The Vascular Flora of Roggman Boreal Slopes Preserve, Clayton County, Iowa

    Get PDF
Charles and Anna Roggman Boreal Slopes is a 20 acre (8.1 ha) Nature Conservancy preserve situated on the floodplain and adjacent northfacing slope of a tributary of Buck Creek in Clayton County, northeastern Iowa. My study of the preserve in 1981 revealed a vascular flora of 160 species representing 59 families. Three plant communities were recognized: ash-elm on the floodplain, maple-basswood on the slope, and an unusual boreal slope community in areas of the slope with cold air drainage. The last contains several species with boreal American or circumboreal distributions which have probably persisted since the Pleistocene. Eleven species protected by state and federal laws inhabit the preserve. The most significant is Aconitum noveboracense Gray, known from only 17 localities worldwide, listed as endangered in Iowa and as threatened in the United States

The Vascular Flora of Des Moines County, Iowa

Des Moines County is a 409 square mile (1060 km2) political subdivision located along the Mississippi River in southeastern Iowa. The vascular flora of the county was studied in the field and from herbarium specimens during 1975-80. The flora consists of 809 species, representing 109 families and 393 genera. This study adds 390 species to the previously known county flora, a 93% increase. Three species are added to the state flora: Chenopodium foggii H. A. Wahl, Holsosteum umbellatum L., and Lamium purpureum L. Nineteen species on the Iowa list of threatened and endangered vascular plants are reported from the county

A Checklist of the Aquatic and Wetland Vascular Plants of Iowa: I. Ferns, Fern Allies, and Dicotyledons

    Get PDF
This paper is an annotated checklist of the aquatic and wetland ferns, fern allies, and dicotyledons of Iowa and is based primarily on published floristic surveys. For each species, information about its habitat, distribution, synonomy, and frequency of occurrence is provided, plus a distribution map. A total of 9 ferns, 6 fern allies, and 262 dicotyledons are considered aquatic or wetland species in Iowa

Vascular Plant Taxa Originally Described From Iowa

    Get PDF
Forty-seven taxa of vascular plants were originally described in whole or in part on the basis of type specimens collected in Iowa. These taxa were described in various scientific journals and books between 1861 and 1966, largely by botanists affiliated with institutions outside the state. For each taxon, information is provided on the basionym, nomenclatural synonyms, place of publication, and type specimen(s). References to current taxonomic interpretation are provided for taxa not treated in the standard regional manuals. Brief biographic notes are provided for persons honored by eponyms

The Vascular Flora of Starr\u27s Cave State Preserve

Starr\u27s Cave State Preserve is a 140 acre tract of wooded bottomlands and limestone bluffs along Flint Creek in Des Moines County, southeastern Iowa. The vascular flora of the preserve was inventoried in 1975-79. This flora consists of 339 species in 79 families. Several rare species of southern and Ozarkian distribution occur here, including four species whose status in Iowa is threatened: blue ash (Fraxinus quadrangulata), winged monkey-flower (Mimulus alatus), winter grape (Vitis cinerea), and pagoda mint (Blephila ciliata). Twelve plant communities are found within the preserve, including 5 forest communities, 3 disturbance communities, 2 limestone exposure communities, a prairie opening community, and a streambank community. A quantitative comparison with the floras of 3 physiographically similar preserves in northern Iowa showed a 40-44% similarity among these northern preserves, and a 35-37% similarity between each of these and Starr\u27s Cave

A Checklist of the Aquatic and Wetland Vascular Plants of Iowa: II. Monocotyledons, Plus a Summary of the Geographic and Habitat Distribution of All Aquatic and Wetland Species in Iowa

    Get PDF
A total of 188 monocotyledons are considered aquatic or wetland species in Iowa. For each species, information is given on its synonymy, habitat, frequency of occurrence and distribution (including a distribution map). This information was obtained primarily from published floristic surveys. The geographic and habitat distributions of all aquatic and wetland species in Iowa are also discussed

A Checklist of the Vascular Flora of Lee County, Iowa

    Get PDF
The vascular flora of Lee County, Iowa, based upon field and herbarium study, is composed of 876 taxa (species plus hybrids), including 25 endangered and 5 threatened Iowa species. Naturalized species totaled 154. The study added 318 species to the county flora, a 57% increase to the flora of what had been called one of lowa\u27s best collected counties. Two species are reported as additions to the state flora: Habenaria lacera (Michx.) Lodd. and Vitis baileyana Munson. The flora is most notable for the presence of many species which do not occur much farther northward in Iowa, being plants with floristic affinity to the Ozark Plateau in Missouri

Горизонтальные классификаторы. Основы теории и расчета: моногр.

    Get PDF

Zgamma production and limits on anomalous ZZgamma and Zgammagamma couplings in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV

    Get PDF
We present a measurement of ppbar->Zgamma->ll+gamma (l = e, mu) production with a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.2 fb^{-1} collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppbar Collider. The results of the electron and muon channels are combined, and we measure the total production cross section and the differential cross section dsigma/dp_T^gamma, where p_T^gamma is the momentum of the photon in the plane transverse to the beamline. The results obtained are consistent with the standard model predictions from next-to-leading order calculations. We use the transverse momentum spectrum of the photon to place limits on anomalous ZZgamma and Zgammagamma couplings
