(R1500) Type-I Generalized Spherical Interval Valued Fuzzy Soft Sets in Medical Diagnosis for Decision Making

    Get PDF
In the present communication, we introduce the concept of Type-I generalized spherical interval valued fuzzy soft set and define some operations. It is a generalization of the interval valued fuzzy soft set and the spherical fuzzy soft set. The spherical interval valued fuzzy soft set theory satisfies the condition that the sum of its degrees of positive, neutral, and negative membership does not exceed unity and that these parameters are assigned independently. We also propose an algorithm to solve the decision making problem based on a Type-I generalized soft set model. We introduce a similarity measure based on the Type-I generalized soft set model for two Type-I generalized spherical interval valued fuzzy soft sets and discuss its application in a medical diagnosis problem. Illustrative examples are mentioned to show that they can be successfully used to solve problems with uncertainties

    Get PDF
AbstractThe incorporation of natural fibres such as sisal/jute with glass fiber composites has gained increasing applications both in many areas of Engineering and Technology. The aim of this study is to evaluate mechanical properties such as tensile and flexural properties of hybrid glass fiber-sisal/jute reinforced epoxy composites. Microscopic examinations are carried out to analyze the interfacial characteristics of materials, internal structure of the fractured surfaces and material failure morphology by using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The results indicated that the incorporation of sisal fiber with GFRP exhibited superior properties than the jute fiber reinforced GFRP composites in tensile properties and jute fiber reinforced GFRP composites performed better in flexural properties

DELAMINATION PREDICTION IN DRILLING OF CFRP COMPOSITES USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK

    Get PDF
Carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) materials play a major role in the applications of aeronautic, aerospace, sporting and transportation industries. Machining is indispensible and hence drilling of CFRP materials is considered in this present study with respect to spindle speed in rpm, drill size in mm and feed in mm/min. Delamination is one of the major defects to be dealt with. The experiments are carried out using computer numerical control machine and the results are applied to an artificial neural network (ANN) for the prediction of delamination factor at the exit plane of the CFRP material. It is found that ANN model predicts the delamination for any given set of machining parameters with a maximum error of 0.81% and a minimum error of 0.03%. Thus an ANN model is highly suitable for the prediction of delamination in CFRP materials

(R1509) TOPSIS and VIKOR Methods for Spherical Fuzzy Soft Set Aggregating Operator Framework

    Get PDF
The Spherical Fuzzy Soft (SFS) set is a generalization of the Pythagorean fuzzy soft set and the intuitionistic fuzzy soft set. We introduce the concept of aggregating SFS decision matrices based on aggregated operations. The techniques for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and viekriterijumsko kompromisno rangiranje (VIKOR) for the SFS approaches are the strong points of multi criteria group decision making (MCGDM), which is various extensions of fuzzy soft sets. We define a score function based on aggregating TOPSIS and VIKOR methods to the SFS-positive and SFS-negative ideal solutions. The TOPSIS and VIKOR methods provide decision-making weights. To find the optimal alternative under this condition, closeness is introduced. Also, we obtain an algorithm that deals with the MCGDM problems based on an aggregating operator. Finally, a numerical example of the MCGDM problem is given to verify the practicality of the aggregating operators

Abrasive water jet machining (AWJM) is extensively beneficial in machining materials that are hard to cut. This investigation deals with AWJM of Nano SiC filled Epoxy reinforced with basalt-glass fiber hybrid composite. The composite is prepared by compression moulding technique. Experimental trails are performed to evaluate the impact of every process parameter on the responses i.e., surface roughness (Ra) and Material Removal Rate (MRR). The experiments are conducted by changing the standoff distance (SD), traverse speed (TS) and water pressure. The performance of the conducted experiment is analysed using a Swarm intelligence algorithm. Surface roughness and MRR are maximized by using the combination of optimum process parameter levels of 9.72 mm/min speed, 5.78 mm stand-off distance and 553 MPa jet pressure. Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM) images are employed in detecting the morphology of machined surface and confirmed the presence of voids and fibre pull-out

Investigation on the Turning Parameters for Surface Roughness using Taguchi Analysis

One of the important interests in the machining is attaining better surface roughness as well as dimensional accuracy. Polymer materials are continuously displacing the conventional materials. Their machining behavior is different in many aspects from machining of conventional metallic materials. Polymer based composite materials have superior properties for mechanical strength and stiffness, such as high strength-to-weight ratio and high stiffness-to-weight ratio. Fiber reinforced polymer composite materials are the one which are produced closer to the required shape, further machining is often necessary to achieve expected surface characteristics. This experimental study targets the machining of carbon fiber reinforced polymer material made into the form of tube. It examines various process parameters such as cutting speed, feed and depth of cut and their importance in deciding the surface roughness. Surface roughness was measured after machining is carried out under specified machining conditions. This experimental study focuses on the prediction of machining parameters that yield better surface characteristics in order to avoid machining of hard materials such as fiber reinforced composite materials so that enormous money spent in machining could be saved to some extent. For prediction this experimental study makes use of response surface methodology. The Taguchi method is used to solve many engineering problems. This work uses the Taguchi's orthogonal array method to find out the number of experiments to be carried out for turning operations. Also the analysis of variance is used to investigate the cutting parameters. In addition to the optimal cutting parameters for turning operations, the main cutting parameter that affect the cutting performance in turning operations could be found out

Evaluation of a suitable material for soft actuator through experiments and FE Simulations

Soft actuators are generally built to achieve extension, contraction, curling, or bending motions needed for robotic or medical applications. It is prepared with a cylindrical tube, braided with fibers that restrict the radial motion and produce the extension, contraction, or bending. The actuation is achieved through the input of compressed air with a different pressure. The stiffness of the materials controls the magnitude of the actuation. In the present study, Silastic-P1 silicone RTV and multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) with reinforced silicone are considered for the evaluation. The dumbbell samples are prepared from both materials as per ASTM D412-06a (ISO 37) standard and their corresponding tensile strength, elongation at break, and tensile modulus are measured. The Ogden nonlinear material constants of respective materials are estimated and used further in the finite element analysis of extension, contraction, and bending soft actuators. It is observed that silicone RTV is better in high strain and fast response, whereas, silicone/MWCNT is better at achieving high actuation

1179-1182Titanium and its alloys are widely used owing to their high strength-to-weight ratio, good tensile strength, and resistance to corrosion. The Ti6Al4V alloy is called the workhorse among the titanium alloys owing to its wide application. Even though the Ti6Al4V alloy is immune to corrosion, improper welding conditions lead to contamination, making the weldments prone to stress corrosion cracking (SCC). These weldments are susceptible to SCC if they show sensitivity to pitting. This study examines the effect of welding conditions on the pitting corrosion behavior of 3 mm thick plates of Ti6Al4V alloy. The Ti6Al4V weldments were fabricated using fusion welding methods, namely, the gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and laser beam welding (LBW) techniques. The pitting corrosion studies were carried out by a potentiodynamic polarization technique, using non-deaerated 3.5% NaCl solution of pH 7, to create a marine corrosion environment. The pitting corrosion studies yielded good results as there was corrosion resistance in weldments fabricated under controlled conditions
