Podcasting true crime jako medialny gatunek hybrydyczny

The article describes the hybrid of medium and the narrative genre, which is true crime (TC) podcasting. Combining new technology and old storytelling, it blends activism with consumerism, information with entertainment, and the real with the virtual. It may be an example of the media demassification trend and for this reason it is worth researching. The author shows that it should also become the subject of analyzes of the engaged humanities. TC podcasts not only verbalize and promote certain attitudes towards crime, but also constitute a tool of social criticism. Contrary to earlier TC texts, they redirect the audience’s attention from the crime itself and the criminal to the problem of the failure of the security services to fulfill the tasks entrusted to them.Artykuł omawia genezę i charakterystykę hybrydy medium i gatunku narracyjnego, jaką jest podcasting true crime (TC). Łącząc nową technologię i stary typ opowieści, kontaminuje on aktywizm z konsumpcjonizmem, informację z rozrywką oraz to, co rzeczywiste, z tym, co wirtualne. Stanowi przykład medium zdemasyfikowanego i choćby z tego względu jest wart badawczego zainteresowania. Autorka wykazuje, że powinien również stać się przedmiotem analiz humanistyki zaangażowanej. Podcasty TC bowiem nie tylko werbalizują i propagują określone postawy wobec przestępstw, ale także stanowią narzędzie krytyki społecznej. Cultural Theory and History: Innovation and Subjectivity

The book, divided into two chapters, is dedicated to the theme of social, historical and cultural change. Magdalena Kamińska focuses her attention on the relationship between technological innovation and socio-cultural change. Particularly, she discusses the cultural contexts and social conditions under which the innovation is able to cause the change. The chapter is based on the examples taken from media history. Olga Urban, then, concentrates on the role of the individual within the social and cultural processes of change. She focuses on the problem of human subjectivity, and analyzes different ways of conceptualizing these issues in selected fields of humanities and social sciences

Research Collaboration Patterns in Sustainable Mining – A Co-Authorship Analysis of Publications

This article quantitatively examines the patterns of collaborative research in the field of sustainable development of the mining sector. The study is based on bibliographic data of 4420 Scopus index research articles published in the period 1983–2018. Both trend and network analyses were employed in this investigation. The results show a rise in the number of joint articles and in the average number of the authors per joint article. Moreover, no increase in the relative numbers of interinstitutional, international, and cross-sector articles was observed. The collaborative efforts, in terms of the co-authorships, were taken mostly among authors affliated with the one sector—namely, science and research institutions. This indicates that funding agencies should foster more intensively the cross-sector research collaborations for sustainable mining. However, the most collaborative countries formed cross-continental clusters, thus indicating the global character of research collaboration for sustainable mining. This, in turn, can support solving mining issues with long-term implications, especially the impact of the mining industry on the environment

Herbs are well-known since ages and they have beneficial influence on human organism. Many herbal medicines appear on market at present time and they are being used in den-tistry also. Oral cavity is the first section of human gastrointestinal tract, where preliminary, mechanical treatment of food is placed and prepared for digestion. Oral cavity inflammation is ordered process that is developed in vascularized tissue under the influence of damaging factor. Oral mucosa inflammation can be manifested with following symptoms: pain, bleeding, swollen gum, stain on the tongue, aphthous, thrush, unpleasant smell from mouths (halitosis), increases production of saliva. Herbs which possess following proprieties: astringent, antiphlogistic, antibacterial (species such as sage, thyme, pepper-mint, camomile end other), are used in illnesses of oral cavity. Applying of phytotherapy in stomatitis was scientifically proved. Herbs act in gentle but effective way, so they are used as preventive measures.Zioła są znane od wieków, podobnie jak ich korzystny wpływ na organizm ludzki. Obecnie na rynku pojawia się wiele leków i preparatów roślinnych, które są wykorzystywane także w stomatologii. Jama ustna jest to początkowy odcinek przewodu pokarmowego człowieka, gdzie następuje wstępna, mechaniczna obróbka pokarmu i przygotowanie go do dalsze-go trawienia. Stan zapalny jamy ustnej jest uporządkowanym procesem rozwijającym się w tkance unaczynionej pod wpływem czynnika uszkadzającego. Do jego objawów można zaliczyć między innymi: ból, krwawienie, rozpulchnienie dziąseł, plamy na języku, afty, pleśniawki, nieprzyjemny zapach z ust (halitoza), zwiększoną produkcję śliny. W schorzeniach jamy ustnej zastosowanie mają przede wszystkim zioła o właściwościach ściągających, przeciwzapalnych i przeciwbakteryjnych, takie jak: szałwia lekarska, tymianek pospolity, mięta pieprzowa, rumianek pospolity i inne. Stosowanie fitoterapii w różnych schorzeniach jamy ustnej jest udowodnione naukowo. Zioła działają w sposób delikatny, ale skuteczny, w związku z czym świetnie sprawdzają się jako środki profilaktyczne

The structure of the spur nectary in Dendrobium finisterrae Schltr. (Dendrobiinae, Orchidaceae)

To date, the structure of the nectary spur of Dendrobium finisterrae has not been studied in detail, and the present paper compares the structural organization of the floral nectary in this species with the spurs of other taxa. The nectary spur of D. finisterrae was examined by means of light microscopy (LM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It is composed of a single layer of secretory epidermis and several layers of small and compactly arranged subepidermal secretory cells. The secretory cells have thick cellulosic cell walls with primary pits. The secretory tissue is supplied by vascular bundles that run beneath in ground parenchyma and are additionally surrounded by strands of sclerenchymatous fibers. The flowers of the investigated species displayed morphological features characteristic of bee-pollinated taxa, as they are zygomorphic, creamy-green coloured with evident nectar guides. They also emit a weak but nice scent. However, they possess some characters attributed to bird-pollinated flowers such as a short, massive nectary spur and collenchymatous secretory tissue that closely resembles the one found in the nectaries of certain species that are thought to be bird-pollinated. This similarity in anatomical organization of the nectary, regardless of geographical distribution and phylogeny, strongly indicates convergence and appears to be related to pollinator-driven selection
