The aim of this work is the in vitro evaluation of the antibacterial activities of essential oils extracted from three aromatic and Moroccan plants: Thymus vulgaris, Mentha spicata and Citrus limonum, on four bacterial strains: Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aerations and Klebsiella pneumoniae. These strains have been chosen for their pathological impact due to their pathogen city in relation to problems of resistance to common antibiotics. The results obtained showed that for the strains of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aerations, the essential oil of Thymus vulgaris, showed the highest antibacterial activity, while for the strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumonia, the essential oil of Menthe spicata which proved to be the most active. Mentha Spicata irrigated by wastewater from the city of Settat (Morocco) was tested as corrosion inhibitor of aluminum in 0.1 M Na2CO3 using polarization method and weight loss measurements. The inhibition efficiency of mentha spicata oil was calculated and compared. We note good agreement between these methods. The results obtained showed that the tested inhibitor reduces the kinetic process of corrosion of aluminum.  Its efficiency increases with the concentration and attained 82 % at 1600 ppm. The effect of temperature on the corrosion behaviour of aluminum in 0.1 M Na2CO3 was also studied in the range 283 K and 313 K. The thermodynamic data of activation were determined. The analysis of mentha spicata oil obtained by hydro-distillation using gas chromatography (GC) showed that the major components are carvone 57.11 % and limonene 27.77%

Morocco is a traditional supplier of medicinal and aromatic plants to the world. This activity has resulted to the exploitation of wild plants than dried plants for herbal needs and food flavors. Many species are used for the production of plant extracts and other aromatic essences mainly for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. Among these metabolites, there are essential oils that are mixtures of aromatic substances present in the form of tiny droplets in the leaves, fruit peel, resin, branches, and wood. These oils, however, is endowed with antioxidant properties. This study aims to evaluate the antioxidant activity of essential oils of three moroccan aromatic and medicinal plants: Thymus vulgaris, Mentha spicata, and Citrus limonum. The oil extraction was performed by steam distillation in a Clevenger type apparatus. Also, the antioxidant activity of these oils was evaluated by the method of DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), in comparison with the antioxidant synthetic, ascorbic acid. In the present work, the results showed that the antioxidant activity of three essential oils studied by the trapping method of free radical is moderate. Also, the oil of Thymus vulgaris has a strong activity which exceeds that of ascorbic acid. This was followed by the oil of Mentha spicata, while the lowest activity was observed in Citrus limonum

Malaysia film posters from the perspective of Malay culture

The content of Malaysia films as well as the film posters itself reflects the “face” or culture of Malaysian peoples, especially the Malays. Content analysis was the main methodology been used in this study, which by analysing content portrayed in 12 movie posters that has been selected randomly from year 1955 until 2013. By using the Roland Barth’s semiotic theoretical approach, 12 Malay movie posters were chosen for the study purpose which are film posters for film Penarek Becha (1955), Siti Muslihat (1962), Cinta dan Lagu (1976), Panglima Badul (1978), Ali Setan (1985), Kekasih Awal dan Akhir (1993), Maria Mariana (1996), Perempuan Melayu Terakhir (1999), Spinning Gasing (2001), Puteri Gunung Ledang (2004), 1957: Hati Malaya (2007) and Tanda Putera (2013). The Malay cultural elements identified in the Malay movie posters are through the language in the poster, characters in posters, wardrobe and make-up of the characters, equipment’s, background locations and symbols in the poster. Thus, the main question here is what is the “Malay” that is being portrayed in the Malay film posters? and the Malay film poster actually describing “Malay face”?. These questions will only be answered by studying and reviewing the contents of Malay film posters as a cultural representation that reflects the Malay culture (our movie is our face). The awareness on the issue of the importance of providing a proper understanding of “our faces” in the display of the contents of Malay film posters is seen as purely pursuit of preserving Malay culture continues to grow and can be inherited from one generation to the next generation in the future

L’activité antifongique des huiles essentielles (HE) extraites de trois plantes aromatiques et médicinales: Mentha pulegium L., Eugenia aromatica L. et Cedrus atlantica (Manetti ex Endl.).a été testée in vitro sur deux champignons pathogènes des céréales : Fusarium culmorum ((Wm.G.Sm.) Sacc. 1892) et Bipolaris sorokiniana ((Sacc.) Shoemaker, 1959).

Part 2: Knowledge-Based ServicesInternational audienceThe operating theatre (OT) represents a significant component of the technical means centre. This facility is the largest cost and revenue centre. To be efficient, it needs an optimal operational pro- gramme, which takes into account maintenance activi- ties and not only surgical operations. To build such a programme, various methods have been used: mixed integer programming (MIP), three classic heuristics for Bin-Packing and a coupling of the first alterna- tive with a stochastic descent (SD). Then we compare the obtained results from generated data
