W63+ and W64+ ionization by protons and photons
In this work we investigate the ionization by proton impact, and photo ionization, involving highly charged ions of W, in particular the Ne-like W64+ and Na-like W63+ which are more likely to appear in ITER plasma. Total cross sections are calculated in the continuum-distorted-wave-eikonal-initial-state (CDW-EIS) approximation for ion-impact, while two completely different methods are used for photoionization: a perturbative dipolar aproach and the recently introduced Sturmian model.

Characterization of physical and mechanical properties for the structural use of wood of the species “Acacia Mangium ”.
Acacia Mangium Wild puede ubicarse dentro de la categoría ES5 de NSR-10.The study consisted of the characterization of basic mechanical properties of interest for
the use of Acacia Mangium Wild wood from the Sinu River Valley in the department of
Cordoba in structural elements in buildings, to expand its presence in the construction
industry in Colombia.
To determine the different properties, a visit was made to the areas where the wood logs
to be studied were obtained, which were divided into two large groups, oven-dried and
air-dried, so as to be later physically and mechanically characterized. In the development
of this research, the modulus of elasticity and resistance to bending, traction and
compression parallel and perpendicular to the grain and shear were evaluated. In addition,
densities and moisture contents were also determined.
The results obtained indicate a good quality wood, which is suitable for use as the main
material in the elaboration of structural elements in buildings. A classification according
to the modulus of elasticity as specified by the Colombian Seismic Resistant Construction
Regulation (NSR-10) and comparing the different values with those presented for
different woods, it is found that Acacia Mangium Wild can be placed within category ES5
Research about the school has allowed us to understand that the building can complement various social dynamics, in which pedagogues are protagonists and where the built space must coexist with those intentions originating in the social. Through architecture, some relevant pedagogies and the role of the environment as a complement to education were analyzed. The importance of the architectural space for academic training, initially, can be interpreted from a city scale based on Aldo Van Eyck's game. An event addressed as the consequence of a change in social perspective in the Industrial Revolution and post-war periods. From this moment, the education of children was especially favored for the development of society. From that time, urban planning plans were incorporated that defined specific school zones, in which Herman Hertzberger intervened as one of the pioneers of the social-spatial transformation in favour of education.
The educational community maintains an exploration in order to establish tools that promote educational and social improvements in schools, which advances and consolidates the binomial architecture-pedagogy. Research about an understanding of the educational environment includes pedagogical, conceptual, urban, technological, constructive, scientific, community and normative aspects. In other words, diversity of physical and social parameters, from a top-bottom logic (city-classroom). Architects in this work have chosen to intervene with different conceptualized design methodologies, with the aim of positively influencing the space to favour education and social welfare
Assessment of Algerian Maize Populations for Saccharification and Nutritive Value
© 2020 by the authors.Maize (Zea mays L.) from the Algerian Sahara was adapted to arid conditions and has been used for food and feed. The objective of this work was to assess the potential value of Saharan maize for saccharification and nutritive value under drought conditions. Eighteen maize populations from the Algerian Sahara were evaluated under drought and control conditions and representative samples of those populations were taken for nutrients and saccharification analyses. The evaluation of saccharification was made in one Spanish trial under drought and control conditions. Differences among Algerian populations for nutritive value were significant for starch and ash, but not for lipids and proteins. Drought-reduced saccharification yield and differences among populations were significant for saccharification potential under drought conditions, and for saccharification yield under both drought and control conditions. The Algerian populations PI527465 and PI542689 had high grain starch and low ash, PI527469 and PI527474 had a balanced nutritional value, and PI527475 and PI542683 had low grain starch and moderately high ash. Besides high nutritional value, the drought-tolerant population PI542683 had high saccharification under drought conditions. Most agronomic traits had no significant effects on saccharification, and some grain nutrients affected saccharification and agronomic performance. Therefore, improving the nutritive value of grain and saccharification of stover, while maintaining agronomic performance, could be feasible, attending to the weak interactions between them. This work was financed by the Spanish Ministerio de Innovación y Universidades (MCIU), the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) and the European Fund for Regional Development (FEDER), UE (project code AGL2016-77628-R and RTI2018–096776-B-C22), and the École Nationale Supérieure Agronomique (Algeria).Peer reviewe

Use of Ionic Liquids-like Surfactants for the Generation of Unilamellar Vesicles with Potential Applications in Biomedicine
The goal of this work is to understand the influence of the counterion nature on the organized systems formed by 1,4-bis-2-ethylhexylsulfosuccinate surfactants in aqueous solutions and how these aggregates will influence the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)-surfactant interactions. With this in mind, two ionic liquid-like surfactants were investigated: 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium 1,4-bis-2-ethylhexylsulfosuccinate (bmim-AOT) and 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium 1,4-bis-2-ethylhexylsulfosuccinate (hmim-AOT). Measurements of dynamic light scattering, ζ-potential, transmission electron microscopy, and fluorescence and UV-visible spectroscopy were performed to study the characteristics of the vesicles formed by bmim-AOT and hmim-AOT. Regarding the determination of the interaction of the surfactants with DNA, circular dichroism was used. The results obtained showed that bmim-AOT and hmim-AOT ionic liquid-like surfactants spontaneously form unilamellar vesicles in water at very low surfactant concentrations. The characteristics of these aggregates are dependent on the length of the tail of the counterions. The length of the hydrophobic chains of the counterions also influences the DNA-surfactant interactions through hydrophobic effects.Fil: Lépori, Cristian Marcelo Oscar. The EDGE-CALIFA Survey: Evidence for Pervasive Extraplanar Diffuse Ionized Gas in Nearby Edge-On Galaxies
We investigate the prevalence, properties, and kinematics of extraplanar
diffuse ionized gas (eDIG) in a sample of 25 edge-on galaxies selected from the
CALIFA survey. We measure ionized gas scale heights from and
find that 90% have measurable scale heights with a median of
kpc. From the kinematics, we find that 60%
of galaxies show a decrease in the rotation velocity as a function of height
above the midplane. This lag is characteristic of eDIG, and we measure a median
lag of 21 km s kpc which is comparable to lags measured in the
literature. We also investigate variations in the lag with radius. lags have been reported to systematically decrease with
galactocentric radius. We find both increasing and decreasing ionized gas lags
with radius, as well as a large number of galaxies consistent with no radial
lag variation, and investigate these results in the context of internal and
external origins for the lagging ionized gas. We confirm that the / and /
line ratios increase with height above the midplane as is characteristic of
eDIG. The ionization of the eDIG is dominated by star-forming complexes (leaky
regions). We conclude that the lagging ionized gas is
turbulent ejected gas likely resulting from star formation activity in the disk
as opposed to gas in the stellar thick disk or bulge. This is further evidence
for the eDIG being a product of stellar feedback and for the pervasiveness of
this WIM-like phase in many local star-forming galaxies.Comment: 36 pages (including 13 appendix pages), 17 figures, resubmitted to
