The present research is a quantitative study in the field of Phonoaudiology, voice and speech. The
purpose is to describe the self-perception of the voice and speech with the use of the mask, in
teachers of two private institutions in metropolitan Lima during the SARS-COV-2 pandemic. The
research is non experimental and descriptive with a transversal design with 150 teachers between
the ages of 20 and 60 years old. The instrument of this study was an adaptation of the Vocal
Production Questionnaire - Teachers (CPV-P). Regarding the sample, it was found that the
majority group teaches at the primary level and the majority used the KN95 mask. Likewise, more
than 50% of teachers teach between 21 and 30 hours. The sample perceived having good eating,
sleeping and hydration habits. This showed that the teachers generally had adequate work and
health habits. Most of the group self-perceived negative symptoms such as scratchy throat,
hoarseness, vocal fatigue, cough and dry voice when using the mask. Furthermore, 93% of
teachers self-perceived straining their voice, 71% perceived difficulties in speech intelligibility,
and 67% reported difficulties in pneumophono-articular coordination using the mask. Therefore,
it is concluded that teachers perceive negative vocal symptoms and speech difficulties when using
the mask during classes

School education and its impact on cooperative learning
ABSTRACT
The present investigation had as object of study cooperative learning, which constitutes a contribution to the transformation of the teaching process and the learning process, with the conviction that through socialization knowledge can be built from a multidimensional and where, through dialogue, contributions and solutions can be generated on different areas of academic content. It comes to promote various aspects such as: strengthening social relationships, promoting the values of respect, solidarity, tolerance, among others; encourage creative, participatory, critical and reflective thinking. Serving as a focus of light in the transition of the educational process, and a mediating path between all its actors, making effective use of technological tools as an essential resource required by the knowledge and information society. It allowed to conclude that encouraging the relationship of group dynamics, strengthening interpersonal relationships among all students, avoiding sectarianism and discrimination that could occur on their part within the class environment, thus allowing the climate to improve by being more enthusiastic and pleasant. Link information and communication technology (ICT) in the educational process in an accommodative way, helping to turn a tool that is often "distracting" into a "training" tool. All under the astuteness of the teacher to ensure that their relationship is favorable, which would generate a more dynamic and effective work environment, developing search, analysis, organization and decision skills in the applicability of the information to facilitate their understanding.

Socio-Economic and Environmental Implications of Gold Mining in Afro-Descendant Communities from Colombia
The ethnic diversity of Colombia is one of the most attractive characteristics of the country, which includes the Afro-descendants, Raizal and Palenquero populations, who have lead an ancestral lifestyle that is an essential component of the culture and heritage of the nation. Thus, the well-being of these communities is translated into a primary need to guarantee their quality of life, in addition to generate a contribution to their struggle for the recognition, inclusion and guarantee of their fundamental rights. In this chapter, a bibliographic analysis was performed in order to evaluate both the conditions in which the Afro collective territories are found, and the different forms of organization of the populations entitled as community councils, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations located in the department of Cauca. In addition, a conceptual diagnosis of the multiple socioeconomic, environmental and health impacts derived from gold mining in Colombia was developed, with special interest in the studies that have been carried out in populations located in areas of great biodiversity, including the Colombian Amazon, biogeographic Chocó and Bolívar, departments in which Afro-descendant communities also live. Finally, a detailed analysis of the different aspects of mining that affect the quality of life and the welfare state of the communities is provided, and some aspects are proposed to be taken into account by the actors involved to achieve the least negative impacts of these activities, emphasizing the current state of the Colombian case
Dietary fatty acids modulate oxidative stress response to air pollution but not to infection
Anthropogenic changes to the environment expose wildlife to many pollutants. Among these, tropospheric ozone is of global concern and a highly potent pro-oxidant. In addition, human activities include several other implications for wildlife, e.g., changed food availability and changed distribution of pathogens in cities. These co-occurring habitat changes may interact, thereby modulating the physiological responses and costs related to anthropogenic change. For instance, many food items associated with humans (e.g., food waste and feeders for wild birds) contain relatively more ω6-than ω3-polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Metabolites derived from ω6-PUFAs can enhance inflammation and oxidative stress towards a stimulus, whereas the opposite response is linked to ω3-derived metabolites. Hence, we hypothesized that differential intake of ω6-and ω3-PUFAs modulates the oxidative stress state of birds and thereby affects the responses towards pro-oxidants. To test this, we manipulated dietary ω6:ω3 ratios and ozone levels in a full-factorial experiment using captive zebra finches (Taeniopygia guttata). Additionally, we simulated an infection, thereby also triggering the immune system’s adaptive pro-oxidant release (i.e., oxidative burst), by injecting lipopolysaccharide. Under normal air conditions, the ω3-diet birds had a lower antioxidant ratio (GSH/GSSG ratio) compared to the ω6-diet birds. When exposed to ozone, however, the diet effect disappeared. Instead, ozone exposure overall reduced the total concentration of the key antioxidant glutathione (tGSH). Moreover, the birds on the ω6-rich diet had an overall higher antioxidant capacity (OXY) compared to birds fed a ω3-rich diet. Interestingly, only the immune challenge increased oxidative damage, suggesting the oxidative burst of the immune system overrides the other pro-oxidative processes, including diet. Taken together, our results show that ozone, dietary PUFAs, and infection all affect the redox-system, but in different ways, suggesting that the underlying responses are decoupled despite that they all increase pro-oxidant exposure or generation. Despite lack of apparent cumulative effect in the independent biomarkers, the combined single effects could together reduce overall cellular functioning and efficiency over time in wild birds exposed to pathogens, ozone, and anthropogenic food sources

Defining Natural History: Assessment of the Ability of College Students to Aid in Characterizing Clinical Progression of Niemann-Pick Disease, Type C
Niemann-Pick Disease, type C (NPC) is a fatal, neurodegenerative, lysosomal storage disorder. It is a rare disease with broad phenotypic spectrum and variable age of onset. These issues make it difficult to develop a universally accepted clinical outcome measure to assess urgently needed therapies. To this end, clinical investigators have defined emerging, disease severity scales. The average time from initial symptom to diagnosis is approximately 4 years. Further, some patients may not travel to specialized clinical centers even after diagnosis. We were therefore interested in investigating whether appropriately trained, community-based assessment of patient records could assist in defining disease progression using clinical severity scores. In this study we evolved a secure, step wise process to show that pre-existing medical records may be correctly assessed by non-clinical practitioners trained to quantify disease progression. Sixty-four undergraduate students at the University of Notre Dame were expertly trained in clinical disease assessment and recognition of major and minor symptoms of NPC. Seven clinical records, randomly selected from a total of thirty seven used to establish a leading clinical severity scale, were correctly assessed to show expected characteristics of linear disease progression. Student assessment of two new records donated by NPC families to our study also revealed linear progression of disease, but both showed accelerated disease progression, relative to the current severity scale, especially at the later stages. Together, these data suggest that college students may be trained in assessment of patient records, and thus provide insight into the natural history of a disease
