Tissue optical clearing as a diagnostic tool for tissue pathology differentiation
With the objective of developing a diagnostic tool
Has HERA reached a new QCD regime?
These notes are a summary of our efforts to answer the question in the title.
Our answer is in the affirmative as: (i) HERA data indicate a large value of
the gluon structure function; (ii) no contradictions with the asymptotic
predictions of high density QCD have been observed; and (iii) the numerical
estimates of our model give a natural description of the size of deviation from
the routine DGLAP explanation. We discuss the alternative approaches and

Higher twists and maxima for DIS on nuclei in high density QCD region
We show that the ratio of different structure functions have a maximum which
depends on and . We argue that these maxima are proportional to the
saturation scale. The analysis of leading and higher twist contributions for
different observables is given with the aim of determining the kinematic region

Theoretical Overview Quark Matter '04
The much wider transverse-momentum range accessible in heavy-ion collisions
at RHIC and at the LHC allows us to disentangle the dynamics of partonic
equilibration from the dynamics of delayed hadronization. This provides a novel
tool for testing the equilibration mechanisms underlying QCD thermodynamics.
Here, I argue, on the basis of simple formation-time arguments, why this is so,

Thermal Dileptons at LHC
We predict dilepton invariant-mass spectra for central 5.5 ATeV Pb-Pb
collisions at LHC. Hadronic emission in the low-mass region is calculated using
in-medium spectral functions of light vector mesons within hadronic many-body
theory. In the intermediate-mass region thermal radiation from the Quark-Gluon
Plasma, evaluated perturbatively with hard-thermal loop corrections, takes
over. An important source over the entire mass range are decays of correlated
open-charm hadrons, rendering the nuclear modification of charm and bottom

Cronin Effect and High-p_T Suppression in pA Collisions
We review the predictions of the theory of Color Glass Condensate for gluon
production cross section in p(d)A collisions. We demonstrate that at moderate
energies, when the gluon production cross section can be calculated in the
framework of McLerran-Venugopalan model, it has only partonic level Cronin
effect in it. At higher energies/rapidities corresponding to smaller values of
Bjorken x quantum evolution becomes important. The effect of quantum evolution
at higher energies/rapidities is to introduce suppression of high-p_T gluons
slightly decreasing the Cronin enhancement. At still higher energies/rapidities
quantum evolution leads to suppression of produced gluons at all values of p_T.Comment: 32 pages, 8 figures, v2: extended and improved discussion, references
