E-Democracy and Knowledge. A Multicriteria Framework for the New Democratic Era

    Get PDF
This paper analyses a new framework for decision-making in e-democracies that exploits the power of Internet based public knowledge, which is called briefly e-cognocracy. This is not a procedure to improve technical aspects using the Internet (e.g. e-voting); it is rather a procedure to add a new quality to the democratic system by using the network. This proposed system of e-cognocracy would allow those who are interested to solve highly complex problems by participatory decision-making. Furthermore, we suggest the multicriteria framework for the modelling and resolution of such complex problems. Similarly, using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach, we propose decisional (analytic and informatic) tools for searching the knowledge - relevant for the decision-making process. This knowledge of patterns of behaviour, trends, opportunities, decisions and stylised facts will be the starting point of a consensus-reaching process, which is aimed to effectively solve problems of high complexity of the Internet society.E-democracy, Knowledge society, E-cognocracy, Multicriteria, AHP criterion, Consensus

Boundary value problems for second order linear difference equations: application to the computation of the inverse of generalized Jacobi matrices

    Get PDF
We have named generalized Jacobi matrices to those that are practically tridiagonal, except for the two final entries and the two first entries of its first andits last row respectively. This class of matrices encompasses both standard Jacobiand periodic Jacobi matrices that appear in many contexts in pure and appliedmathematics. Therefore, the study of the inverse of these matrices becomes ofspecific interest. However, explicit formulas for inverses are known only in a fewcases, in particular when the coefficients of the diagonal entries are subjected tosome restrictions. We will show that the inverse of generalized Jacobi matrices can be raisedin terms of the resolution of a boundary value problem associated with a secondorder linear difference equation. In fact, recent advances in the study of lineardifference equations, allow us to compute the solution of this kind of boundaryvalue problems. So, the conditions that ensure the uniqueness of the solution ofthe boundary value problem leads to the invertibility conditions for the matrix, whereas that solutions for suitable problems provide explicitly the entries of theinverse matrix.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Explicit inverse of a tridiagonal (p,r)-Toeplitz matrix

We have named tridiagonal (p,r)–Toeplitz matrix to those tridiagonal matrices in which each diagonal is a quasi–periodic sequence, d(p+j)=rd(j), so with period pÂżN but multiplied by a real number r. We present here the necessary and sufficient conditions for the invertibility of this kind of matrices and explicitly compute their inverse. The techniques we use are related with the solution of boundary value problems associated to second order linear difference equations. These boundary value problems can be expressed throughout the discrete Schrödinger operator and their solutions can be computed using recent advances in the study of linear difference equations with quasi–periodic coefficients. The conditions that ensure the uniqueness solution of the boundary value problem lead us to the invertibility conditions for the matrix, whereas the solutions of the boundary value problems provides the entries of the inverse matrix.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Prevention of antisocial behaviors in sport: Design of dynamics in the MĂĄlaga female water polo.

This project focuses on the interest in competitive sports, practiced in an organized manner and with expectations of continuation and/or success over the years. The prevention and fight against antisocial behaviors and intolerance in sport is a historical concern of the institutions and education has been considered to be the key element of readjustment, turning it into an end and also a means to correctly develop the spirit sports. A fundamental piece of education in sport is the figure of the coaches. The Club Deportivo Water Polo MĂĄlaga offers an innovative vision of training in sports values, including a gender perspective, being the first water polo club in Andalusia that managed to have women's teams in all categories. The general objective of the first part of the exploratory pilot study is to pass four measurement instruments, which respectively incorporate a questionnaire for female water polo players at the Club Deportivo Water Polo MĂĄlaga; an interview for coaches; another for referees and another for families. Other interests pursued as specific objectives were added to this claim: Obtain information about antisocial behaviors and its consequences; To know to what extent competitiveness/pressure can lead to violent behavior in the players. Assess the role of trainers Assess the role of referees Appreciate the role of the family Develop some prevention indicators (help prosocial behaviors) In the second part of the work, the objective is to develop a dynamic of action that is consistent with the results obtained in the first part of the work. A tangible and plural dynamic that stimulates prosocial behaviors (TPPD) will be designed, and changes and/or adjustments will be made to the TPPD according to the various categories, to offer ad hoc answers according to the age of the players.Universidad de MĂĄlaga. We present here the necessary and sufficient conditions for the invertibility of tridiagonal matrices, commonly named Jacobi matrices, and explicitly compute their inverse. The techniques we use are related with the solution of Sturm–Liouville boundary value problems associated to second order linear difference equations. These boundary value problems can be expressed throughout a discrete Schrödinger operator and their solutions can be computed using recent advances in the study of linear difference equations. The conditions that ensure the uniqueness solution of the boundary value problem lead us to the invertibility conditions for the matrix, whereas the solutions of the boundary value problems provide the entries of the inverse matrixPeer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Validation of the tangible and plural prosocial dynamic (tppd) “the color mirror” in the children®s sports environment

Prevención conductas antisociales deporte infantilThis study defines the design and validation of the Tangible and Plural Prosocial Dynamic (TPPD) “The color mirror” in the children®s sports environment. TPPD is a tool that can contribute to prevent antisocial behaviours in sports and in other areas of child coexistence. This dynamic has been created by the Work group on Criminology and Sport of the Institute of Criminology of the University of Malaga. After collecting information from a sample of coaches, families, and kids from football clubs in Málaga and analysing the results, an integrative dynamic was developed that could give an answer to what was said by different groups involved. “The color mirror” is a suggestive dynamic of participation and commitment that symbolizes the relevance of care among the members of the community through the play. After implementing the aforementioned tool in two soccer benjamin teams (7 to 9 years old), belonging to Malaga clubs, data was collected to proceed with its validation. The work of the coaches has been key in the implementation of the dynamic, being able to develop their educational skills even more through it and to achieve that the kids learn playing.Universidad de Málaga.
