On equilibrium existence in infinite horizon economies

    Get PDF
In sequential economies with finite or infinite-lived real assets in positive net supply, we introduce constraints on the amount of borrowing in terms of the market value of physical endowments. We show that, when utility functions are either unbounded and separable in states of nature or separable in commodities, these borrowing constraints not only preclude Ponzi schemes but also induce endogenous Radner bounds on short-sales. Therefore, we obtain existence of equilibrium. Moreover, equilibrium also exists when both assets are numerarie and utility functions are quasilinear in the commodity used as numerarie.Equilibrium, Infinite horizon incomplete markets, Infinite-lived real assets.

Functional analysis of stress protein data in a flor yeast subjected to a biofilm forming condition

    Get PDF
AbstractIn this data article, an OFFGEL fractionator coupled to LTQ Orbitrap XL MS equipment and a SGD filtering were used to detect in a biofilm-forming flor yeast strain, the maximum possible number of stress proteins under the first stage of a biofilm formation conditions (BFC) and under an initial stage of fermentation used as reference, so-called non-biofilm formation condition (NBFC). Protein functional analysis – based on cellular components and biological process GO terms – was performed for these proteins through the SGD Gene Ontology Slim Mapper tool. A detailed analysis and interpretation of the data can be found in “Stress responsive proteins of a flor yeast strain during the early stages of biofilm formation” [1]

This article analyses the recent development of the periphery in Madrid within the context of Aldo Rossi’s seminal book The Architecture of the City. The objective of this article is to emphasise the importance and relevance of Rossi’s work within today’s context, and to highlight his work as a tool with which to understand the current peripheral developments across Europe. Secondly, the article examines some of the challenges left by Rossi’s work and looks at some of the critical work undertaken since the 1960’s.This is followed by a more specific look at the work of the most recent theorists working within the context of Madrid itself ( Abalos & Herreros) and considers them in light of Rossi’s work. The article finally tests this theoretical approach (theory) before looking at the (project) most recent development in the northern periphery of Madrid (2008-2017). The article concludes with some insights into the application of Rossi’s work today and highlights the current relevance of his work in relation to the continuing peripheral developments across Europe. Critically, the article is structured around the importance of the relationship between theory and project, as this tension was critical to the group La Tendenza, to which Rossi himself belonged.

The genesis of the craft center of Lorca, by JA. Molina Serrano, 1985-1988: a buried place

[EN] Around 1980 in Spain, awareness of the protection of historical heritage came to the fore. In the middle of the decade, politics became interested in popular culture and, in the case of the Region of Murcia, three cultural centres for the promotion of traditions were planned. The first was the Lorca Craft Centre (1985-1988), by Juan Antonio Molina Serrano, which was located in the historic centre of Lorca. The text traces the genesis and execution of this unique museum -a hybrid between exhibition, commercial and teaching space- built with exposed concrete. The urban context conditioned the first decision to bury the building so that its presence would not compete with the pre-existing monuments by materialising outside as a landscaped plaza. The strategies followed (dark cave -light-, itinerant vision -ramps- and material unity -concrete-) are revealed here in order to ensure that the exhibition space for the handcrafted objects, arranged inside a grotto of 'artificial stone' -buried and lit from above-, would show an introspective character impregnated with references to modernity by understanding the Centre as a place for all the senses where the concrete precipitates a return to the origins.[ES] Hacia 1980 en España la conciencia sobre la protección del legado histórico pasó a primer plano. Martínez Medina, A.; Moreno Ortolano, J. First Proteomic Approach to Identify Cell Death Biomarkers in Wine Yeasts during Sparkling Wine Production

    Get PDF
Apoptosis and later autolysis are biological processes which take place in Saccharomyces cerevisiae during industrial fermentation processes, which involve costly and time-consuming aging periods. Therefore, the identification of potential cell death biomarkers can contribute to the creation of a long-term strategy in order to improve and accelerate the winemaking process. Here, we performed a proteomic analysis based on the detection of possible apoptosis and autolysis protein biomarkers in two industrial yeast strains commonly used in post-fermentative processes (sparkling wine secondary fermentation and biological aging) under typical sparkling wine elaboration conditions. Pressure had a negatively effect on viability for flor yeast, whereas the sparkling wine strain seems to be more adapted to these conditions. Flor yeast strain experienced an increase in content of apoptosis-related proteins, glucanases and vacuolar proteases at the first month of aging. Significant correlations between viability and apoptosis proteins were established in both yeast strains. Multivariate analysis based on the proteome of each process allowed to distinguish among samples and strains. The proteomic profile obtained in this study could provide useful information on the selection of wine strains and yeast behavior during sparkling wine elaboration. Additionally, the use of flor yeasts for sparkling wine improvement and elaboration is proposed
