Waste management based on circular economy principles

    Get PDF
Waste management has strategic implications in contemporary world. The demand in combination of economic development with environmental safety is urging to focus on capacities of non-linear economy. Waste management should redirect its efforts to reduction, recycling and treatment techniques, which view the wastes as resources. The goal of this paper is to study theoretical and practical issues of waste management based on circular economy principles from perspective of cross-disciplinary eco-economic collaboration. © 2020 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Ð Ð¤Ð¤Ð : 20 -010-00558“ The reported study was funded by RFBR, project number 20 -010-0055

Methodological Approach to Measure the Quality of Life of the Region’s Population

The article is devoted to the urgent problem of the regional development, i.e. to the development of methodological tools to evaluate the quality of life of the population in the region. The article considers the concept of “quality of life”, and the terms related thereto; and substantiate the author’s position with respect to the concept. The existing domestic and foreign approaches to evaluate the quality of life of the population were analyzed, and the application of the comprehensive approach was reasoned within this study. The criteria for evaluation of the quality of life of the population were distinguished. The authors proposed the methodological approach that considers not only objective indicators of the quality of life presented in the statistical reports of the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, but also employs subjective evaluations of the local population enabling more appropriate evaluation of the quality of life in the region. The methodological tools of the research include mathematical methods of statistical data processing and online survey of the population about the level of satisfaction with various aspects of their life. The methodological tools were tested using the example of the Sverdlovsk Region that is characterized both by the steady improvement of statistical indicators of the quality of life and by low satisfaction of population with certain aspects of the quality of life, which generally decreases the integrated indicator of the quality of life despite positive dynamics of social and economic development of the region and vigorous social policy of the regional authorities. The proposed methodology was used in the evaluation of the quality of life of the Sverdlovsk Region population as part of the development of the Concept of comprehensive regional program “New quality of life of Ural residents” (Decree of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region No. 45-UG dated January 29, 2014 “On the Concept of the life quality improvement for the Sverdlovsk Region population before 2030 year — “New quality of life of Ural residents”).The article has been prepared with the support of the grant of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) No. 15-06-09169 “Development of methodical measurement tools and evaluation of the impact of social, economic, medical and demographic factors on mortality rates of working-age population”

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Ga Penetration along Grain Boundaries in Al: a Dislocation Climb Mechanism

Many systems where a liquid metal is in contact with a polycrystalline solid exhibit deep liquid grooves where the grain boundary meets the solid-liquid interface. For example, liquid Ga quickly penetrates deep into grain boundaries in Al, leading to intergranular fracture under very small stresses. We report on a series of molecular dynamics simulations of liquid Ga in contact with an Al bicrystal. We identify the mechanism for liquid metal embrittlement, develop a new model for it, and show that is in excellent agreement with both simulation and experimental data

Features of human capital in urban territories

The article is devoted to the peculiarities of the agglomeration processes in Russia that are associated with the transition from the industrial phase to the post-industrial phase of the urbanization. Comparative analysis of results of transition processes in Perm and Yekaterinburg areas is given. Special attention is paid to human capital agglomeration, which is regarded as a component of territorial capital. The calculations of human capital of agglomerated areas in general and of centers of agglomerated areas are carried out. The article contains conclusions on the relationship of human capital as a tangible asset of a big city with the development of specific social capital of the city, aimed at active policy of urbanization. As a theoretical framework it is proposed to use the territorial capital theory. Keywords: urbanization; agglomeration; human capital; territorial capita

This paper examines the painted and carved altarpiece made by the painter Antonio de Alfián and the “entallador” Juan de Oviedo the Elder for Melchor de Horozco in the parish church of Santa Ana in Seville. Only the paintings, however, are preserved. Never before linked to this master, these paintings allow a more complete understanding of Alfián’s somewhat unknown style. Thanks to the documentation of the altarpiece, it is now possible to attribute other works to this painter, some of which we study

The methodology of food design. Part 2. Digital nutritiology in personal food

Atherosclerosis (the main cause of a wide range of cardiovascular diseases) and other multifactorial diseases depend on several nutrition factors, defined in general by lifestyle that directly and constantly affects the human body. The modern level of science and technology development is able to form a diet, taking into account all personal characteristics in such a way that makes nutrition an effective preventive measure against diseases in order to keep a person healthy. The purpose of this article is to define and study all the limitations (the scope of its coverage in the scientific literature) that arose in the process of research aimed to formation of an integrated personal approach to designing of nutrition to prevent atherosclerosis. The object of the study was scientific literature, which is available in open source and free access databases: PubMed, ScienceDirect, eLIBRARY.RU, www.fips.ru, Patentscope. The language of search is Russian and English, search depth is 12 years. In the course of the research two food design concepts were found that affect process of digitalization in the food sector: the concept “FoodTech” (food technology) and digital nutritiology. It was established that in Russia only one company — LLC “City Supermarket” (Moscow), that works with the brand “Azbuka Vkusa” — acts in the sphere of “FoodTech” on the Russian market. This company selects personalized food, taking into account the results of personal nutrigenetic tests, in cooperation with LLC “Genotech” (Moscow). There is a need to use biological information, statistical information processing (nutrigenetic studies, nutrigenomic research) and machine-aided data processing (machine learning) for further generation of automatic algorithm that compiles personal recommendations. The relevance of generation of a national domestic database on chemical composition of food products (presented in the market) to simplify the preparation of individual personal diets is observed. We underline the necessity to use the test-organisms, i. e. dorio fish / zebrafish (Danio rerio) and nematodes (Caenorhabditis elegans)), which were used to determine the activity of candidate substances — the biologically active substances that feature antiatherosclerotic properties. In the future the authors plan to conduct a nutrigenomic and nutrigenetic study, using digital achievements. To collect information about consumers, it is necessary to apply digital devices, and use biological informatics to process the results; after that it is necessary to generate the algorithm for automatic selection of personalized dietary recommendations

The arguments substantiating the necessity of creation and development of a quality management system in educational programs in business schools are presented. The problems of evaluating the quality of educational programs related to their effectiveness are examined. The problems of internal control of educational programs, monitoring the results of training and the quality of teaching are systematized. Special attention is paid to the solution of organizational and methodological problems: the formation of a system of analytical indicators that allows to effectively implement the main objectives of assessing the quality of education, the study and self-assessment of the state of development and efficiency of the business school
