Topik ini dipilih adalah diatas kesedaran penulis terhadap petapa pentingnya semua golongan masyarakat untuk mengetahui tentang senibina tradisional di Malaysia yang semakin pupus. Kajian ini dibuat sebagai memperkenalkan semula dan melihat secara ringkas satu bentuk rumah tertua di negeri Perak

Neurosurgical Management of Self-Inflicted Cranial Crossbow Injury

Background Although gun-related penetrating traumatic brain injuries make up the majority of cranial missile injuries, low-velocity penetrating injuries present significant clinical difficulties that cannot necessarily be identically managed. Bow hunting is an increasingly popular pastime, and a crossbow allows a unique mechanism to cause a self-inflicted cranial injury with a large, low-velocity projectile. Historically, arrow removal is described in an operating room setting, which provides limited knowledge of the location of vascular injury in the setting of postremoval hemorrhage, and may represent an inefficient use of operating room availability. Case Description Two patients presented after self-inflicted cranial crossbow injuries. Both were neurologically salvageable. Initial assessment with computed tomography angiography allowed triage into likely or unlikely vascular injury. Arrow removal was performed in a radiology setting rather than in the operating room to allow immediate postremoval imaging to localize hemorrhage. While an operating room was on standby, neither patient required neurosurgical operative intervention. Both patients made a good recovery with no further injury caused by arrow removal. Conclusions We describe a novel approach to retained cranial arrow removal in a radiologic, rather than operative, setting and describe its relative benefits over traditional removal in the operating room

Passive element fault analysis at the last mile of the FTTH network in Malaysia

The optical transceiver performance for GPON FTTH (OLTTx and ONURx) for 300 live subscribers at legacy area has been monitored hourly for a duration of four months. The optical performance is then plotted against its faults due to the passive element at the last mile of the GPON FTTH network. The results show that the fault rate for aerial type of fiber distribution (FDP) is higher (1.3%) than building, street cabinet and underground FDP types. More than 65% of the faults are contributed by optical fibers (drop fibers) and the rest is due to fiber connectors. The optical power received (ONURx) spectrum shows three types of patterns before disconnection; sudden disconnection, fluctuation and degradation of ONURx. This study provides preliminary information necessary for developing the passive element fault prediction for GPON FTTH at the last mile of the network

Film-induced tourism: push and pull motivation factors of local young travelers to visit film locations in Malaysia

The main objectives of this research is to identify the push and pull motivation factors that give the most contribution towards visiting the film locations and also to identify the pattern of film-watching habits that influence local young travelers to visit the film locations in Malaysia. The theory of push and pull factors was adopted from previous study and discussed in detail in this research. Data collected aiming the responses from Malaysian young travelers aged 15 to 30 all around in Malaysia. The sampling techniques being used in this research were through convenience and snowball sampling method by using the electronic questionnaire. Targeted respondents in the research was 384 and 189 were able to be collected through pilot testing. The result from this research discovered that there were several of push and pull motivation factors that inducing local young travelers to visit the film locations in Malaysia. Findings show that unique experience gives the most impact in push factors in explaining young travelers to visit the film locations while for pull factors are the entertainment. Last but not least, the pattern of film-watching habit, obtained from local young travelers also can contribute towards the better film study and enhance the film as a powerful marketing in attracting more domestic and international tourists through films and dramas

Adaptive multiscale moment method applied to the electromagnetic scattering by coastal breaking sea waves

International audienceThe adaptive multiscale moment method (AMMM) was originally developed to solve Fredholm equation. More recently, this method has demonstrated to be effective for scattering problems. In this article, we show that AMMM is a relevant approach to model and to analyze the electromagnetic scattering by coastal breaking sea waves. The shape of breaking wave results from very nonlinear fluid mechanics and is a complex target for electromagnetic scattering. This article presents an efficient hydrodynamic model and, combined with AMMM, a global realistic numerical simulation of the electromagnetic signature induced by breaking sea waves
