Agricultural policy instruments are implementing in different ways among all agricultural based activities. These instruments have been performed for livestock including dairy cattle and milk for many years in Turkey. Until the year 1950, agricultural support system was organized according to genetically improvement, animal illnesses and veterinary services. Nowadays, agricultural support composition has changed. Milk incentive premium is one of the supports given to producers to achieve high quality level for milk. The idea behind this premium was to provide well organized milk distribution channel from producers to modern enterprises. In this study, producers who receive milk incentive premium were chosen for face to face survey in Antalya province. It was examined from the study if premium system is accomplished through the idea. The secondary outcomes of the research were to determine the influence of the premium on producers attitudes, income level, product quantity, as well as membership tendency for cooperatives or unions.milk incentive premium, milk marketing, producer surplus, Antalya, Agricultural and Food Policy, Livestock Production/Industries,

Three Essays on Adaptive Learning in Monetary Economics

Adaptive learning is important in dynamic models since it is a process that shows the improvement in the understanding of the agents of the model. Whenever there is a dynamic environment, there is a room for improvement through learning. In this thesis I analyze the adaptive learning of the agents in different setups. In my first paper I show that adaptive learning does not eliminate the multiplicity of stationary equilibria in the Diamond overlapping generations model with money and productive capital; both dynamically efficient and inefficient equilibria are found to be stable under adaptive learning. In my second paper I show that the two agents of a natural-rate model, with different beliefs, learn the economy which leads to convergence or endogenous fluctuations of the inflation rate under different conditions. And in my last paper I show that a central bank with an extraneous instrument, "cheap talk" announcements, can influence the private sector to achieve better outcomes than could be obtained by manipulating the nominal interest rate alone with full knowledge of private sector expectation formation and in anything less than full knowledge, the private sector learns to discount announcements

A 59-year-old female patient was admitted to the emergency service with complaints of hematemesis and melena for the last few days. In laboratory tests, the platelet count was found to be /L. Intravenous or oral corticosteroid treatment was thought to be given for ITP but disclaimed due to upper GIS bleeding. On the 5th day of treatment, Brucella melitensis was isolated from blood culture before the results of Wright tube agglutination tests were reported positive as 1 : 80. On the second day of the anti-brucellosis treatment, the thrombocyte count was raised from 6000/mm3 to 110000/mm3, and on the 3rd day to 225000/mm3

Sheep breeding is important in terms of meeting both the demand of red meat consumption and the availability of industrial raw materials and the employment of the rural sector in Turkey. It is also very important to ensure the selection and continuity of the breeds that are raised in order to increase quality and productive products related to sheep breeding. The protection of local breeds and crossbreds also enables the development of the sector in the region and the reduction of imports. In this study, the data were obtained from the records of the Turkish Statistical Institute and Antalya Sheep & Goat Breeders' Association. Spatial distribution of sheep breeds in Antalya is reviewed statistically in terms of concentration at the local level for 2015 period spatially. For this reason; mapping, box plot, linear regression are used in this study. Concentration is introduced by means of studbook data on sheep breeding as locals and total sheep farm by mapping. It is observed that Pırlak breed (17.5%) and Merinos crossbreed (16.3%) have the highest concentration in the region. These breeds are respectively followed by Akkaraman breed (11%), Pirlak crossbreed (8%), Merinos breed (7.9%) Akkaraman crossbreed (7.9%) and Ivesi breed (7.2%)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the competitive advantage and long-term viability of Turkiye agri-food exports to the European Union (EU) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) markets. The Lafay index and trade ratios were utilized to investigate comparative and competitive advantage, while the survival function was employed to estimate export competition for the EU and SCO markets. The results indicate that Turkiye has a competitive edge in the export of fruits and vegetables to the EU and SCO states. However, the period of comparative advantage experienced by EU and SCO countries was not similar, nor was the benefit consistent. Despite fluctuations in Turkiye's international trade balance with SCO members, its foreign trade with EU members has increased. Hence, Turkiye should continue to trade in agri-food with the EU while simultaneously expanding business networks with SCO countries.Peer reviewe

Purpose To investigate the prevalence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression after open globe injury in adults. Methods A total of 95 participants, 43 adult patients with open globe injury and 52 age-sex similar subjects (control group), were included in this cross-sectional study. Age, gender, education level, occupation, accident history, psychiatric history, trauma type, cause of trauma, and visual acuity were recorded. One to six months after trauma, PTSD and depression symptoms of the participants were evaluated with the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Questionnaire-Civil Version Scale (PTSD-S) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), respectively. Results Patients with open globe injury had a higher PTSD-S total score than the control group, but not significant (23.67 +/- 20.41 vs. 18.56 +/- 13.13, p = 0.580). Patients with eye trauma exhibited a much higher prevalence of PTSD compared to the control group (20.9% vs. 3.8%, p = 0.010). Patients with trauma had a significantly higher BDI total score than the control group (12.47 +/- 10.08 vs. 7.69 +/- 6.10, p = 0.015). Also, patients had a higher rate of depression symptoms than controls (25.6% vs. 7.7%, p = 0.017). A significant positive correlation was observed between PTSD-S and BDI scores in the trauma group (r = 0.720, p < 0.001). Conclusion An increased prevalence of PTSD and depression was observed in adults after open globe injury. The significant relationship between PTSD-S and BDI scores indicates that patients with open globe injuries should be questioned in terms of both symptoms. For patients with open globe trauma, a holistic approach with psychosocial assessment in addition to physical intervention would be beneficial

KISA, Ucler/0000-0002-8131-6810WOS: 000427277200013PubMed: 28635514Background: The hypothalamic-pituitary-tyhroid axis is directly affected by drastic changes in energy stores. The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of triiodothyronine (T3) treatment on cut-surface healing of remnant stomach with weight loss alterations after sleeve gastrectomy (SG). Methods: Thirty male Wistar Albino rats were divided into three groups: sham (n = 6), control (n = 12), and experimental (n = 12). Control and experimental group rats underwent sleeve gastrectomy. Experimental group rats received a single dose of T3 (400 mg/100 g) on the first postoperative day whereas control group rats received 0.9% NaCl. All rats were sacrificed on the seventh postoperative day. Results: In the group of rats receiving T3, levels of FT3 were significantly higher and that of FT4 were significantly lower compared with both the control and sham group rats (p .05). Microscopic examination of the cut surface of remnant stomach in the control group rats revealed significantly more severe tissue necrosis, edema, and disruption of mucosal epithelium than in the T3 group rats (p <.05). On the other hand, bridging of the submucosal and muscular layers, tissue granulation, fibroblast accumulation, neoangiogenesis, and collagen deposition in the T3 group rats were significantly higher than in the control group rats (p <.05). Conclusions: Sleeve gastrectomy did not significantly alter thyroid hormone levels in short term. T3 hormone therapy seems to deliver constructive therapeutic effects for wound healing while causing no adverse effect on weight reduction

Objective: Referral of sexually abused children and adolescents to the Forensic Medicine Council showed that sexual abuse of children and adolescents is prevalent in Turkey. Unfortunately, very few studies have examined the characteristics of sexual offenders against children and adolescents in Turkey. This study examined the sociocultural features of sexual offenders against children and adolescents from Western Black Sea, Mediterranean, Marmara and East Anatolia regions of Turkey. Methods: The sex offenders against children and adolescents referred for forensic psychiatric examination to the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry outpatient clinics of University of Zonguldak Karaelmas Hospital, Elazig Mental Health Hospital, Adana Ekrem Tok Mental Health Hospital, Bursa Dortcelik Childrens' Hospital were recruited for the study. Data for sex offenders were obtained from the medical and legal documents of children and adolescents. The sex offenders were assessed for demographic and legal characteristics: age, gender, marital status, education level, substance and alcohol use history and use of child pornography/computer. Results: All of the sexual offenders against children and adolescents were male. In most of the cases the child knows the offender (e. g. neighbor, relative, family friend, or local individual with authority). Females were the most commonly abused, with the percentage of abused females increasing with age. In addition, most of the sex offenders was not married and had low level of education, substance and alcohol use history. Conclusion: Most of the sex offenders against children and adolescents were male and not married. They had high rates of substance use history, low level of education. Further research is needed to better identify clinically significant differences among the different types of sex offenders against children and adolescents in Turkey.
