Purpose: The article aims to identify the features of digital techniques introduction and functioning in the insurance industry and the social insurance system. The information techniques used allows to quickly and with the best results to process large amounts of data, thereby increasing the efficiency of all the spheres to reduce social and commercial risks.
Design/Methodology/Approach: In order to substantiate introducing the digital techniques expediency in the activity of the insurance system, it is necessary, first, to consider the advantages and disadvantages of information techniques use in the commercial and social insurance. Second, to describe the main digital programs, the implementation of which will increase the targeting and personalization of insurance services.
Findings: For the digital techniques introduction in the sphere of insurance relations it is necessary to form the wholly new structure of insurance assets that meet the priorities of the digital economy; to create the necessary conditions for the development and implementation of modern actuarial techniques; to create conditions for increasing incomes and the life standard of the population in order to stimulate demand for insurance services; to change the structure and quality of social services.
Practical implications: The results of the study can be implemented in the practice of social funds and insurance companies in order to improve the quality of insurance services.
Originality/value: The main contribution of this research is to transfer the processes and mechanisms for the global digital economy and global digital space formation to the social and insurance relations.peer-reviewe
The concept of special escrow accounts to improve mortgage housing loans in Russia
Purpose: The article aims to identify and evaluate the key determinants of improving mortgage lending in Russia. Increasing the participation of financial institutions in the application of escrow accounts is of paramount importance in terms of fine-tuning the process of improving mortgage lending in Russia.
Design/Methodology/Approach: In order to further improve housing mortgage lending, it seems necessary: firstly, to identify new opportunities that contribute to the development of a system of interaction between credit and financial organizations and borrowers in terms of using the innovative functions of escrow accounts; secondly, to highlight the functions, during the application of which the increase in the efficiency of the escrow account mechanism will be optimal; thirdly, to formulate recommendations on the implementation of the necessary changes in the process of applying escrow accounts, taking into account the peculiarities of mortgage lending in Russia.
Findings: To fully take into account the potential impact of special escrow accounts on the process of interaction between the lender and the borrower, an additional escrow account functionality was developed, aimed at improving mortgage lending.
Practical Implications: The results of the study can be put into practice in order to expand the range of escrow account functions used in the process of mortgage lending in Russia.
Originality/Value: The main contribution of this study is the emphasis on the need to introduce innovative approaches to increase the functionality of escrow accounts used in the process of mortgage lending in Russia.peer-reviewe
Extended use of Sphagnum peat as a biosorbent for Zn(II): repetiti ous sorption-desorption process
ArticleIn this study,
continuous biosorption
-
desorption cycles in a fixed
-
bed column were
performed to evaluate the extended use of sphagnum peat as biosorbent material to remove Zn(II)
ions from aqueous solutions. Biosorption
-
desorption studies revealed that the sphagnum peat
as
biosorbent could be regenerated using 0.1M HCl as eluting agent with more than 70% recovery
in four successive biosorption
-
desorption cycles. The results showed that the sphagnum peat
should be used as an alternative, effective and low
-
cost biosorbent
for Zn(II) ions removal from

Simultaneous nutrient and organic matter removal from wastewater by aerobic granular sludge process
Received: February 1st, 2023 ; Accepted: June 16th, 2023 ; Published: July 2nd, 2023 ; Correspondence: [email protected] granular sludge (AGS) technology offers several benefits, such as
simultaneous removal of nutrients and organic matter from wastewater, stronger granule
structure, excellent settleability, and high resistance to toxicity. However, the formation of
granules can take a long time and needs to be dense and stable.
In this study, the formation of aerobic granules in sequencing batch reactors (SBRs) using a
granular activated carbon (GAC) and aluminium sulphate coagulant were evaluated for the
simultaneous removal of nutrient (phosphorus (TP) and nitrogen (TN)) and organic matter
(chemical oxygen demand (COD)) from wastewater. The reactors were continuously operated for
107 days and were fed with synthetic media and real domestic sewage. However, adaptation
process with the synthetic wastewater led to relatively slow granulation process (sedimentation
rate of sludge flocks was 3 m h-1
). During the experiments, there was no visible formation of
granules in SBRs based on the analysis of the sludge samples, only the formation of aggregate
structures similar to flocks. However, the results showed that total phosphorus (TP) removal
efficiency was over 90% in SBR operated with aluminium sulphate. However, COD and total
nitrogen (TN) removals were higher in GAC SBR, 75% and 10%, respectively. Thus, even if
granules are not developed yet, the system is working efficiently. The results of this study could
be useful in the development of AGS technology for full-scale wastewater treatment plant
Comparison of phosphorus removal efficiency of conventional activated sludge system and sequencing batch reactors in a wastewater treatment plant
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness application of sequencing batch
reactors (SBRs) for phosphorus removal compared to the conventional activated sludge (CAS)
treatment system. The results showed that the removal efficiency of phosphorus reached about
99% at wastewater treatment plant with CAS system. At the same time, the maximum phosphorus
removal efficiency can be achieved to 88% if the SBRs system operating parameters are
optimized. Finally, this study demonstrated that even if granules are not fully developed, the SBR
system is working with a good efficiency

Evaluating the Use of Persuasive Design Cards for Novice Designers
This paper examines the use of physical persuasive cards for novice designers in ideation sessions. Through experimental study, we found that the tools a designer uses affects the kind of outcome they will get. The observations from four workshop sessions indicate that persuasive cards can be a two-edged sword, as they can affect the design process both positively and negatively.
Additionally, in this paper, certain insights are highlighted when it came to how novice designers interacted with the cards. One of the most interesting behaviors witnessed was how participants were depending on the cards while debating their own ideas, and in some situations, neglecting their own or their colleagues’ ideas as they believed the cards knew better.
Moreover, this study was able to report “The Commonality Effect” as a new finding, as session outcomes from with-card teams showed a higher rate of repetitiveness and commonality in the persuasive ideas.
This paper provides 10 design card heuristics that can be used as a guideline when it comes to producing and evaluating card-based tools
Management of wastewater from landfill of inorganic fiberglass
ArticleSustainability is one of the key factors in smart environment management and include
the reduction of environment footprint. The waste and wastewater management plans are aimed
on actions to reduce the amount of waste and environmental pollution. This includes collection
of waste, logistics, storage, processing or valorisation and also treatment. The aim of this research
was to evaluate environmental pollution risk and to demonstrate one of the wastewater
management schemes to reduce the pollution level.
Evaluation of the better management scheme was performed in one of the landfills in Latvia,
where fiberglass waste and other inorganic waste is stored. Onsite evaluation results demonstrated
the need to develop a better wastewater management scheme of inorganic fiberglass landfill.
After that, laboratory–scale experiments for conventional coagulation and biodegradation tests
have been performed for efficient management
Organization of project activities in the system of advanced training of teachers
Project activity occupies an important place in the system of professional development. Focused on a rapidly changing environment, it provides the widest opportunities for innovative development of the field of additional education. The implementation of project activities allows you to form important for students of courses, leading decisions in the context of global educational competition and high uncertainty of the educational environment. The purpose of the article is to study the experience of organizing project activities in the system of professional development of teachers. Project activity is a joint educational creative activity of course participants that has a common goal and agreed methods to achieve it. The article reveals the experience of project activities of students in the framework of the course "Management in education". In the process of implementing project activities, the project competence of students is formed. Project activity occupies an important place in the system of professional development. Its implementation allows you to radically change the entire learning process, make it active, creative and independent.
