    Identificación del documento de acuerdo al código del cuadro de clasificación documental: caso Universidad Politécnica Salesiana del Ecuador

    Ante la falta de una cultura archivística en una organización, los documentos realizan una tramitación interna sin tener un control o conocer a qué proceso pertenece, de igual manera la terminología se desconoce confundiendo “conservar” como incorporar los documentos en una carpeta, folder, sobre y ubicarlos en algún espacio físico a la espera del personal que trabaja en un Archivo. La Universidad Politécnica Salesiana en su ambiente organizacional apuesta para que el documento desde su creación tenga consignado una identificación de acuerdo al código del cuadro de clasificación documental. El código estará reflejado en todo el proceso administrativo y académico con la compañía de una estructura alfanumérica que permita agruparlos bajo un mismo número de trámite o asunto. El incorporar el código y la estructura alfanumérica permitirá que el personal ordene la documentación de acuerdo a la estructura dada en el Cuadro de Clasificación Documental

    Influence of the electric field on the latent heat of the ferroelectric phase transition in KDP

    The specific heat, heat flux (DTA trace) and dielectric constant of KDP ferroelectric crystal have been measured simultaneously for various electric fields with a conduction calorimeter. The specific heat presents a strong anomaly but these simultaneous measurements allow us to evaluate the latent heat accurately. Latent heat decreases with field and the value of critical electric field --that where latent heat disappears-- is estimated to be (0.44\pm0.03) kV/cm. Incidentally, we have measured simultaneously the dielectric permittivity which suggests that latent heat is developed as domains are growing.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures, ReVTeX, twocolumn format, to appear in J.     [EN] Nucleic acid microarray-based assay technology has shown lacks in reproducibility, reliability, and analytical sensitivity. Here, a new strategy of probe attachment modes for silicon-based materials is built up. Thus, hybridization ability is enhanced by combining thiol-ene or thiol-yne click chemistry reactions with a multipoint attachment of polythiolated probes. The viability and performance of this approach was demonstrated by specifically determining Salmonella PCR products up to a 20 pM sensitivity level.The authors thank Dr. Elena Pinilla for her helpful discussion about AFM results.     Characterization of the different behaviours exhibited by juvenile flathead grey mullet (Mugil cephalus Linnaeus, 1758) under rearing conditions

    Aim of study: To describe the common behaviour of flathead grey mullet (Mugil cephalus) under rearing conditions. Area of study: Tepic, Mexico. Material and methods: Behaviours exhibited by mullets were videorecorded with submersible cameras installed inside of three tanks. A total of 690 min per day (07:30 - 18:30 h) were recorded per tank during a week. Afterwards, the different behaviours exhibited by juvenile M. cephalus were described, identified and characterized in an ethogram and grouped into two categories: a) locomotion, including three different observed behaviours (resting, swimming and fast swimming) and b) feeding, including three behaviours (surface feeding, bottom feeding and rubbing). Each of the behavioural variables were quantified. Main results: M. cephalus is a species with a constant locomotion associated to feeding, since fish showed continuous movement during most of day light period. On the contrary, fish exhibited reduced movement during dark periods. Mullets were observed to be a non-aggressive fish species under conditions of the present study, since the absence of dominance and aggression towards conspecifics was observed, which suggested a high predisposition for adaptation to captivity. Finally, behavioural frequencies of grey mullet juveniles were similar among the three tanks for most of the behavioural variables analysed (p>0.05) except for the variable bottom feeding (p=0.02).     Hemorrhagic shock primes for increased expression of cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant in the lung: role in pulmonary inflammation following lipopolysaccharide

    Q2Q1440-447Recent studies have suggested that hemorrhagic shock followed by resuscitation renders patients more susceptible to lung injury by priming for an exaggerated response to a second stimulus, the so-called "two-hit" hypothesis. We investigated the role of C-X-C chemokines in mediating the augmented lung inflammation in response to LPS following resuscitated shock. In a rodent model, animals exposed to antecedent shock exhibited enhanced lung neutrophil sequestration and transpulmonary albumin flux in response to intratracheal LPS. This effect correlated with an exaggerated expression of cytokine-induced neutrophil chemoattractant (CINC) protein and mRNA, but not macrophage-inflammatory protein 2. Strategies designed to inhibit CINC, both anti-CINC Ab and supplementation with the antioxidant N-acetyl-cysteine, prevented the enhanced neutrophil sequestration, suggesting that CINC played a central role in the enhanced leukocyte accumulation following shock plus LPS treatment. Shock alone increased lung nuclear factor-kappaB expression and augmented the response to LPS. Prevention of this effect by N-acetylcysteine supplementation of the resuscitation fluid implicates a role for oxidant stress in the priming for lung inflammation following shock. Finally, alveolar macrophages recovered from shock-resuscitated animals released more CINC protein in vitro in response to LPS than macrophages from sham animals. Considered together, these findings show that augmented release of CINC, in part from primed alveolar macrophages, contributes significantly to the enhanced lung leukosequestration and transpulmonary albumin flux in response to LPS following resuscitated shock

    Genetic polymorphisms located in TGFB1, AGTR1, and VEGFA genes are associated to chronic renal allograft dysfunction

    Background: Persistent inflammation and fibrosis have been related to active progression of renal deterioration and reduced survival of kidney transplant. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) located in regions related to inflammatory and immune processes on the development of chronic renal allograft dysfunction (CRAD). Methods: A retrospective study was carried out on 276 patients who received kidney transplant (KT). SNPs were genotyped via the SNPlex platform. Statistical analysis was performed with SNPstat and regression logistic analyses were adjusted by age and gender of recipients and donors, cold ischemia time and the number of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) mismatches. Results: From 276 patients with KT, 118 were non-CRAD and 158 were CRAD. Three SNPs showed significant associations with CRAD development: rs1800471 in transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFB1), rs5186 in angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AGTR1), and rs699947 in vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA). GC genotype of rs1800471 was associated with increased odds of CRAD compared to GG genotype (OR=2.65 (95% confidence interval (CI)=1.09; 6.47), p=0.025), as well as AC and AA genotype of rs699947 assuming a dominant model (OR=1.80 (95% CI=1.02; 3.20), p=0.044). Besides, AC and CC genotypes of rs5186 were associated with reduced odds of CRAD assuming a dominant model (OR=0.56 (95% CI=0.33; 0.96), p=0.033). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that three genes related to immunity and inflammation (rs1800471, rs5186 and rs699947) are associated to susceptibility or protection to CRAD, and might have diagnostic utility in predicting the likelihood of developing CRAD.This work was supported by two Grants from Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Ref: PI08/0738 and PI11/00245) and from Junta de Castilla y León (Ref: GRS 234/A/08).     High serum levels of tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-1 during the first week of a malignant middle cerebral artery infarction in non-surviving patients

    Background: Higher circulating levels of tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMP)-1 early after ischemic stroke have been associated with lower survival. The objectives of this study were to determine serum TIMP-1 levels during the first week of a severe cerebral infarction in surviving and non-surviving patients, and whether those levels during the first week could be used as a mortality biomarker for these patients. Methods: We included patients with severe malignant middle cerebral artery infarction (MMCAI) defined as computer tomography showing ischaemic changes in more than 50% of the middle cerebral artery territory and Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) ≤ 8. We measured serum levels of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)-9 and TIMP-1. End-point study was 30-day mortality. Results: We found higher TIMP-1 concentrations at days 1 (p < 0.001), 4 (p = 0.001), and 8 (p = 0.03) of MMCAI in nonurviving (n = 34) than in surviving (n = 34) patients. We found lower serum MMP-9 concentrations at day 1 (p = 0.03) of MMCAI and no significant differences at days 4 and 8. ROC curve analysis of TIMP-1 concentrations performed at days 1, 4, and 8 of MMCAI showed an area under curve to predict 30-day mortality of 81% (p < 0.001), 80% (p < 0.001) and 72% (p = 0.07) respectively. Conclusions: The new findings of our study were that non-surviving MMCAI patients showed higher serum TIMP-1 levels during the first week of MMCAI that surviving patients, and those levels during the first week of MMCAI could be used as mortality biomarkers
