocasionado dicha evolución en ese sentido. Este artículo, pretende sumergirnos en el conocimiento de los factores que influyen y repercuten en la personalidad que los adolescentes van construyendo, intentado concienciar y buscar la reflexión de la relevancia de éstos (factores), de tal manera, que podamos detectar el grado de influencia que el grupo de iguales pueda tener sobre el o los adolescentes y cuáles son las posibles consecuencias ante estos hechos.When we perceive how teenagers interact with the group of equals, maybe we should stop and think about the familiar environment where they have been raised. Which have been the conditions that have influenced their development: the way their parents interact, the affective environment they live in, the educative model that has been promoted, etc. In short, which are the circumstances that may have influenced the way the teenager cope and interact with their environment and, therefore, what have been the reasons that may have caused their particular evolution. This article seeks to immerse us in the knowledge of the factors which influence and have effects on the personality that teenagers develop, trying to make us aware of and searching for the reflection on the importance of these factors, so that we can detect the rate of influence that the group of equals may have over the teenagers, and what may be the consequences.peerReviewe

Reflexiones sobre política de ciencia e innovación y sus problemas: el estudio de la inversión en I+D+I en los presupuestos generales del Estado

Así, se abordaron los que consideramos han de ser los elementos fundamentales en los que debe pivotar su transformación, y ello incidiendo en aspectos como la captación de talento en el ámbito del personal docente, investigador y de apoyo técnico, nuevas formas de vinculación jurídica del personal, redimensionamiento de los Campus y de las enseñanzas, sistemas de financiación alternativos, superación de fronteras en la enseñanza superior, etc. Debates que en ningún momento olvidaron la necesidad previa al dictado de una Ley, de generar experimentación y valoración, proponiendo adaptaciones, sugiriendo reestructuraciones y fomentando verdaderas políticas universitarias. Tomando en consideración, inevitablemente, que estamos condicionados por imperativos económicos, y que dependemos de obsoletas y rígidas formas de provisión de efectivos docentes e investigadores, bajo nuevas formas de interrelación y transmisión del conocimiento, más allá del aula presencial y el papel, con unos destinatarios de nuestros servicios más formados, exigentes, inmersos en un mundo globalizado, sin fronteras físicas, y con un reparto competencial en materia de educación, formación e investigación, que, en gran medida, no hace sino dar mayor complejidad a las propuestas y medidas a plantear.Peer reviewe
