    Using CMAP to analyse and show the declared knowledge and the knowledge in the action of languages teacher's trainers

    Presentamos una investigación en el área de la función asesora, cuyo estudio se realiza mediante dos estudios de caso sobre el conocimiento experto y las competencias de dos asesores de formación que son especialistas en ingles y trabajan en un Centro de Profesorado. Un conocimiento experto que analizamos desde el conocimiento declarado y el conocimiento en la acción. Ambos tipos de conocimiento se han hecho explícitos a través del análisis de las verbalizaciones de los asesores y del análisis de su práctica . A partir de este análisis, en el que se han utilizado los mapas conceptuales, se han analizado las competencias específicas y generales que destacan en el desarrollo de las situaciones de formación llevadas acabo por estos asesores. Definimos y presentamos ambos tipos de conocimiento y las competencias mostradas utilizando los mapas de conocimiento.We present a research in the area of the advisory function, whose study we approach across 2 case studies on 2 teachers training advisersʼ expert knowledge and competencies, who are specialists in English and working at a Teachers Training Centre. An expert knowledge that we analyze from the declared knowledge and the knowledge in the action. Both types of knowledge have become explicit across the analysis of advisersʼ verbalizations and across the analysis of their practice. Departing from the above mentioned analysis, there have been analyzed the specific and general competencies that stand out in the development of the training actions carried out by these advisersand. We refined and presented both knowledge and competences by using concept maps

    Mineralogical and geochemical nature of calcareous vineyard soils from alcubillas (La Mancha, Central Spain)

    The mineralogical and geochemical patterns of calcareous vineyard soils located in Alcubillas (La Mancha, Central Spain) have been evaluated; also their variability has been studied. The information provided by this study supports the assessment of geochemical spatial variability, the origin of these soils, their elements and the factors that control their distribution. The presence of quartz, calcite, feldspar and, in particular, illite and kaolinite is due to their inheritance from surrounding lithologies (and pedological processes), which mostly include limestones, marls and other sedimentary rocks, as well as metasedimentary rocks of Hercynian origin. Furthermore, since the presence and accumulation of certain trace elements in vineyard soils is a relevant global hazard (in particular with respect to wine production quality), the spatial distributions of Ba, Cr, Cu, Pb, Rb, Sr, V and Zr (carried out using geostatistical techniques and geometry-based interpolation methods) were investigated in order to determine the origin of these trace elements. The presence of these elements can be interpreted as being due to geogenic, pedogenic and, in certain cases, anthropic influences. The nature of certain agricultural practices, including the use of fertilizers, phytosanitary products and machinery, could explain the local increases in some trace element content

    Origin and distribution of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) in the water and sediments of El Hito Lake (Cuenca, Central Spain)

    Determination of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) in the waters and sediments of El Hito Lake and its drainage basin was carried out. Distribution maps for REEs concentrations show increasing values in the lake sediments from the center to the eastern edge reaching 166.5 mg/kg. In the drainage basin, higher values were observed with a maximum of 350.9 mg/kg in the southern part. Concentrations in the water were considerably lower with a maximum value of 1.3 µg/L. Ce, La and Nd were the most abundant elements. When normalized REE concentrations against NASC (North American Shale Composite), a positive anomaly of Eu in the water and of Nd in the sediments (lake and basin) was observed. The (La/Gd)NASC and (La/Yb)NASC ratios determined the predominance of light REE (LREE) over medium (MREE) and heavy REE (HREE)Se llevó a cabo el estudio de Tierras Raras (REEs) del agua y los sedimentos de la Laguna de El Hito así como de su cuenca de recepción. Los mapas de distribución de las concentraciones de REE en los sedimentos de la laguna mostraron valores crecientes desde el centro hacia el margen este alcanzando 166,5 mg/kg. En la cuenca se midieron valores más elevados llegando hasta 350,9 mg/kg en la mitad sur. Los valores en el agua fueron notablemente inferiores, con un máximo de 1,3 µg/L. El elemento más abundante fue el Ce seguido del Nd. Se normalizaron las concentraciones de REEs frente a las del NASC (North American Shale Composite), observándose una anomalía positiva de Eu en el agua, así como de Nd en los sedimentos (laguna y cuenca).     Monotonicity conditions for multirate and partitioned explicit Runge-Kutta schemes

    Multirate schemes for conservation laws or convection-dominated problems seem to come in two ¿avors: schemes that are locally inconsistent, and schemes that lack mass-conservation. In this paper these two defects are discussed for one-dimensional conservation laws. Particular attention will be given to monotonicity properties of the multirate schemes, such as maximum principles and the total variation diminishing (TVD) property. The study of these properties will be done within the framework of partitioned Runge-Kutta methods. It will also be seen that the incompatibility of consistency and mass-conservation holds for ‘genuine’ multirate schemes, but not for general partitioned methods

    Heavy metal contamination in sediments of an artificial reservoir impacted by long-term mining activity in the Almad\ue9n mercury district (Spain)

    Sediments from the Castilseras reservoir, located downstream on the Valdeazogues River in the Almad\ue9n mercury district, were collected to assess the potential contamination status related to metals(oids) associated with river sediment inputs from several decommissioned mines. Metals(oids) concentrations in the reservoir sediments were investigated using different physical and chemical techniques. The results were analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA) to explain the correlations between the sets of variables. The degree of contamination was evaluated using the enrichment factor (EF) and the geoaccumulation index (Igeo). PCA revealed that the silty fraction is the main metals(oids) carrier in the sediments. Among the potentially harmful elements, there is a group (Al, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, and Zn) that cannot be strictly correlated to the mining activity since their concentrations depend on the lithological and edaphological characteristics of the materials. In contrast, As, Co, Hg, Pb, and S showed significant enrichment and contamination, thus suggesting relevant contributions from the decommissioned mines through fluvial sediment inputs. As far as Hg and S are concerned, the high enrichment levels pose a question concerning the potential environmental risk of transfer of the organic forms of Hg (mainly methylmercury) from the bottom sediments to the aquatic food chain

    Clinical and Ambulatory Gait Speed in Older Adults: Associations With Several Physical, Mental, and Cognitive Health Outcomes

    Background: Although clinical gait speed may indicate health and well-being in older adults, there is a lack of studies comparing clinical tests with ambulatory gait speed with regard to several health outcomes. Objective: The objective of this study was to examine the associations of clinical gait speed, measured by the 2.44-m walk test and the ambulatory gait speed with several physical, mental, and cognitive health outcomes in older adults. Design: A cross-sectional design was used. Methods: The study population comprised 432 high-functioning, community-dwelling older adults (287 women) aged between 65 and 92 years. Clinical and ambulatory gait speeds were measured using the 2.44-m walk test and a portable gait analysis device, respectively. Multiple linear regressions were used to examine the association of clinical and ambulatory gait speeds with several health outcomes (body mass index, waist circumference, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, chronic conditions, self-rated health, exhaustion, upper- and lower-body strength, physical and mental health status, cognitive status, and self-rated cognitive status). Results: The results showed that the average gait speed for clinical and ambulatory measures cannot be directly compared. Clinical gait speed was associated with 7 health outcomes, and the ambulatory gait speed was associated with 6 health outcomes. The significant associations between measures of gait speed and the health outcomes converged in 5 of the 13 health outcomes studied; however, the strength of associations was singly different between measures. Limitations: The short monitoring time, the inability to distinguish between the ambulatory gait speed inside the home and outdoor gait speed, and the under-representative sample are limitations of the study. Conclusion: The results indicated differences in the number and strength of associations between clinical and ambulatory gait speed. Both measures have construct validity because they have been associated with physical and health outcomes; however, they may have different predictive validity. Further research should be conducted to compare their predictive validity in longitudinal design

    Primeros datos de isótopos de plomo en cinabrio del distrito de Almadén: Implicaciones en la génesis de los yacimientos de mercurio

    The Almadén district constitutes the largest and probably the most intriguing mercury concentration in the world. This paper reports the first lead isotope compositions of cinnabar from the district. Whole samples and stepwise leaching cinnabar aliquots display relatively homogeneous isotopic compositions (206Pb/204Pb = 18.112 - 18.460; 207Pb/204Pb = 15.635 - 15.705; 208Pb/204Pb = 38.531 - 38.826). Taken together with Jébrak et al. (2002) pyrite lead isotope results, the new cinnabar isotopic data defines a steep array trend on the 207Pb/204Pb - 206Pb/204Pb diagram, suggesting a mixed contribution from both ancient upper continental crust and (enriched mantle derived) magmatic sources for the ores of the Almadén Hg deposit
