    Utility of apremilast in the treatment of psoriasis

    Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that affects more than one bodily system with predominantly skin and also joint manifestations affecting almost 2% of the world population that occurs primarily due to immune dysregulation. Apremilast is an oral, selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) enzymes. Inhibition of PDE-4 results in specific elevation of cAMP, an innately occurring intracellular secondary messenger that functions as a modulator of inflammatory responses. The drug is taken orally in strengths of 10, 20 and 30 mg. The drug may be a suitable alternative to different systemic therapies. Apremilast is a much-needed molecule for the treatment of psoriasis that is resistant to first line therapy and also useful in combination therapies

So the aim of this project is to display the power theft area of the distribution transformer and raise an alarm. Here for the practical purpose transformers, source energy meter, household load, energy meter are used for measuring real loads along with wired link.The power theft area of the distribution transformer at substation is obtained by calculating the real consuming power by the energy meter and the main power at the distribution transformer. That means the real consumption of all users must be equals to the total power delivered by the transformer. The difference must be analyzed by the controller by calculating both powers. If the difference is within 2 to 3% variation (transmission losses are concerned) the system raises no error otherwise it will generates error with an alarm and sends message along with transformer location information to the authority through GSM modem and displays in the corresponding substation along with alarm

    Reconfigurable Multi-Beam Dual-Band Antenna based on Vee Dipoles

    This paper presents a novel antenna configuration to support reconfigurable multi-beam feature with dual-band capability. The proposed design uses four double Vee dipoles with their arms printed on either sides of a substrate and fed through a single coaxial input probe. A single directional beam that can be configured in four directions at quadrature angle in the azimuth (xy-plane) and corresponding dual, triple and quad beams have been obtained by controlling the state of four PIN diodes. A prototype of the proposed antenna has been designed and fabricated. Measured antenna parameters are in good agreement with that of simulated parameters. This highly planar antenna shows similar radiation patterns at both design frequencies enabling concurrent dual-band communication for all fifteen possible beam configurations

    Background: The primary goal of sewage water treatment is to eliminate or bring down the number of pollutants in the sewage water. This study was needed to assess the efficacy of a sewage treatment plant in reducing contaminants levels to comply with government environmental standards. The wastewater re-use for irrigation approaches must be in compliance with the guidelines and indicators must be tracked and impended consistently, it is therefore essential to give top priority to requirements at the stage of evaluating and development to protect land and water supplies as well as public health. Methods: Chemical and biological approaches were used to regulate the removal efficiency of treatment plants. The performance and effectualness of the Vidyaranyapuram sewage treatment plant (STP) in Mysore are evaluated and analyzed in this report. Novelty: Water quality needs to be regularly checked in wastewater treatment facilities. The current study will aid the treatment facility in its efforts to enhance the process of treatment. One would be able to update the effluent efficiency levels depending on the seasonal variations in wastewater treatment as the assessment explains the number of water quality metrics in waste water plants. The obtained analysis results are very helpful in locating, fixing, and maintaining plant operating and maintenance issues, which may be helpful for next plant expansion to be carried out to get good results. Result: The STP\u27s treatment efficiencies were discovered to have a good treatment level in BOD (96%) and a moderate treatment quality in COD (79%) and TSS (75%) removal efficiency during the year 2018. Conclusion: To ensure correct operation and maintenance, trained and experienced workers must analyze treatment performance at predetermined time intervals. The result explains the quality of effluent water and performance of treatment plant. STPs should be used to their full potential to manage the quality of final effluent, and raw sewage sources should be identified

In public health, it can aid in disease surveillance, emergency response planning, and identifying health disparities. In infectious disease control, GeoAI can help predict and track disease outbreaks and support vaccination campaigns. In disaster aid, GeoAI can provide real time data on environmental hazards and their impact on public health. In achieving Sustainable Development Goals, it can support in land use planning, urban development, and resource allocation to promote health and environmental sustainability. Overall GeoAI has the potential to transform multiple sectors and improve the well-being of populations worldwide

    Modified carbon fabric electrodes: preparation and electrochemical behavior toward amaranth electrolysis

    The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10800-014-0769-9The electrochemical behavior of non-modified, Pt-modified, and Pt/polyaniline-modified carbon fiber textile electrodes was studied through a series of electrolyses, under potentiostatic conditions, on an amaranth/sulfuric solution in the presence or absence of chloride ion. The morphology of the dispersed Pt, PANI, and PANI/Pt coatings was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. Scanning electrochemical microscopy confirmed that the textile surface was effectively modified by the electrocatalytic material. Color removal reached values above 90 % in both electroreduction and electrooxidation processes. The amaranth electroreductions carried out with the non-modified electrode showed better charge efficiency than those with the Pt-modified textile electrode. The electrooxidations with Pt-modified textile electrodes showed a significant reduction in electrolysis time.     Cut-points for waist circumference in Europids and South Asians

    There is little strong evidence that currently recommended higher waist circumference cut-points for Europids compared with South Asians are associated with similar risk for type 2 diabetes. This study was designed to provide such evidence. Longitudinal studies over 5 years were conducted among 5,515 Europid and 2,214 ethnically South Asian participants. Age-standardized diabetes incidence at different levels of waist circumference and incidence difference relative to a reference value were calculated. The Youden Index was used to determine waist circumference cut-points. At currently recommended cut-points, estimated annual diabetes incidence for a 50-year-old Europid was &lt;0.6% for both sexes, and for a 50-year-old South Asian, 5.8% for men and 2.1% for women. Annual diabetes incidence of 1% was observed for a 50 year old at a waist circumference 35&ndash;40 cm greater in Europid compared to South Asian men and women. Incidence difference between recommended cut-points and a reference value (80 cm in men, 70 cm in women) was 0.3 and 4.4% per year for Europid and South Asian men, and 0.2 and 0.8% per year for Europid and South Asian women, respectively. Waist circumference cut-points chosen using the Youden Index were shown to be dependent on obesity levels in the population. The much higher observed risk of diabetes in South Asians compared to Europids at the respective recommended waist circumference cut-points suggests that differences between them should be greater. Approaches that use the Youden Index to select waist circumference cut-points are inappropriate and should not be used for this purpose.<br /

    Genome-Wide Linkage Scan to Identify Loci Associated with Type 2 Diabetes and Blood Lipid Phenotypes in the Sikh Diabetes Study

    In this investigation, we have carried out an autosomal genome-wide linkage analysis to map genes associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and five quantitative traits of blood lipids including total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol, and triglycerides in a unique family-based cohort from the Sikh Diabetes Study (SDS). A total of 870 individuals (526 male/344 female) from 321 families were successfully genotyped using 398 polymorphic microsatellite markers with an average spacing of 9.26 cM on the autosomes. Results of non-parametric multipoint linkage analysis using Sall statistics (implemented in Merlin) did not reveal any chromosomal region to be significantly associated with T2D in this Sikh cohort. However, linkage analysis for lipid traits using QTL-ALL analysis revealed promising linkage signals with p≤0.005 for total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol at chromosomes 5p15, 9q21, 10p11, 10q21, and 22q13. The most significant signal (p = 0.0011) occurred at 10q21.2 for HDL cholesterol. We also observed linkage signals for total cholesterol at 22q13.32 (p = 0.0016) and 5p15.33 (p = 0.0031) and for LDL cholesterol at 10p11.23 (p = 0.0045). Interestingly, some of linkage regions identified in this Sikh population coincide with plausible candidate genes reported in recent genome-wide association and meta-analysis studies for lipid traits. Our study provides the first evidence of linkage for loci associated with quantitative lipid traits at four chromosomal regions in this Asian Indian population from Punjab. More detailed examination of these regions with more informative genotyping, sequencing, and functional studies should lead to rapid detection of novel targets of therapeutic importance
