    Robust Stereoscopic Crosstalk Prediction

    We propose a new metric to predict perceived crosstalk using the original images rather than both the original and ghosted images. The proposed metrics are based on color information. First, we extract a disparity map, a color difference map, and a color contrast map from original image pairs. Then, we use those maps to construct two new metrics (Vdispc and Vdlogc). Metric Vdispc considers the effect of the disparity map and the color difference map, while Vdlogc addresses the influence of the color contrast map. The prediction performance is evaluated using various types of stereoscopic crosstalk images. By incorporating Vdispc and Vdlogc, the new metric Vpdlc is proposed to achieve a higher correlation with the perceived subject crosstalk scores. Experimental results show that the new metrics achieve better performance than previous methods, which indicate that color information is one key factor for crosstalk visible prediction. Furthermore, we construct a new data set to evaluate our new metrics

    Real-time superpixel segmentation by DBSCAN clustering algorithm

    In this paper, we propose a real-time image superpixel segmentation method with 50 frames/s by using the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) algorithm. In order to decrease the computational costs of superpixel algorithms, we adopt a fast two-step framework. In the first clustering stage, the DBSCAN algorithm with color-similarity and geometric restrictions is used to rapidly cluster the pixels, and then, small clusters are merged into superpixels by their neighborhood through a distance measurement defined by color and spatial features in the second merging stage. A robust and simple distance function is defined for obtaining better superpixels in these two steps. The experimental results demonstrate that our real-time superpixel algorithm (50 frames/s) by the DBSCAN clustering outperforms the state-of-the-art superpixel segmentation methods in terms of both accuracy and efficiency

    Fine-grained data access control with attribute-hiding policy for cloud-based IoT

However, in the existing CP-ABE schemes, the access policy is either appended to the ciphertext explicitly or only partially hidden against public visibility, which results in privacy leakage of the underlying ciphertext and potential recipients. In this paper, we propose a fine-grained data access control scheme supporting expressive access policy with fully attribute hidden for cloud-based IoT. Specifically, the attribute information is fully hidden in access policy by using randomizable technique, and a fuzzy attribute positioning mechanism based on garbled Bloom filter is developed to help the authorized recipients locate their attributes efficiently and decrypt the ciphertext successfully. Security analysis and performance evaluation demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves effective policy privacy preservation with low storage and computation overhead. As a result, no valuable attribute information in the access policy will be disclosed to the unauthorized recipients

    Estimation of cancer incidence and mortality attributable to alcohol drinking in china

    Background. Cancer constitutes a serious burden of disease worldwide and has become the second leading cause of death in China. Alcohol consumption is causally associated with the increased risk of certain cancers. Due to the current lack of data and the imperative need to guide policymakers on issues of cancer prevention and control, we aim to estimate the role of alcohol on the cancer burden in China in 2005. Methods. We calculated the proportion of cancers attributable to alcohol use to estimate the burden of alcohol-related cancer. The population attributable fraction was calculated based on the assumption of no alcohol drinking. Data on alcohol drinking prevalence were from two large-scale national surveys of representative samples of the Chinese population. Data on relative risk were obtained from meta-analyses and large-scale studies. Results. We found that a total of 78,881 cancer deaths were attributable to alcohol drinking in China in 2005, representing 4.40% of all cancers (6.69% in men, 0.42% in women). The corresponding figure for cancer incidence was 93,596 cases (3.63% of all cancer cases). Liver cancer was the main alcohol-related cancer, contributing more than 60% of alcohol-related cancers. Conclusions.     Fuel consumption and exhaust emissions of diesel vehicles in worldwide harmonized light vehicles test cycles and their sensitivities to eco-driving factors

    Large amounts of fossil fuels are 14 consumed by motor vehicles annually, and hazardous exhaust emissions from the motor vehicles have caused serious problems to environment and human health. Eco-driving can effectively improve the fuel economy and decrease the exhaust emissions, which makes it vital to analyze the fuel consumption and exhaust emissions at given driving cycle, and investigate their sensitivities to eco-driving factors. In this paper, the fuel consumption and exhaust emissions of a Euro-6 compliant light-duty diesel vehicle were tested in Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycles on a chassis dynamometer; further, the sensitivities of the eco-driving factors that influence the fuel economy and exhaust emissions were analyzed using validated vehicle model. For the vehicle model simulation, the effect of the coolant temperature on fuel consumption and exhaust emission only considered its effect on lubricating oil viscosity. The results showed that vehicle acceleration and velocity dominates the fuel consumption rates in Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycles, where more than 50% of the exhaust emissions was emitted in the first 300 seconds; also, fuel economy and exhaust emission factors showed a significant dependency on the road grade, coolant temperature, vehicle velocity and mass. For the driver-controllable factors, high vehicle velocity and low road grade (via route-choice) were recommended to achieve low fuel consumption and exhaust emissions

    First-Order Linear Mechatronics Model for Closed-Loop MEMS Disk Resonator Gyroscope

    In this paper, a first-order closed-loop mechatronics model of a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) disk resonator gyroscope (DRG) with a configurable ASIC is established for closed-loop design and performance analysis. There are usually some nonlinear modules in the gyroscope mechatronics model, and it is difficult to design the closed-loop controllers using classical automatic control theory. An order-reduction method (ORM) based on the Laplace transform and inverse Laplace transform is proposed to linearize the nonlinear modules. The linearized model is proved to show good agreement with the original mechatronics model in terms of system response. The experimental verification was conducted to demonstrate the validation of this method

    Study on the Mechanical Characteristics and Ground Surface Settlement Influence of the Rise–Span Ratio of the Pile–Beam–Arch Method

    The pile–beam–arch method (PBA) method is increasingly being used in the construction of metro stations with complex traffic conditions. The rise–span ratio of the arch not only affects the height of the station, but also affects the rationality of the design of subway stations and the safety of construction. The mechanical response of steel pipe piles with different rise–span ratios and the effect of controlled surface settlement have been investigated in the interactions involved in pile–soil system. In this paper, the finite element model of each rise–span ratio was established, and the rationality of the model was demonstrated by comparing the numerical simulation calculation with the field surface settlement monitoring data. The mechanical characteristics and influence analysis of the surface deformation during the excavation of the cave pile method were investigated. The results show that the maximum axial force of the central pile first decreases and then increases with the increase in the rise–span ratio. The maximum bending moment of the arch decreases as the rise–span ratio increases, and the maximum axial force of the arch is negatively correlated with the rise–span ratio. The maximum axial force of the central pile is located at the bottom plate. Due to the symmetry of the structure, the bending moment of the centre pile is small, but the maximum bending moment of the whole station is located at the side wall of the bottom plate. As the rise–span ratio increases, the surface settlement first decreases and then increases. The construction of the pilot tunnel and the upper arch is the most important factor leading to the surface settlement, so it is necessary to strengthen the soil layer

    Energy Loss in a MEMS Disk Resonator Gyroscope

    Analysing and minimizing energy loss is crucial for high performance disk resonator gyroscopes (DRGs). Generally, the primary energy loss mechanism for high vacuum packaged microelectromechanical system (MEMS) resonators includes thermoelastic damping, anchor loss, and electronic damping. In this paper, the thermoelastic damping, anchor loss, and electronic damping for our DRG design are calculated by combining finite element analysis and theoretical derivation. Thermoelastic damping is the dominant energy loss mechanism and contributes over 90% of the total dissipated energy. Benefiting from a symmetrical structure, the anchor loss is low and can be neglected. However, the electronic damping determined by the testing circuit contributes 2.6%–9.6% when the bias voltage increases from 10 V to 20 V, which has a considerable impact on the total quality factor (Q). For comparison, the gyroscope is fabricated and seal-packaged with a measured maximum Q range of 141k to 132k when the bias voltage varies. In conclusion, thermoelastic damping and electronic damping essentially determine the Q of the DRG. Thus, optimizing the resonance structure and testing the circuit to reduce energy loss is prioritized for a high-performance DRG design

    Reappraisal of the Changning-Menglian Belt as a Suture Zone for the Tethys in Western Yunnan, China: Late Paleozoic faunal and sedimentary evidence

    The Changning-Menglian Belt in western Yunnan, China has long been considered a major Tethyan suture in SE Asia, based mainly on fragmented Paleozoic ophiolites, slices of Devonian-Triassic radiolarian cherts and possible seamount limestones of Permo-Carboniferous age (Fig. 1). However, some students also argued for a setting of passive continental margin for this belt and a cryptic suture further east representing the vanished Tethyan Ocean (Ridd, 2015). To evaluate this hypothesis, we have been studying late Paleozoic strata and fusulinids in this belt for years. We recently collected late Carboniferous to Middle Permian fusulinids from various sections in this belt, including ascendingly Triticites assemblage, Sphaeroschwagerina sphaerica assemblage, Eoparafusulina assemblage, Chalaroschwagerina solita assemblage and Neoschwagerina assemblage. Further comparison reveals that the fusulinid taxonomy in this belt still differs from that in S China. For instance, the Early Permian fusulinids in this belt generally lack Pseudoschwagerina, a typical Cathaysian element. Moreover, quantitative analysis (Rarefaction) confirms that the generic diversity in this belt remains lower than in S China. These results supports that a substantial portion of the Permo-Carboniferous limestones in this belt originated from seamounts located far from the northern Gondwana margin, meanwhile slightly south of the equatorial region, also considering the couplet of carbonates and underlying basalts (OIB type). Furthermore, petrographic and geochemical analyses of the Carboniferous siliciclastic Nanduan Formation demonstrate a mature continental provenance and two peaks of detrital zircon ages (ca. 950 Ma and ca. 550 Ma) (Zheng et al., 2019). Notably, these two peaks are also shared by metasedimentary rocks (e.g., the Ximeng and Lancang Groups) widespread in this belt as well as peri-Gondwana blocks. These data suggest that the Paleozoic siliciclastics covering this belt’s eastern and western parts were derived from the Gondwana margin. Therefore, significant siliciclastic inputs from the Gondwana margin over much of this belt contradict the implied vast Paleozoic ocean in this belt. In contrast, the siliciclastic Nanpihe Group (Devonian-early Carboniferous) in the central part demonstrates a detritus source from continental arcs and clusters of detrital zircon ages of ca. 435 Ma and ca. 950 Ma, which correlates well to Silurian magmatism in the Simao and S China blocks. In conclusion, we propose that the Changning-Menglian Belt was part of the passive continental margin on the eastern flank of the Baoshan-Shan Block during the late Paleozoic, while and tectonostratigraphic slices of seamount limestones, Nanpihe Formation or even ophiolites are allochthonous and were displaced to their present position during the Late Triassic closure of the Tethys
