    RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SERUM IRON AND CHARACTERISTICS SOCIAL POPULATION IN PATIENTS WITH HELICOBACTER PYLORI INFECTION

    The objective of the study is to investigate the value of serum iron index in patients infected with Helicobacter pylori and find out the correlation between serum iron index and sociodemographic characteristics in patients infected with Helicobacter pylori at faculty 2 of University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City. The study used CLO and HP CIM tests to determine the Helicobacter pylori infection status, and also collected the serum/plasma of the patient after the HP CIM test to investigate the serum iron index. The Stata 14.0 software was used to manage and analyse data, the ANOVA test was used to test for 3 means or more, and the Chi-squared test was used to test the difference in proportions between groups. The results showed that the serum iron concentration in the patient group was 59,4±42,1 mg/dL lower than the serum iron value in the control group, which was 86,1±32,0 mg/dL (p < 0,001). The results also indicated that the serum iron value in patients infected with Helicobacter pylori decreased as compared to patients without infection, yet the study also found a relationship between age group and geographical factors. This difference is statistically significant with p < 0,001, p = 0,001, p = 0,04 and p = 0,001

    Determinants of Green Banking Implementation in Emerging Country: Evidence from Vietnam Banks

    With the purpose of examining which factors affecting on the implementation of ‘Green Banking’ in transitional countries, the research used in-depth interview and survey questionnaire with statistics analysis with the case of Vietnam banks. The results showed that in emerging country such as Vietnam, the level of ‘Green Banking’ implementation is most affected by Human determinant, followed by Strategy, Product &amp; Services, Culture and Technology determinant respectively. Based on findings, several implications were proposed to enhance the performance of these kind of environment friendly financial products in transitional country. By determining these factors, the banking sector in transitional countries will enhance the implementation of ‘Green Banking’ and achieve sustainable development in the context of escalating environmental contamination.     An Exploration into the Benefits of the CLIP model for Lifelog Retrieval

    In this paper, we attempt to fine-tune the CLIP (Contrastive Language-Image Pre-Training) model on the Lifelog Question Answering dataset (LLQA) to investigate retrieval performance of the fine-tuned model over the zero-shot baseline model. We train the model adopting a weight space ensembling approach using a modified loss function to take into account the differences in our dataset (LLQA) when compared with the dataset the CLIP model was originally pretrained on. We further evaluate our fine-tuned model using visual as well as multimodal queries on multiple retrieval tasks, demonstrating improved performance over the zero-shot baseline model

    Evaluation of awake prone positioning effectiveness in moderate to severe COVID-19

    Evidence mainly from high income countries suggests that lying in the prone position may be beneficial in patients with COVID-19 even if they are not receiving invasive ventilation. Studies indicate that increased duration of prone position may be associated with improved outcomes, but achieving this requires additional staff time and resources. Our study aims to support prolonged (≄ 8hours/day) awake prone positioning in patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 disease in Vietnam.     Safety and efficacy of fluoxetine on functional outcome after acute stroke (AFFINITY): a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

    Background Trials of fluoxetine for recovery after stroke report conflicting results. The Assessment oF FluoxetINe In sTroke recoverY (AFFINITY) trial aimed to show if daily oral fluoxetine for 6 months after stroke improves functional outcome in an ethnically diverse population. Methods AFFINITY was a randomised, parallel-group, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial done in 43 hospital stroke units in Australia (n=29), New Zealand (four), and Vietnam (ten). Eligible patients were adults (aged ≄18 years) with a clinical diagnosis of acute stroke in the previous 2–15 days, brain imaging consistent with ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke, and a persisting neurological deficit that produced a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 1 or more. Patients were randomly assigned 1:1 via a web-based system using a minimisation algorithm to once daily, oral fluoxetine 20 mg capsules or matching placebo for 6 months. Patients, carers, investigators, and outcome assessors were masked to the treatment allocation. The primary outcome was functional status, measured by the mRS, at 6 months. The primary analysis was an ordinal logistic regression of the mRS at 6 months, adjusted for minimisation variables. Primary and safety analyses were done according to the patient's treatment allocation. The trial is registered with the Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry, ACTRN12611000774921. Findings Between Jan 11, 2013, and June 30, 2019, 1280 patients were recruited in Australia (n=532), New Zealand (n=42), and Vietnam (n=706), of whom 642 were randomly assigned to fluoxetine and 638 were randomly assigned to placebo. Mean duration of trial treatment was 167 days (SD 48·1). At 6 months, mRS data were available in 624 (97%) patients in the fluoxetine group and 632 (99%) in the placebo group. The distribution of mRS categories was similar in the fluoxetine and placebo groups (adjusted common odds ratio 0·94, 95% CI 0·76–1·15; p=0·53). Compared with patients in the placebo group, patients in the fluoxetine group had more falls (20 [3%] vs seven [1%]; p=0·018), bone fractures (19 [3%] vs six [1%]; p=0·014), and epileptic seizures (ten [2%] vs two [<1%]; p=0·038) at 6 months. Interpretation Oral fluoxetine 20 mg daily for 6 months after acute stroke did not improve functional outcome and increased the risk of falls, bone fractures, and epileptic seizures. These results do not support the use of fluoxetine to improve functional outcome after stroke

    Depth Profiles of Microplastics in Sediment Cores from Two Mangrove Forests in Northern Vietnam

    Plastics are essential materials that play critical roles in people&rsquo;s lives in the modern world. However, plastic pollution in the ocean has become a critical environmental problem due to the fact of its durability and long life span. In the present study, we analyze the contamination of microplastics in sediment cores from mangrove forests of the Red River Delta and Tien Yen Bay in Northern Vietnam. The results showed that the concentration of microplastics in sediment cores ranged from 0 to 4941 particles/kg, with four types of microplastics: microfiber, microfragment, microfoam, and microfilm. Microplastics were not observed in sediment samples lower than 65 and 70 cm core depth in sediment cores from the Tien Yen Bay and Red River Delta. The microplastic concentration in sediment cores from the Red River Delta was significantly higher than those of Tien Yen Bay, reflecting the influence of anthropogenic activities on microplastics pollution. The present results highlight that the accumulation of microplastics may have occurred a long time ago and tends to increase in the future. Further investigation on microplastic accumulation rates, sources of microplastics, and reducing plastic pollution is necessary to minimize the impacts of microplastic pollution on aquatic life and the environment

    Factors affecting corporate social responsibilities disclosure of listed companies in Vietnam

    AbstractThis paper aims to research factors that affect corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure in the context of listed companies in Vietnam. Our research uses data from listed companies in the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchanges from 2015 to 2020. We conduct the quantitative research by analyzing regression models therefore the relation between factors and CSR disclosure is found. We measure CSR disclosure in two ways: by total score and percentage. The result found that in both ways of measuring, the percentage of women on board and company age have a positive impact on CSR disclosure. In contrast to this, board size and board age have a negative effect on CSR disclosure. The other independent variables have no impact on CSR disclosure. Therefore, we have given some practical implications for companies that want to improve their CSR disclosure

    Curcuminoid Co-Loading Platinum Heparin-Poloxamer P403 Nanogel Increasing Effectiveness in Antitumor Activity

    Nanosized multi-drug delivery systems provide synergistic effects between drugs and bioactive compounds, resulting in increased overall efficiency and restricted side effects compared to conventional single-drug chemotherapy. In this study, we develop an amphiphilic heparin-poloxamer P403 (HP403) nanogel that could effectively co-load curcuminoid (Cur) and cisplatin hydrate (CisOH) (HP403@CisOH@Cur) via two loading mechanisms. The HP403 nanogels and HP403@CisOH@Cur nanogels were closely analyzed with 1H-NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, TEM, and DLS, exhibiting high stability in spherical forms. In drug release profiles, accelerated behavior of Cur and CisOH at pH 5.5 compared with neutral pH was observed, suggesting effective delivery of the compounds in tumor sites. In vitro studies showed high antitumor activity of HP403@CisOH@Cur nanogels, while in vivo assays showed that the dual-drug platform prolonged the survival time of mice and prevented tail necrosis. In summary, HP403@CisOH@Cur offers an intriguing strategy to achieve the cisplatin and curcumin synergistic effect in a well-designed delivery platform that increases antitumor effectiveness and overcomes undesired consequences caused by cisplatin in breast cancer treatment

    Association of Individual and Neighborhood Characteristics to Problematic Internet Use among Youths and Adolescents: Evidence from Vietnam

    Introduction: This study aimed to determine latent profiles from the Problematic Internet Use Questionnaire Short Form-6 (PIUQ-SF-6) score of Vietnamese youths and adolescents, which supports the diagnosis of problematic internet use among a large sample size. Moreover, it also explored factors that affect each latent profile of the PIUQ-SF-6 score among participants. Methods: A sample of 1477 Vietnamese people, aged 14 to 24, across five provinces participated in the study. Multinomial logistic regression determined factors related to the levels of the Problematic Internet Use Questionnaire Short Form-6 (PIUQ-SF-6) after using latent profile analysis. Results: Participants were divided into three profiles, including those at low, moderate, and high risk of internet addiction. The high-risk latent profile was obtained for 23.1% of adolescents, and the remaining percentages were, respectively, 40.2% and 36.7% of adolescents belonging to the moderate and low-risk groups. Moreover, factors including age, living alone, high Kessler psychological distress scale, excessive time on the internet, living in central cities, and high neighborhood disorder scores were found to be related to moderate- and high-risk internet addiction profiles. Conclusions: Factors analyzed according to individual and social characteristics further explore the reasons underlying increasing internet addiction among Vietnamese youths and inform early interventions
