Experimental Research Using of MQL in Metal Cutting
In this paper an effect of using of minimal quantity lubrication (MQL) technique in turning operations is presented. Experimental research was performed on carbon steel C45E. Technological parameters: depth of cut, feed rate and cutting speed were adjusted to semi-machining and roughing. Higher values of feed and cutting speed were used, than recommended from literature and different types of cooling
and lubrication in turning conditions were applied. As a conventional procedure and technology, lubrication with flooding was applied. As special lubrication the MQL technique was used. During research, monitoring of the cutting force, chip shape, tool wear and surface roughness was performed. Relations between parameters, material machinability and economy of process were analyzed
The CAST Time Projection Chamber
One of the three X-ray detectors of the CAST experiment searching for solar
axions is a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) with a multi-wire proportional
counter (MWPC) as a readout structure. Its design has been optimized to provide
high sensitivity to the detection of the low intensity X-ray signal expected in
the CAST experiment. A low hardware threshold of 0.8 keV is safely set during
normal data taking periods, and the overall efficiency for the detection of
photons coming from conversion of solar axions is 62 %. Shielding has been
installed around the detector, lowering the background level to 4.10 x 10^-5
counts/cm^2/s/keV between 1 and 10 keV. During phase I of the CAST experiment
the TPC has provided robust and stable operation, thus contributing with a
competitive result to the overall CAST limit on axion-photon coupling and mass.Comment: 19 pages, 11 figures and images, submitted to New Journal of Physic
Physicochemical evaluation of Technetium-99m complexes with baclofen
The 99mTc-labeling of baclofen (Bac), a muscle relaxant, as well as
physicochemical properties of the labeled compounds are investigated. Two
different approaches for the labeling with 99mTc have been studied: direct reduction
with tin(II)chloride and the 'organometallic approach' using [99mTc(CO)3(H2O)3]
+
precursor. The direct labeling approach was not successful and the yield was poor.
The use of [99mTc(CO)3(H2O)3]+ precursor pointed at the formation of 99mTc(I)
coordinated complexes with high yield. In this approach, pH didn’t influence the
yields. Promising results of in vitro experiments suggest that 99mTc(I)-baclofen may

Preparation of 90Y-Labeled Tin Fluoride Colloid for Radiosynovectomy
In this study, tin fluoride colloid (SnF-c) was prepared, labeled with 90Y and characterized with respect to its physicochemical properties. Particle size of SnF-c, at constant concentration of SnF2, was dependent on pH, concentration of NaF, temperature and time. The particle size of SnF-c decreased with an increase in NaF concentration and a decrease in reaction mixture pH. Radiolabeling yield of 90Y-SnF-c at higher temperature increased and it was greater than 98% for the preparation at 95 oC. First results from the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST)
Hypothetical axion-like particles with a two-photon interaction would be
produced in the Sun by the Primakoff process. In a laboratory magnetic field
(``axion helioscope'') they would be transformed into X-rays with energies of a
few keV. Using a decommissioned LHC test magnet, CAST has been running for
about 6 months during 2003. The first results from the analysis of these data
are presented here. No signal above background was observed, implying an upper
limit to the axion-photon coupling < 1.16 10^{-10} GeV^-1 at 95% CL for m_a
<~0.02 eV. This limit is comparable to the limit from stellar energy-loss
arguments and considerably more restrictive than any previous experiment in

Search for solar axion emission from 7Li and D(p,gamma)3He nuclear decays with the CAST gamma-ray calorimeter
We present the results of a search for a high-energy axion emission signal
from 7Li (0.478 MeV) and D(p,gamma)3He (5.5 MeV) nuclear transitions using a
low-background gamma-ray calorimeter during Phase I of the CAST experiment.
These so-called "hadronic axions" could provide a solution to the long-standing
strong-CP problem and can be emitted from the solar core from nuclear M1
transitions. This is the first such search for high-energy pseudoscalar bosons
with couplings to nucleons conducted using a helioscope approach. No excess
signal above background was found.Comment: 20 pages, 8 figures, final version to be published in JCA
CAST constraints on the axion-electron coupling
In non-hadronic axion models, which have a tree-level axion-electron interaction, the Sun produces a strong axion flux by bremsstrahlung, Compton scattering, and axiorecombination, the "BCA processes." Based on a new calculation of this flux, including for the first time axio-recombination, we derive limits on the axion-electron Yukawa coupling gae and axion-photon interaction strength ga using the CAST phase-I data (vacuum phase). For ma <~ 10 meV/c2 we find ga gae < 8.1 × 10−23 GeV−1 at 95% CL. We stress that a next-generation axion helioscope such as the proposed IAXO could push this sensitivity into a range beyond stellar energy-loss limits and test the hypothesis that white-dwarf cooling is dominated by axion emission
Search for low Energy solar Axions with CAST
We have started the development of a detector system, sensitive to single
photons in the eV energy range, to be suitably coupled to one of the CAST
magnet ports. This system should open to CAST a window on possible detection of
low energy Axion Like Particles emitted by the sun. Preliminary tests have
involved a cooled photomultiplier tube coupled to the CAST magnet via a
Galileian telescope and a switched 40 m long optical fiber. This system has
reached the limit background level of the detector alone in ideal conditions,
and two solar tracking runs have been performed with it at CAST. Such a
measurement has never been done before with an axion helioscope. We will
present results from these runs and briefly discuss future detector

New solar axion search in CAST with He filling
The CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST) searches for conversion in
the 9 T magnetic field of a refurbished LHC test magnet that can be directed
toward the Sun. Two parallel magnet bores can be filled with helium of
adjustable pressure to match the X-ray refractive mass to the axion
search mass . After the vacuum phase (2003--2004), which is optimal for
eV, we used He in 2005--2007 to cover the mass range of
0.02--0.39 eV and He in 2009--2011 to scan from 0.39--1.17 eV. After
improving the detectors and shielding, we returned to He in 2012 to
investigate a narrow range around 0.2 eV ("candidate setting" of our
earlier search) and 0.39--0.42 eV, the upper axion mass range reachable with
He, to "cross the axion line" for the KSVZ model. We have improved the
limit on the axion-photon coupling to (95% C.L.), depending on the pressure settings. Since 2013, we
have returned to vacuum and aim for a significant increase in sensitivity.Comment: CAST Collaboration 6 pages 3 figure
Search for the exotic resonance in the NOMAD experiment
A search for exotic Theta baryon via Theta -> proton +Ks decay mode in the
NOMAD muon neutrino DIS data is reported. The special background generation
procedure was developed. The proton identification criteria are tuned to
maximize the sensitivity to the Theta signal as a function of xF which allows
to study the Theta production mechanism. We do not observe any evidence for the
Theta state in the NOMAD data. We provide an upper limit on Theta production
rate at 90% CL as 2.13 per 1000 of neutrino interactions.Comment: Accepted to European Physics Journal
