Objective: The preliminary results are presented on the use of a new application for mobile phones designed to control home exercise sessions in claudication.Materials and methods: The application is designed for Android systems with geolocation tech-nology and Internet connection. It is connected to a database encoded to ensure medical confidentiality. The data collected from the exercise sessions were the date, start time and end time, the time spent, the number of stops made, and the maximum speed, average speed and overall speed between stops. During the month of January 2014 patients who accepted and understood the study, and possessed an Android mobile device with geolocation and data connection, were enrolled. The exclusion criteria, 11 the study started, were progression to arterial ischemia, severe intercurrent illness, non-communication with the patient, and death. Major morbidities and results of quality of life questionnaires SF36 and EuroQol 5 D were collec-ted. Time of first consultation and time spent per week per patient during a 28-day follow-up was recorded. Compliance as regards the agreed sessions was calculated for each patient, with a minimum of 2 weeks. Results: The study included 5 patients with a mean age 59.3 years (median 52; range 40-80). Of these, 2 were excluded, one for progression to critical ischemia and another for non-communication. The average time spent in a new consultation was 29.1 minutes (median 27.5, range 45-20). The compliance with the sessions was 100% in 2 patients, and 63% in another. Time spent in the weekly monitoring per patient was 1.68 minutes. Conclusions: CReTe is an applicable tool in our environment that requires further study to demonstrate its usefulness

    The Logic behind Feynman's Paths

The classical notions of continuity and mechanical causality are left in order to refor- mulate the Quantum Theory starting from two principles: I) the intrinsic randomness of quantum process at microphysical level, II) the projective representations of sym- metries of the system. The second principle determines the geometry and then a new logic for describing the history of events (Feynman's paths) that modifies the rules of classical probabilistic calculus. The notion of classical trajectory is replaced by a history of spontaneous, random an discontinuous events. So the theory is reduced to determin- ing the probability distribution for such histories according with the symmetries of the system. The representation of the logic in terms of amplitudes leads to Feynman rules and, alternatively, its representation in terms of projectors results in the Schwinger trace formula.Comment: 15 pages, contribution to Mario Castagnino Festschrif

The aim of this paper is to analyze wholesale electricity market performance in the twenty years of existence. After describing spot market operation, the market for long-term and reliability charge, we analyzed the effect of variables such as El Niño, the reservoir level, the ratio of the actual availability and market demand and some effects of regulatory changes on the spot price. Also through a stochastic model we set up some recommendations on how to improve the functioning of this market with standardized contracts implementation considering international experience. Despite the market's advance in these twenty years of operation, there are still issues to be resolved, such as contracts standardized long-term implementation, smart grids and lowering the threshold to enter the unregulated market, as these aspects would help to reduce the spot price

Spatial and temporal analysis of the seasonal and interannual variability in the tropical Pacific simulated with a coupled GCM

In the first part of this work, the dominant time scales that explain the tropical variability of the first SINTEX simulation (ECHAM4(T30)-ORCA) are identified through a spectral analysis. Higher order spectral analysis is used to examine the interactions among these time scales. The time series analyzed are an average of sea surface temperature over the Niño3 region. The time scales obtained are compared with those identified in another coupled GCM simulation (ECHAM4(T42)-OPYC3). The higher importance of the biannual time scale in this last is explained partly by the strength of the coupling between the annual and the biannual time scales. There is no such strong coupling in the SINTEX simulation. Important differences among the generation of the simulated warm (or cold) event suggest the need of a systematic classification to isolate their relevant features. Therefore in the second part of this work, we address this problem. A space-time cluster analysis is performed on a data set built by collecting the values of the heat content anomalies in the tropical Pacific region, in the fifteen months previous to a peak in the Niño3 Index that has been identified as a ‘warm’ (or ‘cold’) event. In the case of the warm events, three types of generation schemes are found. In two of them, there are anomalies of heat content in the west, north and south of the equator, more than nine months before the events start. In the third case, the anomalies appear and grow in the central equatorial Pacific. Only two types are needed to classify the generation of cold events. Negative sea level height anomalies appear six months before the Niño3 Index reaches the (local) minimum. They are located north of the equator in one of the groups, and south of it in the other. Some of these characteristic traits also appear in observations of warm and cold events

En la temporada 2.002-2.003 se lograron 1.927 goles con un promedio por equipo de 120,38 ± 28,58, y en la temporada 2.013-2.014 1.355 goles con un promedio de 90,40 ± 27,72This article analyses the hypothesis that the changes introduced in the regulation of futsal modify the inner logic of the game, what turns into a reduction of total goals and a significant variation in the form of execution. Therefore, it is set out as aim of study to analyze the goals and the way to achieve them in a previous season and in one subsequent to the change of regulation in order to establish quantitatively how the 2006 rules change has affected the game. Totally, 3126 goals were analyzed, scored in 442 matches, distributed in 1771 goals in 232 matches in season 2002-2003 and 1355 goals in 210 matches in season 2103-2014. The method used in this study was observational methodology. For the observational process, it has been used the observational software Lince vl.2.1. It has been carried out using the IBM SPSS 19.0.0 program. The results show a statistically significant reduction in the number of goals from one season to another. In season 2002-2003, 1927 goals were achieved with an average by team of 120.38±28.58, by 1355 goals in season 2013-2014 of 90.40±27.7
