    Practical Network Coding in Sensor Networks: Quo Vadis?

    Abstract. Network coding is a novel concept for improving network ca-pacity. This additional capacity may be used to increase throughput or reliability. Also in wireless networks, network coding has been proposed as a method for improving communication. We present our experience from two studies of applying network coding in realistic wireless sen-sor networks scenarios. As we show, network coding is not as useful in practical deployments as earlier theoretical work suggested. We discuss limitations and future opportunities for network coding in sensor net-works. 1 Network Coding in Wireless Sensor Networks Network Coding was introduced by Ahlswede et al. [1], proving that it can in-crease multicast capacity. Since then, it has been investigated in several different networked scenarios which demand different traffic characteristics.     Introduction: The field of diagnostic radiology continues to struggle with the clinical adoption of the structured interpretive report, with many radiologists preferring a semistructured, free-text dictation style to a more rigid, highly structured approach that some professional leaders have promoted [1]. Although structured reporting compliance in the radiologist community has been difficult to achieve, diagnostic radiologists have been thinking about and discussing this important issue for many years; it is also a part of the ACR’s Imaging 3.0_ campaign [2]. In the breast imaging community, the well-established BI-RADS_ recommendations produce a very structured report, with a discussion of interpretive findings culminating in a numeric BI-RADS score ranging from 0 to 6 [3]. Unlike some interpretive radiology reports, which can be ambiguous in terms of the next course of action, the BI-RADS scale is not only a diagnostic scale but also prescriptive of what the necessary follow-up should be

    Investigation of Cellulose Nitrate Motion Picture Film Chemical Decomposition & Associated Fire Risk

    This grant will support empirical research about the related threats of cellulose nitrate motion picture decay and flammability. The project will be co-investigated by two University of Wisconsin-Madison institutions--the Wisconsin Center for Film & Theater Research and the Mahanthappa Research Group--in partnership with the Wisconsin Historical Society. Used as the base for all professionally-produced motion pictures made between the 1890s and the early 1950s, cellulose nitrate is chemically unstable and highly flammable. Unfortunately, very little data about these risks is available to the preservation community. Project results will be published in a white paper targeted at an audience of archival professionals, and, as relevant, in amendments to the International Standard (ISO) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards on nitrate handling and storage

    Profile and outcome of pregnancy with congenital heart diseases: a retrospective study from a South Indian tertiary care hospital

    Background: Women with congenital heart disease who become pregnant form an important subgroup of pregnancy cardiac disorders. The additional stress of pregnancy represents a further challenge.Methods: This was a retrospective study. Patient records between 2011and 2015 pertaining to 77 pregnant women with congenital heart diseases were analysed.Results: There was only one patient aged more than 35 years. The age of the others ranged from 18 to 35 years. The mean age was 24 years. There was a slight rural preponderance with 43 (55.8%) from rural areas. Majority 49 (63.5%) belonged to lower middle socioeconomic status. 71 (92.2%) had NYHA functional Class I. Two patients of Class II had worsening of their status. There were no cases of Atrial Fibrillation and only 2(2.6%) had CCF.ASD closure was the commonest procedure done24 (31.2%). There were 6 (7.8%)cases of device closure of PDA and no cases of VSD. Anemia and GDM were seen in 4 (5.2%). The commonest period of gestation at delivery was 37-40 in 64 (83.1%). ASD was the commonest type of lesion 42 (54.5%). 36 (46.8%) had spontaneous labour and there were 18 23.4%)caesarians. Previous LSCS was the commonest indication for LSCS. Full term normal vaginal delivery was seen in 45 (88.2%). Majority of the newborns 30 (39%) had a birth weight in the range 2.6-3.0 kgs.Conclusions: There is a significant burden of Heart disease with pregnancy afflicting young rural women and those from lower socioeconomic levels. Higher level of specialised care minimizes poor maternal and fetal outcomes

    Simulation and Synthesis of Efficient Majority Logic Fault Detector Using EG-LDPC Codes to Reduce Access Time for Memory Applications

    This paper presents an error-detection method for Euclidean Geometry low density parity check codes with majority logic decoding methodology in VHDL language and the output is verified with the help of Xilinx12.1. Majority logic decodable codes are suitable for memory applications due to their capability to correct a large number of errors. However, they require a large decoding time that impacts memory performance. The proposed fault-detection method significantly reduces memory access time when there is no error in the data read. The technique uses the majority logic decoder itself to detect failures, which makes the area overhead minimal and keeps the extra power consumption low. Starting from the original design of the ML decoder introduced, the proposed ML Detector/Decoder (MLDD) has been implemented using the Euclidean Geometry low density parity check codes. The proposed improved majority logic detector/decoder to perform data error correction in simple way using additional error correction technique and also reducing the delay time by detecting the errors in parallel manner. Hence the decoding process uses less number of cycles which reduces the delay

    Palynological investigation of Lower Gondwana sediments of Goutham Khani Open Cast Mine (GKOCM) from Kothagudem sub basin of Godavari Valley Coalfield, Andhra Pradesh of Peninsular India have revealed two palynoassemblages are related to Early Permian (Barakar Formation). Palynoassemblage – A abundantly occurrence of Scheuringipollenites along with other common taxa like Parasaccites, Ibisporites, Primuspollenites, Sulcatisporites, Rhizomaspora, Densipollenites and Corisaccites and Palynoassemblage – B dominated by Scheuringipollenites along with sub dominance of Faunipollenites, Striatopodocarpites, Parasaccites, Striatites, Tiwariasporis, Rhizomaspora, Verticipollenites, Platysaccus, Primuspollenites, Lunatisporites, Latosporites, Ibisporites and Distriatites. The above demarcated palynoassemblages are applied to correlate with other horizons of Lower Gondwana deposits of India and also to fix the relative age for the sediments under investigation.
