    Gluing construction of initial data with Kerr-de Sitter ends

    We construct initial data sets which satisfy the vacuum constraint equa- tions of General Relativity with positive cosmologigal constant. More pre- silely, we deform initial data with ends asymptotic to Schwarzschild-de Sitter to obtain non-trivial initial data with exactly Kerr-de Sitter ends. The method is inspired from Corvino's gluing method. We obtain here a extension of a previous result for the time-symmetric case by Chru\'sciel and Pollack.Comment: 27 pages, 3 figure

    Padrões de crescimento no cavalo de desporto: aplicação de funções não-lineares

    Apresentação oralO conhecimento das taxas de crescimento mais adequadas a cada raça e tipo de utilização é fundamental para criadores e utilizadores. O presente estudo teve como objetivo caracterizar os padrões de crescimento de cavalos de desporto, nascidos e criados numa coudelaria de referência, em França, utilizando funções não lineares. Para o efeito, 72 poldros (39 machos e 33 fêmeas) das raças Hanoveriana e Oldenburgo foram periodicamente pesados e medidos, tendo sido obtidos 1.382 registos para o peso vivo (PV) e altura ao garrote (AG). Os dados foram recolhidos entre o nascimento e os 5 anos de idade, quando os cavalos já estavam em trabalho regular. Inicialmente, foram ajustadas várias funções não-lineares (Brody, Logistic, Gompertz, von Bertalanffy e Richards) utilizando o procedimento NLIN do SAS. Contudo, a equação de Richards y = A(1 – b.exp(-kt))M foi escolhida para a análise posterior por se tratar do modelo que melhor se ajustou às duas variáveis. As taxas de crescimento (GMD, kg/d ou cm/d) foram obtidas a partir da primeira derivada das equações e o efeito do sexo foi também avaliado. O PV médio à idade adulta foi de 623,2±14,1 kg e a altura ao garrote 172,9±1,3 cm. Segundo os modelos obtidos, as proporções (%) do PV adulto aos 6, 12, 24, 36 e 48 meses de idade foram, respetivamente, 39, 55, 74, 84 e 90%. As proporções da AG para as mesmas idades foram 80, 87, 93, 96 e 98%. Não foi observado dimorfismo sexual para a AG. No entanto, os modelos relativos ao PV são diferentes entre poldros e poldras (P<0,0001). As taxas de crescimento obtidas são semelhantes às descritas noutras raças de desporto para um crescimento moderado.     Challenges to Implementation of the Co-Curriculum in Accredited Pharmacy Programs

    Objective. To determine areas of concern, and challenges to implementing and assessing the co-curriculum in accredited Doctor of Pharmacy programs, along with how confident programs are in their ability to meet the co-curriculum requirement as mandated by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Methods. A survey was administered to all ACPE-accredited pharmacy programs to collect information regarding areas of concern, challenges, and confidence in their ability to meet the co-curriculum requirement. The frequency of responses to items are presented along with comparisons based on characteristics, including institution type, cohort size, most recent ACPE accreditation review, and supporting offices. Results. The most common concerns centered on the documentation and assessment process. The most commonly reported challenges were lack of enthusiasm or buy-in from faculty, staff, and students; lack of a clear definition of co-curriculum; and faculty time and insufficient staff. Overall, programs had a high level of confidence in their ability to meet the requirements for co-curriculum. The only differences found were related to supporting offices and cohort size. Conclusion. The results suggest that having supporting offices may reduce the co-curriculum burden. Similarly, student cohort size may have an impact on the challenges for some programs, particularly those with moderate-sized cohorts reporting challenges related to faculty and staff. Further research is needed to determine how programs address these critical issues, and to explore whether programs report differently on these areas after completing an accreditation review. The study results may be useful to members of the Academy when evaluating co-curriculum

The structural oversight of the co-curriculum typically included a co-curriculum committee, subcommittee, or task force, and supporting offices. The most common offices/departments involved in the co-curriculum were assessment, student affairs/services, experiential education, and academic/curricular affairs. The most common assessments were reflections, self-assessment surveys, and checklists. Conclusion. In most programs, implementation of the co-curriculum was a joint effort among various individuals, committees, and offices. Given the developing nature of programs, descriptive studies should be repeated to identify how programs develop and enhance co-curriculum models. The study results may be useful to members of the Academy when evaluating the current state of co-curriculum implementation and potential areas for program development

    Ileal vaginoplasty as vaginal reconstruction in transgender women and patients with disorders of sex development: an international, multicentre, retrospective study on surgical characteristics and outcomes

    OBJECTIVE: To describe the surgical outcomes of ileal vaginoplasty in transgender women and patients with disorders of sex development (DSD). PATIENTS AND METHODS: Transgender women and patients with DSD, who underwent ileal vaginoplasty at the VU University Medical Center Amsterdam, University Hospital Trieste, University Hospital Essen, and Belgrade University Hospital, were retrospectively identified. A chart review was performed, recording surgical technique, intraoperative characteristics, complications, and re-operations. RESULTS: We identified a total of 32 patients (27 transgender and five non-transgender), with a median (range) age of 35 (6-63) years. Ileal vaginoplasty was performed as the primary procedure in three and as a revision procedure in the remaining 29. The mean (sd) operative time was 288 (103) min. The procedure was performed laparoscopically (seven patients) or open (25). An ileal 'U-pouch' was created in five patients and a single lumen in 27. Intraoperative complications occurred in two patients (one iatrogenic bladder damage and one intraoperative blood loss necessitating transfusion). The median (range) hospitalisation was 12 (6-30) days. Successful neovaginal reconstruction was achieved in all. The mean (sd) achieved neovaginal depth was 13.2 (3.1) cm. The median (range) clinical follow-up was 35 (3-159) months. In one patient a recto-neovaginal fistula occurred, which lead to temporary ileostomy. Introital stenosis occurred in four patients (12.5%). CONCLUSION: Ileal vaginoplasty can be performed with few intra- and postoperative complications. It appears to have similar complication rates when compared to sigmoid vaginoplasty. It now seems to be used predominantly for revision procedures

    Geodetic Constraints on San Francisco Bay Area Fault Slip Rates and Potential Seismogenic Asperities on the Partially Creeping Hayward Fault

    The Hayward fault in the San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) is sometimes considered unusual among continental faults for exhibiting significant aseismic creep during the interseismic phase of the seismic cycle while also generating sufficient elastic strain to produce major earthquakes. Imaging the spatial variation in interseismic fault creep on the Hayward fault is complicated because of the interseismic strain accumulation associated with nearby faults in the SFBA, where the relative motion between the Pacific plate and the Sierra block is partitioned across closely spaced subparallel faults. To estimate spatially variable creep on the Hayward fault, we interpret geodetic observations with a three-dimensional kinematically consistent block model of the SFBA fault system. Resolution tests reveal that creep rate variations with a length scale of \u3c15 km are poorly resolved below 7 km depth. In addition, creep at depth may be sensitive to assumptions about the kinematic consistency of fault slip rate models. Differential microplate motions result in a slip rate of 6.7 ± 0.8 mm/yr on the Hayward fault, and we image along-strike variations in slip deficit rate at ∼15 km length scales shallower than 7 km depth. Similar to previous studies, we identify a strongly coupled asperity with a slip deficit rate of up to 4 mm/yr on the central Hayward fault that is spatially correlated with the mapped surface trace of the 1868 MW = 6.9–7.0 Hayward earthquake and adjacent to gabbroic fault surfaces
