New approach of fragment charge correlations in 129Xe+(nat)Sn central collisions
A previous analysis of the charge (Z) correlations in the
plane for Xe+Sn central collisions at 32 MeV/u has shown an enhancement in the
production of equally sized fragments (low ) which was interpreted as
an evidence for spinodal decomposition. However the signal is weak and rises
the question of the estimation of the uncorrelated yield. After a critical
analysis of its robustness, we propose in this paper a new technique to build
the uncorrelated yield in the charge correlation function. The application of
this method to Xe+Sn central collision data at 32, 39, 45 and 50 MeV/u does not
show any particular enhancement of the correlation function in any
bin.Comment: 23 pages, 9 figures, revised version with an added figure and minor

Breakdown of the Z=8 shell closure in unbound 12O and its mirror symmetry
An excited state in the proton-rich unbound nucleus 12O was identified at 1.8(4) MeV via missing-mass spectroscopy with the 14O(p,t) reaction at 51ââAMeV. The spin-parity of the state was determined to be 0+ or 2+ by comparing the measured differential cross sections with distorted-wave calculations. The lowered location of the excited state in 12O indicates the breakdown of the major shell closure at Z=8 near the proton drip line. This demonstrates the persistence of mirror symmetry in the disappearance of the magic number 8 between 12O and its mirror partner 12Be
Investigation of the 6He cluster structures
The 4He+2n and t+t clustering of the 6He ground state were investigated by
means of the transfer reaction 6He(p,t)4He at 25 MeV/nucleon. The experiment
was performed in inverse kinematics at GANIL with the SPEG spectrometer coupled
to the MUST array. Experimental data for the transfer reaction were analyzed by
a DWBA calculation including the two neutrons and the triton transfer. The
couplings to the 6He --> 4He + 2n breakup channels were taken into account with
a polarization potential deduced from a coupled-discretized-continuum channels
analysis of the 6He+1H elastic scattering measured at the same time. The
influence on the calculations of the 4He+t exit potential and of the triton
sequential transfer is discussed. The final calculation gives a spectroscopic
factor close to one for the 4He+2n configuration as expected. The spectroscopic
factor obtained for the t+t configuration is much smaller than the theoretical
predictions.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figures, accepted in PR
Structure of unbound neutron-rich He studied using single-neutron transfer
The 8He(d,p) reaction was studied in inverse kinematics at 15.4A MeV using
the MUST2 Si-CsI array in order to shed light on the level structure of 9He.
The well known 16O(d,p)17O reaction, performed here in reverse kinematics, was
used as a test to validate the experimental methods. The 9He missing mass
spectrum was deduced from the kinetic energies and emission angles of the
recoiling protons. Several structures were observed above the neutron-emission
threshold and the angular distributions were used to deduce the multipolarity
of the transitions. This work confirms that the ground state of 9He is located
very close to the neutron threshold of 8He and supports the occurrence of
parity inversion in 9He.Comment: Exp\'erience GANIL/SPIRAL1/MUST
Long lifetime components in the decay of excited super-heavy nuclei
For nuclear reactions in which super-heavy nuclei can be formed, the essential difference between the fusion process followed by fission and non-equilibrium processes leading to fission-like fragments is there action time. Quite probable non-equilibrium
Dynamical effects in multifragmentation at intermediate energies
The fragmentation of the quasi-projectile is studied with the INDRA
multidetector for different colliding systems and incident energies in the
Fermi energy range. Different experimental observations show that a large part
of the fragmentation is not compatible with the statistical fragmentation of a
fully equilibrated nucleus. The study of internal correlations is a powerful
tool, especially to evidence entrance channel effects. These effects have to be
included in the theoretical descriptions of nuclear multifragmentation.Comment: 13 pages, 26 figures, submitted to Physical Review
Transition from participant to spectator fragmentation in Au+Au reaction between 60 AMeV and 150 AMeV
Using the quantum molecular dynamics approach, we analyze the results of the
recent INDRA Au+Au experiments at GSI in the energy range between 60 AMeV and
150 AMeV. It turns out that in this energy region the transition toward a
participant-spectator scenario takes place. The large Au+Au system displays in
the simulations as in the experiment simultaneously dynamical and statistical
behavior which we analyze in detail: The composition of fragments close to
midrapidity follows statistical laws and the system shows bi-modality, i.e. a
sudden transition between different fragmentation pattern as a function of the
centrality as expected for a phase transition. The fragment spectra at small
and large rapidities, on the other hand, are determined by dynamics and the
system as a whole does not come to equilibrium, an observation which is
confirmed by FOPI experiments for the same system.Comment: published versio
Pion radii in nonlocal chiral quark model
The electromagnetic radius of the charged pion and the transition radius of
the neutral pion are calculated in the framework of the nonlocal chiral quark
model. It is shown in this model that the contributions of vector mesons to the
pion radii are noticeably suppressed in comparison with a similar contribution
in the local Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. The form-factor for the process
gamma*pi+pi- is calculated for the -1 GeV^2<q^2<1.6 GeV^2. Our results are in
satisfactory agreement with experimental data.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figure
Collapse of the N=28 shell closure in Si
The energies of the excited states in very neutron-rich Si and
P have been measured using in-beam -ray spectroscopy from the
fragmentation of secondary beams of S at 39 A.MeV. The low 2
energy of Si, 770(19) keV, together with the level schemes of
P provide evidence for the disappearance of the Z=14 and N=28
spherical shell closures, which is ascribed mainly to the action of
proton-neutron tensor forces. New shell model calculations indicate that
Si is best described as a well deformed oblate rotor.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev. let
