Quantum Cosmology Aspects Of D3 Branes and Tachyon Dynamics
We investigate aspects of quantum cosmology in relation to string cosmology
systems that are described in terms of the Dirac-Born-Infeld action. Using the
Silverstein-Tong model, we analyze the Wheeler-DeWitt equation for the rolling
scalar and gravity as well for universe, by obtaining the wave
functions for all dynamical degrees of freedom of the system. We show, that in
some cases one can construct a time dependent version of the Wheeler-DeWitt
(WDW) equation for the moduli field . We also explore in detail the
minisuperspace description of the rolling tachyon when non-minimal gravity

De Sitter Gravity and Liouville Theory
We show that the spectrum of conical defects in three-dimensional de Sitter
space is in one-to-one correspondence with the spectrum of vertex operators in
Liouville conformal field theory. The classical conformal dimensions of vertex
operators are equal to the masses of the classical point particles in dS_3 that
cause the conical defect. The quantum dimensions instead are shown to coincide
with the mass of the Kerr-dS_3 solution computed with the Brown-York stress
tensor. Therefore classical de Sitter gravity encodes the quantum properties of
Liouville theory. The equality of the gravitational and the Liouville stress
tensor provides a further check of this correspondence. The Seiberg bound for
vertex operators translates on the bulk side into an upper mass bound for
classical point particles. Bulk solutions with cosmological event horizons
correspond to microscopic Liouville states, whereas those without horizons
correspond to macroscopic (normalizable) states. We also comment on recent
criticism by Dyson, Lindesay and Susskind, and point out that the
contradictions found by these authors may be resolved if the dual CFT is not
able to capture the thermal nature of de Sitter space. Indeed we find that on
the CFT side, de Sitter entropy is merely Liouville momentum, and thus has no

Linkage in mice of genes controlling an immunoglobulin kappa-chain marker and the surface alloantigen Ly-3 on T lymphocytes
Evidence obtained using recombinant inbred and congenic mouse strains has shown that the PC8 locus responsible for determining a marker on a single k chain in inbred mice is linked to the Ly - 2,3 locus on chromosome 6. The upper limit of the map distance between these loci is approximately three centimorgans. Risk profiles and one-year outcomes of patients with newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation in India: Insights from the GARFIELD-AF Registry.
BACKGROUND: The Global Anticoagulant Registry in the FIELD-Atrial Fibrillation (GARFIELD-AF) is an ongoing prospective noninterventional registry, which is providing important information on the baseline characteristics, treatment patterns, and 1-year outcomes in patients with newly diagnosed non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). This report describes data from Indian patients recruited in this registry. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 52,014 patients with newly diagnosed AF were enrolled globally; of these, 1388 patients were recruited from 26 sites within India (2012-2016). In India, the mean age was 65.8 years at diagnosis of NVAF. Hypertension was the most prevalent risk factor for AF, present in 68.5% of patients from India and in 76.3% of patients globally (P < 0.001). Diabetes and coronary artery disease (CAD) were prevalent in 36.2% and 28.1% of patients as compared with global prevalence of 22.2% and 21.6%, respectively (P < 0.001 for both). Antiplatelet therapy was the most common antithrombotic treatment in India. With increasing stroke risk, however, patients were more likely to receive oral anticoagulant therapy [mainly vitamin K antagonist (VKA)], but average international normalized ratio (INR) was lower among Indian patients [median INR value 1.6 (interquartile range {IQR}: 1.3-2.3) versus 2.3 (IQR 1.8-2.8) (P < 0.001)]. Compared with other countries, patients from India had markedly higher rates of all-cause mortality [7.68 per 100 person-years (95% confidence interval 6.32-9.35) vs 4.34 (4.16-4.53), P < 0.0001], while rates of stroke/systemic embolism and major bleeding were lower after 1 year of follow-up. CONCLUSION: Compared to previously published registries from India, the GARFIELD-AF registry describes clinical profiles and outcomes in Indian patients with AF of a different etiology. The registry data show that compared to the rest of the world, Indian AF patients are younger in age and have more diabetes and CAD. Patients with a higher stroke risk are more likely to receive anticoagulation therapy with VKA but are underdosed compared with the global average in the GARFIELD-AF. Typing of core and backbone domains of mucin-type oligosaccharides from human ovarian-cyst glycoproteins by 500-MHz 1H-NMR spectroscopy
Human blood-group A active glycoproteins from ovarian-cyst fluid were subjected to Smith degradation and subsequent beta-elimination. The resulting oligosaccharide-alditols represent the core and backbone domains of the O-linked carbohydrate chains. Nine of these, ranging in size from disaccharides to hexasaccharides, were investigated by 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Their primary structures could be adequately characterized. In particular, the core types, i.e. the substitution patterns of N-acetylgalactosaminitol (GalNAc-ol) as well as the types of backbone, i.e. the linkage types of alternating Gal-GlcNAc sequences, were unambiguously identified. The core type GlcNAc beta(1-3)GalNAc-ol is described for the first time as occurring in ovarian-cyst glycoprotein
